Today I want to invite you behind the scenes as I work on a song I'm producing, specifically a bridge section that needs a little something extra. By the way, the song I'm working on is a song YOU could be working on too, if you were a part of my VIP membership. We do a new challenge every month. This month, the challenge is to take the keyboard/vocal tracks from this song and produce them however you want. If that sounds fun to you, come join VIP at www.homestudio...

Hi Joe, I watch all your videos, and I've been following you for several years. You have helped me a lot to understand about music production. My native language is Spanish and I have intermediate English, but it wouldn't hurt to activate the automatic translation, so I can listen to you in Spanish, so you could also reach more people. I send you a big hug and my gratitude for everything you teach us.
I'm already looking forward to the finished song Joe.😊 It's great to hear multiple guitars together and the BGVS are very enjoyable.😃 All together nicely spices up the musical soup.👌 Keep up the good work, my friend, and greetings across the Atlantic from Robi.🤗💖
Beautiful song 😍
Great video! I used to love watching people's process through a song. It seems there's not many that do this anymore.
Exceptional work
Thanks, as always, Joe. Also-- Great Scot son, that's beautiful!
WOW - Really cool. Wondering what a Nashville tuned guitar would sound like strumming just barely audible up the middle?
ily Joe you've helped me so much, and I am thankful for that
Being a drummer I would say when the percussion comes in a nice floor tom every fourth beat
you have such a great voice Joe, your songs should go viral.
The acoustic/electric guitar double trick is pretty cool. I'm going to try that....thanks for the tip.
That acoustic sounds so good with nothing on it. GIRATS!
Sounds great. I love the mini k mics. Totally agree about picks. When doing 1 take on either side it can be nice to even use different picks to create slight variation too.
Thank you ❤ from Turkiye
Hi, Joe. That beautiful part is not too long. You do not need to shorten it. It is just as long and wonderful as it needs to be. Just leave it as it is. Sounds great! Thanks, man.
Loved your Vocal Course!✅
It must be a moving, beautiful song because I'm sitting here swaying left and right in my chair as I watch your vid. Not only that, I replayed it 3x. So soothing. And it's not too long. Have fun refining it. I'm keen on hearing the finished.
So pretty!
really nice
Beautiful song Joe.
Beautiful tune Joe. I love the backing vocal section. Could you do a video specifically breaking down those parts and effects?
Yup. It’s in this month’s VIP masterclass. Join for free for a month here: www.homestudiocorner.com/vip
Absolutely awesome!!
Question: Why don't you make one of the acoustic double in Nashville tuning ? I think it would work pretty well in this context.
How do you double the acoustic guitar like that-- same part, instrument, mic placement, everything -- and seemingly avoid any trace of chorus effect? It sounds so good.
That a Roswell mic?🛸
I think your initial instinct is correct - it IS too long.
That said, you could try the acoustics split wide, with the tele being finger-picked up the middle to give it some movement. Good vid.
Nice Joe. It would be great to have more videos on the thoughts behind your producing moves, in a bit more depth, without the how to achieve bit, which I am sure you have another video already done that you can link to.
Yep. All that is in my recording course. www.homestudiocorner.com/simple
Tune the tele!!!!!
😊
@@HomeStudioCorner Love your teaching, thank you!
Sounds great. I'd love to hear a bass/vocals counterpoint being played midway through.
Kind of like Jaco Pastorius and Wayne Shorter did around 2:14 of Weather Report's 'A Remark You Made'. Sax and bass in unison at first - then they separate as Jaco plays a descending bass line.
(I know. Just another internet guy's opinion. Lol !!! Sorry, Joe)
Can you do a post about the use of beds in songs?
YOU NEED PEDAL STEEL!!👍🏻👍🏻
Tune the guitar?? That's what chorus pedals are for! Pretty song, Joe.
😊 you are right. But it actually doesn’t sound bad in the mix.
@@HomeStudioCorner Sure thing. when i've done multiple strumming gtr parts back to back ad then listen to them individually, I'll notice some out of tune-ish but the natural chorus-ing does sound good and is more random(convincing) as well.
Add an upper octave plucked harmonic, 2 or 3 notes and then a repetitive note fading in.
3:25
Don’t shorten it. Thanks 🙏🏾
You’re “producing” the song? Isn’t it your own song? Lol. Sounds nice. Love those lush harmonies:)
Why would I not produce my own song?
@@HomeStudioCorner you’re right!
Good idea, but you need to get both guitars in tune, Ìm sorry to say..especially the Tele..
I noticed when you were recording the tele that the wave forms were totally clipping. Did you do that to achieve the "edge of breakup" sound instead of an effect insert?
It’s just a zoomed in way form. Nothing is clipping.
@@HomeStudioCorner So the height of the sound waves in the element isnt indicative of the input level? TIL
What metronome sound is that? Is that a preset?
Musty Metronome or something like that?
@@HomeStudioCorner ok thanks! great video!
Doesn’t your guitar compete with the vocal if you put it up the middle?
Nope
@HomeStudioCorner ok, I'm gonna try it. I've always avoided putting midrange instruments in the middle for this reason (pretty sure I saw it on a video somewhere). Maybe you could do a video on the subject of panning?
@@officialWWM. remember that before stereo, we had mono, with everything down the center, and it sounds good too.
@ yes but all I’m saying is, I have seen videos presented by top mix engineers saying not to put guitars in the same space as the vocals because they are competing for the same space. Makes perfect sense to me 🤷🏻♂️
It’s very possible they’re talking about frequencies too. Guitars can be panned away from the vocal and still be “on top” of it.
Big picture, I think you’re overthinking it. 😊
I'm not a muso, so I can't say wrong or right, what I might say is break up the electric rhythm so that it only plays on certain notes and beats, that could imitate the "drive or push" you are looking for??? Just my 2c though, it will stop the electric from getting lost in the mix because of too "similar" a sound.... And would then also sound more "percussive" Because only certain notes are being played on the beat??? Do not know if this makes sense to you..... It does in my head but having the words to describe it with zero musical knowledge makes it hard to explain.. I just do not have the bucks for the VIP, wish I did, I could then "show" you 😂what I mean....
Beautiful song! But for me this part is to long. The listener (me) loses attention, and nothing happens that "surprises" me. #my2cents
Tele is a little out of tune, but beautiful track!
You’re right
@ keep it up! 😁😁😁
