I own kettlebells (26, 35, 44, 53, 62, 70 lb.), slam balls (30, 40, 50 lb.), medicine balls (10, 20 lb.), adjustable dumbbells (5 - 50 lb.), resistance bands, jump ropes, and a pullup/push up/dip station. I'll end up purchasing additional slam balls and I will eventually purchase an adjustable club. The entire cost of my equipment is probably cheaper than a couple years of a gym membership. This is really all the equipment I will ever need to stay in kick-ass shape.

I live in an apartment and I can't really use a slam ball properly - no slamming! ..so I stick to my KBs. But I completely agree that is far more functional, useful and fun equipment than barbells. I've used both when I was doing CrossFit and a slam ball always felt more natural than the robotic layout and patterns of barbells. Due to the weight BBing probably has higher risk of injury as well. The skills of handling a SB for sure will affect your everyday life and make you function better and more attractive, where BB really does only the latter.

Video request: knee strengthening focused video
I have floating knee caps and recently have dislocated my left knee cap for the first time. I have dislocated my right knee cap four times in the past. This has caused a decent amount of trauma for side-to-side movements and I am probably going to be in a position soon to have knee surgery at the age of 27.
Assuming I can dig myself out of this situation, what would you recommend to strengthen my legs to prevent future injury? I have been using an adjustable kettlebell, adex arc, and adex club to improve my overall strength but it feels like I might need something more knee-focused to give myself a chance of my knees lasting long-term.
I have in the past have done kb get-ups, kb swings, inside circles, outside circles, shield casts, mace 360, and barbarian squats. How would you program a knee strengthening routine for those that struggle with long-term knee issues? Is it even possible to improve knee cap tracking? My right knee cap now makes cracking noises and my left knee has started to do the same as well. Physical therapy helps me recover but it just seems like a perpetual problem.

Sorry I missed the SB front squat vid last year. Good good stuff coach. I like a Zercher styled squat, be it barbell(prefer thick axle) or with an odd shape, ball or bag. I learned sandbag squat from Julien Pineau of Strong fit, a Strongman exercise themed CrossFit. He uses a bear hug to engage lats. I will add that bags are easily affordable and loadable. I use smaller plastic sandbags as additions. Also, could you design a wheelbarrow workout? I believe it would be perfect rear chain developer.

I have family members who have spent a lot on high end treadmills or ellipticals that just collect dust. They'll never get the same return on investment that I have gotten in my kettlebells, clubs, and gym rings, which are all cheaper combined. The most expensive item I have purchased to date is the adjustable kettlebell from Kettlebell Kings but even then, I did not think it was a bad investment at all. The only items I use that I know will not last forever are my pullup assist resistance bands that I paid 25 dollars for on Amazon but those have lasted me at least 3.5 years and still work well. Ultimately, I think people need to find those fitness things that interest them and justify the expense as an investment in themselves and their health. The best decision I ever made with fitness was when I picked up a kettlebell at my apartment gym to try standing ab exercises because I was tired of getting on the floor. It led to trying and investing in other implements that have far exceeded my interest than what I had been doing in the gym previously and I've seen the best results since then. Ultimately, I inadvertently turned my fitness routine from a chore into a hobby and I am grateful that happened.

I just went through the first few moves of your introduction to heavy clubs yesterday and am already sore in my mid back and sides. My plan was to do a day of kettlebells and a day of heavy clubs twice a week in the beginning and eventually move to your program design of adding in single arm clubs on a third day twice a week. This should be good for the next few months to a year for me but where would I fit in slam ball if I want to try it in the future. What should I swap out?

I was thinking about "going heavy" to alternate barbell deadlifting and squatting with my regular KB program but this video opened other possibilities. I'm also thinking about clubs to add in some rotational movements (I have a Kettlebell Kings adjustable bell and I'd really like an Adex adjustable club but the shipping costs from the US to Europe are out of this world).

I think at the end of the day it comes down to people's goals. For most people a barbell set-up isn't going to be the optimal way to go, and even if it was a gym membership to a good local barbell gym is always going to be the better economical and logistical value.

You over complicate things way too much. People just need to pick the right size bell that they can do a movement correctly with and add reps then when they’re ready go up a weight. It’s not complicated. (Talking about kettlebells). Maces and shit are just gimmicks.
