- Leonardo da Vinci: A collection of 119 sketches (HD)
Description: "Da Vinci was one of the great creative minds of the Italian Renaissance, hugely influential as an artist and sculptor but also immensely talented as an engineer, scientist and inventor.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on 15 April 1452 near the Tuscan town of Vinci, the illegitimate son of a local lawyer. He was apprenticed to the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence and in 1478 became an independent master. In about 1483, he moved to Milan to work for the ruling Sforza family as an engineer, sculptor, painter and architect. From 1495 to 1497 he produced a mural of 'The Last Supper' in the refectory of the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan.
Da Vinci was in Milan until the city was invaded by the French in 1499 and the Sforza family forced to flee. He may have visited Venice before returning to Florence. During his time in Florence, he painted several portraits, but the only one that survives is the famous 'Mona Lisa' (1503-1506).
In 1506, da Vinci returned to Milan, remaining there until 1513. This was followed by three years based in Rome. In 1517, at the invitation of the French king Francis I, Leonardo moved to the Château of Cloux, near Amboise in France, where he died on 2 May 1519.
The fame of Da Vinci's surviving paintings has meant that he has been regarded primarily as an artist, but the thousands of surviving pages of his notebooks reveal the most eclectic and brilliant of minds. He wrote and drew on subjects including geology, anatomy (which he studied in order to paint the human form more accurately), flight, gravity and optics, often flitting from subject to subject on a single page, and writing in left-handed mirror script. He 'invented' the bicycle, airplane, helicopter, and parachute some 500 years ahead of their time.
If all this work had been published in an intelligible form, da Vinci's place as a pioneering scientist would have been beyond dispute. Yet his true genius was not as a scientist or an artist, but as a combination of the two: an 'artist-engineer'. His painting was scientific, based on a deep understanding of the workings of the human body and the physics of light and shade. His science was expressed through art, and his drawings and diagrams show what he meant, and how he understood the world to work."

Thanks for all support!
Even now, 500 years later, you look at these sketches and go "Yeah, that dude was on a different level".
I cant even believe what they thought then!! Amazing
Leonado Da Vinci is the full definition of AWESOME ! During his whole life, he created the most amazing thing to the world to see fron generation to generation. We were lucky to have a person like him that lived on our earth at some point in time.
He was artist, scientist, visionary - incredibly, multitalented person !
a possible down side to his multiple and varied interests was his lack of following through and finishing a piece many times. Still was the perfect balance of science, math, and art.
He is the true definition of how awesome the arts are.
10:07 most inspiring art for me.
He was a great painter as we all know, but man could he DRAW! I assume that this was with charcoal on rather thick paper, given it's held together all these some 500 years! Given all his talents, he must have been a raving genius. We may never see a man with his talents ever again or a genius of his caliber ever again.
8:08 When you realise that was drawn over five centuries ago and easily rivals some of the most high-fidelity photographs of clothing taken by modern state of the art cameras.
plus, you have to understand that the tools he use were so primitive that if the regular normal 2b pencil was introduced to him, it would practically be so advanced that a time machine can't even compare.
so the man is making photorealistic art using tools that in this day and age would be classified as nearly impossible to draw such amazing art with.
Not only that, but he also did all these, without any of the high precision and performance artist's tools we now have, not even a proper piece of paper... Most of his sketches are chalk, a silverpoint on a piece of wood and a goose's quill on a paper made out of rags
@@greekveteran2715 ...and all done in dark rooms lit by only a fire or candlelight!
my fascination for the art is great, but i am more fascinated that an individual developed that skill than with the art itself. the discipline to refine it over his life must have been immense!
And that's exactly what AI will never be able to replace.
It is hard work to imitate him. Such genius!
Absolutely amazing! I can only hope that in a past life of mine, I must have been close to him at some point in his life!! He's an absolute marvel, an astonishing artist, clever, and intuitive! Thanks Sir Leonardo da Vinci for that which you left behind! Thanks to the Caretaker's of his works over all these Centuries, not just Year's, but Years, upon Decades, and Decades, upon a few Century's! Just the care it takes to keep these item's secure and intact! Peace to all!
Yea he is the best. He really knows what art is all about. Is not about creating image but an imagination as well as scientific.
Centuries ahead of his time. Innovative, Thinker, Artist incredible, another un-macthed Artists. And engraver, painter , sculpturist. Scientist. Free thinker, a big treath to the Church of his time. A lot of his enovations of his time was surpressed. He like later Columbus, who claimed the earth was round, not flat, was termed dilussonal.👀⏳🎆🇩🇰🇺🇸🎨Thank You ♥️
Genius, master of the art ..painting etc., Leonardo Da Vinci..💖🎨👌😊🌹
I remember a lot of these, but I saw them for the first time in this video. It feels so nostalgic that sketch with the waterfall I remember how it felt like drawing it. I don't understand I have never experienced anything like this. drawing the cats was just for fun😂

It's a lady bug queen
Da Vinci is that just great. Happy to have him on our earth
Nella resa del panneggio resta incontrastato.
My mom said she had a Leonardo DA Vinci sketch and she sold it for little. Now she says she regrets it cause that was way back.. ugh.. I wish I had it. So I could show my school.
You mean original?
And you are convinced that would be able to safely own an item like that? Maybe better that it was sold. Sure as shit as much as I would love to own any work by that great man, better off with a high res replica as I am not sure how soundly I would sleep with the original.
@@ashleycourneyea4643 just keep a low profile and keep it a secret. Not many people knows true value of art, only those well educated.
Ciren Rose,
It is most unlikely to have been a genuine Leonardo. Art collectors have know the value of Leonardo's works for a long time. They are generally in folios belonging to museums.
8:03 what the hell man this isn't a picture>!?!??!?!?!?!
Genio Italiano
Can I get the name of the melody that's being played on this video?

