I'd greatly appreciate it if some fans of Oleta Adams' version of GET HERE (which she covered from Brenda Russell's original) would check out my acoustic piano & vocal tribute version, you can find it by clicking on my channel. I recorded it without any electronic audio equipment, using only the acoustics of the room. Thanks and please pardon the self promo.
True that Ismail. She and Lalah Hathaway have similar tone kind of voices and don't get the kind of recognition that the higher pitched female singers do. Maybe with more people like you and I they will receive more accolades they so truly deserve.
@@surubaid1 yes, both Oleta and Lalah are fantastic artist, however, they do not have similar tone. Well not to me. Lalah has a deep tone like Toni and Anita, but Oleta can hit those high notes as you can tell in this song we are commenting on.
I have been to two concerts when Oleta came to Detroit. She never robs her audience. Her voice is so rich, so believable. If I was in a relationship that was on the skids. Just hearing her sing "When love comes to the rescue" would make me not only reconsider but remember all the things love has brought and taught me. Thanks Oleta for being you. Can't wait till you come back to Detroit again. Pastor Larry Smith
She sings effortlessly. What a natural gift....she needs no gimmicks like many of these newer singers out today,no autotune. Oleta is my kind of singer.
Great performance. I was half expecting her to go into vocal acrobatics like so many singers of today do. But she kept to the melody yet with soulful flourishes. Very nice indeed. I remember her from 1991's Get Here (If You Can).
I will love you Christ my Savior, I will ever sing you praise is the best song period. Musically, worldly, melody, singing, She has others, but none like that.
My beloved friend Cliff turned me onto Oleta back in the day. She is and always will be one of my most favorite vocal masters!!! Her voice is not only angelic... but her command of range is awesome!!! Beyond great! Thanks ever so much for the post! = )
I will never get enough of this woman's voice. Her songs calms you makes you sometimes cry. What a moving talent. I'm also glad that she also sang songs like Holy and Breath Of Heaven. The world needs to hear more of her. She a musical Precious "Diamond."
And that's how it's done kids...no auto-tune needed. One piano...One AMAZINIG voice = pure talent. (Side note: Would love to hear Oleta Adams and Jeffery Osborne in concert...CD, or something collaborative. Come on music world, make it happen-captain. LOL. Happy holidays and peace friend.
I love Oleta and especially this song. Used to listen to this all the time when my dad was seriously ill and was praying he would make it. Unfortunately he didn't. And this song and others from Oleta were too painful to listen to for years, they were sort of banned. Now more than 15 years are gone and I'm all in tears when I hear this... A soul touching song and performance
Joanne JoMa I discovered Oleta many years ago, listening to the Tears for Fears album called "The Seeds Of Love". On the song "Woman In Chains" she was singing with Roland Orzabal. I immediately mentioned the extended range and the very special tone of her voice... Since then, I still listen to her with great pleasure as she is a very good pianist too ! ;)
Saying that she's a "natural talent" is almost insulting. This is the result of years of careful, cultivation and practice. Yes, she is a natural talent, but she is also clearly a lot more than that. That interviewer was lucky to be in her presence. She is a queen.
love the sound of your songs Oleta. I drive almost 1200 km every week from Joburg to Durban (RSA),as I play your music I get refreshed and I feel inner peace within me blossom like a beautiful flower. What a talent, you such a blessing to me
She has that incredible and not very common distinction as a Vocalist that the INSTANT you hear the first lyrics being sung you KNOW that it's Her and not anyone else. Her passionate rendition of "Get Here" written by Brenda Russell became an anthem for US Troops that went off to serve during the first Gulf War and their Families here at home. Her 1997 single "Beams Of Heaven" is such a visceral, heartfelt performance; someone else sang it at a dear friend of mine's funeral recently, and every time I hear Oleta'a version it brings me right back to that day, with tears I might add ;-(
The power of Ms. Adams' vocals!! Her voice is perfection and she's just as good live, plus a really nice person. I had the honor of meeting her after a performance.
I had to make an Oleta playlist, i was in foodmax and heard her song playing and had to do this playlist b/c i hav her cd in Ga, now i'm in Cali my hometown (Jesus) miss atl, but anyway, Oleta's voice is like the comfort of the spirit, that's deep, It's unexplainable, I need to drink that coffe if that'll make my voice this warm. LORD today!!!
Let's wish a Happy Birthday to the one and only @realOletaAdams .On May 4th. I saw Oleta Adams at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles back in 1995.What an artist and what a talent with one of the best voices of the last Century and beyond.#oletaAdams
Oletta, you'll never get this but I've loved your voice from the moment I heard you for the first time in college. My dream is to get you and Anita in a duet. Luv you.
Wow I haven't seen this for years .... Put aside the mesmerising voice her piano playing is incomparable......I prey one day to see her live .....one of the truly underated great voices
I believe in my Heart Every Word. I also believe Mrs. Adams could sing about Dirt being Dirty and make a Masterpiece. I have been fan a since 1995. The ladies in my family raised me right. PLEASE PEOPLE EXPOSE YOUR CHILDREN TO THE ART'S AND REAL MUSIC. #Blessings #WHENLOVECOMESTOTHERESCUE
Ms. Oleta Adams sings effortlessly a gift from GOD. Just natural and pure. This is just what I need to hear today.. When Love Comes To The Rescue.. This song touch me to the core of My Soul.. Thanks Ms. Adams..
I love Oleta's velvet voice that caresses the soul, the deep lyrics, I can't keep back tears. I love her duets with Roland Orzabal too, their voices incredible fit together. Shame, that they haven't recorded more duets... 💞
This is empirical evidence that God is love and lives through this beautiful woman's voice. If God is love then it necessarily follows He comes to our rescue.
What a talent xx she has x amazing !!!! An amazing beautiful voice Yes xx but also .. what a superb pianist !!! her playing on the tears for fears tracks .. made the band for me xx !!! And also ... a beautiful lady xx
I found this video, I have never seen her perform live. Here in Oz we never had huge coverage of R&B/Soul artists when I grew up, we kinda had to discover them for ourselves... What would we do without RUclips, finally after having bought Oleta's CDs all that time ago I get to see her sing one of my favorite songs...
I just adore her from way back in my teens.... Her voice wowwwww God truly blessed her vocal cords (I even named my Twitter handle after her 1st name ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
one of the best voices of all times....love her delivery
OLETA ADAMS HAS AN INCOMPARABLE AND STUNNING VOICE!!! UNFORTUNATELY, UNDERRATED.

Oleta's voice is a prayer all by itself.
I think she use to sing gospel. I haven't heard her in years..where did she go???

"Oleta" that is... sorry for the misspelling.
Bishop Kingdom Oleta went to my high school at the same time I did. She performed in the school choir. Everyone knew she was a gift from God.
Dennis Herreid wow..you were blessed early on...
Dennis Herreid that's awesome Dennis. You're right... what a gift and gifted!!
I love Oleta and especially this song. Used to listen to this all the time when my dad was seriously ill and was praying he would make it. Unfortunately he didn't. He meant that as a great compliment; he just then add how she has honed her gift.

It is a pop filter used to protect the recording from plosives which happen when the consonant sounds "p" and "b" are sounded.
I have always had a crush on her. She is so underrated. Magnificent talent.
