That camera was available in more sets than that. It was available with the 1349 LEGO Studios Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set. The only difference that I am aware of, is that the blue and grey on the camera are reversed. To the best of my knowledge, it is the same camera, and the only remaining difference is software.
This is extremely interesting because I have played with my dads old Lego before and he had the space shuttle (with fiber optics) and that control panel.
The original fibre optics (I have the shuttle) were sold at a massive loss - the cost to create this in 1996 was way more expensive than the cost in the set. These days it would be much cheaper to build as LED and the controls are much cheaper to mass produce, but in 1996 it was very special. Have the lego camera - I got it to work on windows XP, but could not get it any more modern OS I have 2 of the code-pilot sets cos the set is so cool. I have the control centre 2 (the T-rex) set. The 4x4 crawler... How sad am I :)
I was given the Control Center when it was released in 1990. I was eight. I remember building the plotter and modifying it to have a multiple pen holder, and fantasizing about somehow connecting it to our PC to… erm… well I wanted to falsify my parents’ signatures. :)
also, i am one of the luckiest persons on EARTH. my mom bought me a random remote control train set from lego back when i was 3 and instead of coming with the standard v1 reciver, it came with THE V2 RECIVER. when i finally watched videos of how rare that darn v2 reciver is and that it dident appear in my set, i was like "oh god, i am so lucky" so due to that that means that there was an error in the lego factory and that they sent the WRONG reciver for my set. so thats how i own a v2 reciver.
@@oldhorn420 i cant belive i got this sorting error, im probably the only person on earth who got the V2 reciever thanks to a factory sorting error, since that set was meant to come with a V1 reciever, im so lucky dude.
The fiber optic was an interesting idea but it was way too expensive to produce; the element alone costed more than the entire set, so Lego was selling them at a huge lose. Those costly features played a part in Lego's 2004 (almost) downfall, so now everything is about cost-saving, even in those 'luxury" car sets you will not find any special feature/functions.
Yeah definitely! That piece never appeared in a set, and was only sold separately. Not many people buy electronics separately, so not a lot of rechargeable battery boxes exist
I have that fiber optic unit from the UFO set! I always wanted to build a V8 that uses the fiber optic cables as spark plug wires, with the light implying combustion (would have to spin at half speed) in the cylinders, but I haven't gotten around to it. Such a cool part, though!
I have four sound sensors that came with a retired Lego nxt set that I got from my school. The set was replaced with Lego ev3s. I have 6 nxts, only 2 are broken, 5 rechargeable battery packs with only one dangerously bloated, a crap load of buttons and ultrasonic sensors, 3 ac chargers, and an unknown amount of USB connectors.
8:30 As a rail enthusiast those are emulating whistle commands that real trains use, although off by one. 1 for stop, 2 for forward and 3 for backwards
You can program the RCX on a Windows 10 PC. You just have to use the education version of the software, called Robolab. And the PC needs to be a 32 bit system.
I have a 8094 control centre with the technical drawing machine. Bought it secondhand as part of a haul, never built it, as it was missing the Technic pen. The NXT sound sensor is not so rare, however, the temperature sensor is!
Many more unique electronics out there: 1. Cybermaster control unit and touch sensors (2 sets, both are the same except one comes with a carrying case ) 2. Interface A for the school exclusive Dacta/Education line, not for retail (2 sets) 3. Control Lab Serial Interface for Dacta (1 set) 4. Technic Speed Computer (2 sets, only the Technic one is available for retail, the other one is for Dacta/Education) 5. Stop watch from the Competition Racers with Stopwatch set (1 set) 6. USB camera from the Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set (2 sets) 7. Micro Scout from Droid/Dark Side Developer Kit(s) (2 sets) And there are many more, Golden age Lego did not hold back when it comes to interesting electronics.
When I saw the control center, i thought you forgot to include the 8485 Control Centre II set having this. I looked at them both and saw that my 8094 controller is labeled Technic Control Center, and my 8485 controllers are labeled Lego Technic Control Center (I have 2 of this set). I noticed that my sets are spelled Center, not Centre. Do you know if there is any difference in the 8094 and 8485 units (perhaps just a difference in the circuit components used). I could open them up and see.
The pf infrared recirver v2 did also came whit the 60051 i notice awhile using it by building the train so ye its not so special becus this set was sold alot Sorry for the bad engels
I believe the V2 receivers are much more common than you think, I've got at least 3 and I don't own any monster trucks, pretty sure at least a couple came direct from the Lego online store.
My grandma had a lego dacta set with old motors that spin fast but are weak The battery pack holds 3 d batterys And there is a light brick for it but I haven't found it in a while The motors don't work due to the bad connection of the wire
So if I have 2 of the original Control Centre units, (both in perfect working order, and one retrofitted with a 10v DC power pack to do away with the need for batteries), one given to me, and the other I grabbed off eBay 18 years ago for - and I'm not making this up - just five bucks, does that make me lucky?
Hey so someone has probably already asked this, but. No6 what is the difference between the two control units? They appear identical besides the East West being blue?
In these times Lego was hemorrhaging money. The company's finances were not well-kept, and they almost went bankrupt. These items were part of the reason why. There was no way they were turning a profit on any of the sets containing these items (of which I own most of them ☺️)
I have an EV3 and NXT and I really hope that EV3 classroom doesn't get removed because I hate programming on the EV3 although I could use scratch but I love my EV3 and NXT I got them for free from my school because they were never being used by anyone but me so my resource teacher said take them and I'm so glad that I have the EV3 and NXT because you can't get them you can only get them used and I got mine in really good condition
I have a few of infared receivers from official Lego power functions! but I dont think it came from those sets. oh never mind mine is probably not rare, damn!
Hi, I'm also just starting out with the Lego RUclips thingy, I've subscribed to you cus I've got your video recommended and I was thinking what would you say about mine, I think u have a bit more experience than me already, thanks and cool video btw, I'd just upgrade the lighting to a softer option
Did you know there was a 9750 computer interface. It came out in 1987 and is labeled Interface 70455. It may have not been available to the public as mine has a label on it stating it once belonged to a school.
AWESOME, as all your videos. Idea for next episode: comparison number of peaces vs. number of pins used in that model. When you compare it through years you will see something interesting ;)
@@Unbrickme would be great, but think those what makes majority of parts (black 2L,blue 3L) would do. More interested in seeing amout of pins used throughout years. Also year/number of parts/ number of pins/steps in instruction would be funny.
the control center 1 isnt as impressive as people think it is. it can only memorize actions and doesn't have any feedback. it just records your input into memory and plays it back. just having the batteries drained a little more can throw it off. its no longer stock, as i had to clean it up due to battery corrosion (it was left in storage for years with batteries installed), i also installed a barrel jack as the battery contacts are very iffy. the cables and motors also did not fare very well, with cable insulation disintegrating over time and contacts corroding. i was able to restore some of the cables but they are also no longer stock and i also ruined one of the motors trying to restore it. i think i built every model in the set and still have all the pieces. i think my favorite build in the set was the drawing machine (plotter, i don't remember what it was called). you could draw a pattern and copy it several times.

they sure were, lego got more simpler when they got more popular

It's a shame theys never made an Exoforce using the Fiber optic part for a cool weapon. A gatling gun or some weird Laser gun would've been awesome.