Haunting. As if they're breathing.
What's the name of the one at 4:52??
It's beautiful, and you can see many pictures in it, you can see a war going on, I can also see a glider, gliding over the mountains, with the rock, grass, clouds n sky.
Search for perspective drawings of leonardo, i hope you ll reach the sketch
Better than AI
don't know why , very sad faces in probably all his sketches
Sad face give beautful impression to his work.
Do you know if all of these are 100% by Da Vinci ? Great vid btw, im just interested.
declan ramsey,
Almost everything here is attributed to Leonardo, with just a couple of question marks. The drawing known as the Ugly Duchess at 2:36 has been copied from the work of Quentin Massys, and consequently lack the vitality in the linework that one would expect from a drawing springing directly from the mind of Leonardo himself.
Secondly, the highly finished drawing at 5:15 known as la Bella Principessa, or the Young Bride, has been the subject of recent study and debate, with the British Leonardo scholar Martin Kemp identifying the source of the image as the frontispiece of a large book, given as a gift on the occasion of the girl's marriage.. Kemp believes it to be Leonardo's work, and I agree with him.
Other's do not. The primary reason for disagreement is that it is a highly finished work, and in polychrome, not monochrome.
I also think the drawing with the words da Vinci under it was done by someone else.
jo jones,
Yes, you are right. It is believed to be the work of his pupil Francesco Melzi.
Господи, живодер какой!
fucking genius
That is why I draw Cartman from South Park😂
Where did he get the references for the part inside body?
You don't wanna know. Trust me!
He did some dissections …
On god
Now it's a banana stuck to a wall.
Da vinki?????
Imagine da vinci watching this vid
Da vinci : OHH God they are watching my awful drawings !!!
Edit: i would die
Stop insulting an awesome person who contribute greatness to us. You are nothing conpared to Da Vinci so shut up
@@laos85 I'm not even gonna explain it to you.
Without a degrees of arts. He has done all this amazing work ?. That is a great gift of God. What God give it very powerful and it above human explanation. Great 😱
Calling Leonardo's work a miracle of God should be considered an insult to the man. His work was a result of his own intelligence and ambition, as well as his insatiable curiosity. It is not the miracles of God but the miracles of Leonardo
@@anemone9626 Agree. Is all about dedication and hard work that give such skills. Don't know why kids these day is such clueless.
do a few of those sketches look like the mona lisa? or is it just me
Perhaps? Maybe standart woman look like that at that time sooo....
pretty good for a turtle
Did he disect dead people?
I can not so go of painting en make sket
He drew africans?
No
It's the same artist...the signature is the same writing...but not the same names...perhaps it and the last supper where a collaboration of some kind....he wasn't very good...he was excellent for the time period ... material to use...that is the question?...is it environmentally friendly...the symbolism of the man in flight with feathers...may have to do with trade...much like the black tablets squiggly line means water...delta ki...degree from the handbook on architecture...squiggly blue lines above and below the serrority house...same as on the medium blue book...on water purification...dated 70's....at lot of stoned people got to make decisions...lol... definition of...lmao...break the cycle!!...stop the madness...wow how cool is that...and I bought it for the illustrations...for $1...Robin Williams...give me a dollar...sad..miss him
It's interesting how he drew the male face as doughy, lumpy and gruff, while the females are all very soft, flowing and demure.
...but, I'd imagine if he were to draw the faces of today's angry feminist female, it would be a very different drawing! haha ha!
Kind of gross how they were always drawing from cadavers. Place must've smelled bad.
Expected more...….considering the reputation. Poor guy appears to have had some personal issues. Maybe some emotional problems.
expected more? lol are u an idiot
what a stupid comment
What did you expect?
emotional problems,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yes, it seems apparent in his human head deformations , what was he thinking ?
Sounds like a Yelp review, "Expected more....considering the reputation... would not recommend.... better sketches available elsewhere... 3/5 stars".

Draw a stick man. Can you?. You can't
In your opinion. He wasn't just an artist. But no point in trying with ignorant fucks like yourself
Da Vinci pretty much showcase what arts are really about. Imagination, innovative, cleverness, and understanding of scientist and fact.
I have a book...who's pictures these look like the scetches for....it belonged to Gunter Gable...it's orange with a bright yellow lion in a black shield...it's written in Russian...I bought it for the illustrations...for one dollar...at Maycourt in Windsor...a second hand stores...Leonardo's first comic book...lord of the rings...the original....I have photographic memory...and I found the book...I am twice blessed...the castles mirror what's left of Scotland...life in a cab!?
Someone make sure the president of Russia gets a copy...interesting...kinda sad...I have the illustrations on my phone...but the books stored at my nephew's right now...good thing...my mind is blown...lol...it would blow your mind...beyond the walls of any art gallery...remember
This is the broken sword...in the lord of the rings...the sketches from the original Lord of the rings written in Russian...but it together
Maybe I'm wrong....kinda hoping.......lol..WHERES BRAD!...lol
