Nah...that's actually quite a good haul for $2000 - enough to build two really good cars and one complete parts hack (smart idea to actually fit the spares into the brown car.)
I think so too, and it’ll keep me busy, I’m going to try and piece together three cars and see how I favour with what I’m missing. But it shouldn’t be much. It’s always better storing parts where they go instead of piled in a car in my opinion.

My friend had one of the efi 202 VK berlina black motor. They did go alright, but nowhere near as powerful as the V8s. I remember we were getting chased one night by VC commodore that had a 253. We had absolutely no chance of getting away from it. It was swerving into us trying to drive us off the road. The power to weight ratio was to much. If we managed to pull away from this thing, it just caught up to us with barely any effort you could hear it just roar up beside us and the guy screaming at us to pull over, and also my uncle had a HQ premier with a red 253 in it and that used to leave us for dead not so much on take off but once the revs picked up it was gone, and that was a heavy car. You could just feel the difference in the power of a 202 injected or not, in comparison to a 253 it was a big difference from what I experienced, and we were told at the time it was more powerful than the V8s. That is how we got into trouble in the first place. We thought we had a much more powerful car.
I’ve heard lots of conflicting things about whether or not they are better or slower than a 253. I guess time will tell and I’ll be able to make my own verdict. Maybe I’ll do a back to back! I have got a blue 253 and a 4 speed sitting there. Maybe I can stuff that into one and line them up
2.8 six & 4.2 V8 was dropped when VK was launched. Injected 202 had more power than standard 4.2 (106kw vs 100kw) and only a little less torque. Injected 202 considered to be one of the best versions of the Holden 6.
The injected motors run a pl head which is an iron casting of a Yella terra head they are the bomb the flow crazy with minimal porting score look for where they are normally stamped H or L it should have PL instead
I’ll have to have a look for it when I get to this one. This car has had a lot of comments about it in regards to the injected engine so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it

More of these old cars on the road the better. First vk is probably the roughest of the lot, The silver one would be off putting to most. But if the windscreen fits it shouldn’t be too hard to pull up.
My mum had a white Vk wagon with the red fuel injected motor in it . Was a good car and was going to be my first car till some little grub stole it and put it into a tree around the corner
@V8JakeC I only wonted it so I could look at it and see how to put the heater,aicon,box and wiring back in when I put mine back together,the high rise consoles are worth a fortune,, I think you still got a good deal for 5 vk's,,have fun,looking forward to when you work on them

My brother had a vk calais with the 5.0 and said his mates 3.3 injected was not far off in performance.

That engine number on the block is not original GMH stamping therefore wouldn't relay on that alone to date it
The fact that the side of the block has no casting capacity gives it authenticity that it is correct, Unless it’s a pre hk 161.

Yes it is. I think the old “it’s going to scrap” is just a sales pitch to get people in to buy it, because people don’t take scrap prices for them.
