I've just ordered the 5 IV coming from a Samsung A71. I may shoot the occasional video of myself playing music but the camera isn't really important for me. The A71 is awful for music. My old XZ1 was great and I miss the usability of Sony. Time will tell, hopefully I'll like it.

    • @GroundedTech
      @GroundedTech  Год назад +1

It's a big upgrade from that phone but it will be a different experience. If you handle different experiences just fine then you should get on with it just fine.
      Let me know!

@@GroundedTech Hi. So it arrived and I tried the camera(s) and they are great for filming myself playing music. The sound quality of the recording is very good. There are many options for video recording so I have a learning curve there but that's all good. I didn't really consider using the video recording but having tried it I can see it's a great tool for creator content. I've seen videos about it since and you can do so much.
Watching a movie, Avatar, in widescreen is superb. Great colour, not over saturated like Samsung, and amazing audio. Plus stereo speakers makes all the difference. I bought the A71 instead of the A72 by mistake. The A71 having only one speaker.
I love having the camera shutter button back for quick photos. I did set my power button on my A71 to quick shoot which was a good feature.
I'm in my 50s now but I like tech and asdapt well to it. I build my own PCs and I use Linux so navigating new tech is a good mental challenge which is fun.
Apart from the usual hassle of setting up a new phone I think I'm really happy having Sony again.

The 5 iv suffered compass issues which affected google maps etc. But I didn't suffer any of the issues you had. There's something about the phone though. I really really like them lol. Why no video for 5 v? I had big hopes with this model but for my it was not able to used and I sold it after 2 days of use. The worst phone which I've evere used. I returned to 5 ii on which I have about 215 apps installed which for 5 v was probably too much? It was unacceptable that switching screens was like on 10 mhz cpu, finger print reader some times hang during only 2 days of working it was the worst experience with smartphone I have ever had.

Thank you, I was going to order it for half the price compaired to when it was released. This is written from my beloved XZ S that was bought from a second hand / refurb shop(when the XZ from the same shop accidentally was chrushed in some machinery 😅 ) , and has survived for years in the workshop fixing my car, bicycle touring, beeing my radio and TV (RUclips) and everything in between not to mention the camera as well. It was of course protected by a good case and display protection. Only now the age of the device can be felt, and the updated banking app for instance, can't be downloaded to it anymore. It does'nt seem that I can get into a good newer or new Xperia for sensible money anymore, not that I can't throw the money but I refuse. It seems the 10 has to be the answer then, but then I don't even get into wireless charging, so this makes me consider the Pixel 7a or 7 then, but I am for sure going to miss the camera button and the sd card then.... Yes as an old-time xperia fan I like how sony tried to introduce new models but I think they need to focus also on practicality n how to make people love using xperias, which in this case I think Samsung does better.

I honestly loved the Xperia 5 ii. First Xperia I owned. I think the thing to remember is they're taking a different approach compared to the Xperia's of old. Xperia's used to oversharpen images from what I've seen. Many prefer that look. Xperia go a different route now. Can always sharpen them in post.

    • @GroundedTech

@@GroundedTech yea the overheating eventually got betterish but only for certain things.
      Any camera use(Skype call especially)
Gaming( even with charging battery turned off
GPS or stuff that involves the battery. We're the major heaters.
I could watch RUclips with the screen on for hours and not have my phone heat up
Though the fact that almost every app that was in the background got restarted when I reopened the phone. So many times RUclips would close even with the mini player up.
I'm waiting for the mark 6 gen since the 5 v isn't coming to the states or I might switch phones to a gamer phone just to get better thermals.

I really like my 5IV, but sadly it's not the perfect phone for me, and i will look for something different when i have paid it off.
I both LOVE the camera and disslike it at the same time. I love the pro camera, no phone comes near it. But the point and shoot part is very underwhelming. Very slow and dull locking.
The battery is amazing. It's baffling how such a small phone can last this long. A couple of days ago i went to bed with 78% left! Granted the phone mostly was in my pocket that day but still.
The bluetooth connection is rather poor. At least to my headphones. Sometimes i can't have the phone in my pocket because the audio takes a big hit, so I have to carry the phone in my hand.
