How nice to read this Karen. I agree with you that art reaches an unconscious level. Writing is also connecting us on a deep level. I find this all very intriguing how this works. I am glad that it helped you and ofcourse that you subscribed. Thank you.

FB suggested one of your videos last night. I have watched several, and really enjoyed them so I am now subscribed. I am a returning artist and a Writing for Well-being Practitioner. Writing was my saviour, sorting out reasons for episodes of deep depression, weaning me off medication and giving me my life back. Now I am returning to art, as art reaches a different, unconscious level. Thank you so much for inspiration. I agree with your analysis of finding one’s own way in art, finding one’s own style. There are many and varied art tutorials here on You Tube and I think it’s a great opportunity to study various ideas.

Thank you for your video. Your words resonated and touched me. I’m lucky to find your video.

I’m in my 50s and I paint now, after I became severely ill and decided to stop the conventional living life, the living I was forced to choose.

Why I make art, I feel that because I need to express myself while I have me on this planet.
And I want to give love, as I have a lot of it, especially when I don’t have a family who I give it to.

Art and creating art (depends on what you call art, but,…) is love, I feel. 🙂

Thank you for your reaction. Your words touched me. I am happy that you found art to express yourself. Art is, like music, a way to communicate, with the world outside of us but also to ourselves. Go on. 🙏

I used to draw a lot when I grew up. Then I got busy with my life and forgot about it. I took up painting when I was 65 again . I have been taking lessons, but I'm more interested in meeting people with the same interests in class than wanting to be told how to do my art.
I'm learning different techniques , good to know , but, I want to do it my way . I think it's important that you keep your own style.

So good that you started again with art. I agree with you and you certainly are at an age that you start with it your way. It’s your time now. Have fun.

I forgot about my painting skills all the way as my life happened but from time to time it breakes out of me and I start sketching, or sewing, or crafting, or sometimes painting. I´m so with you with looking at things and seeing the beauty in it (like composition or colors) or looking at a started abstract painting and seeing things in it. I like all that realistic artists with the flower and animal paintings, but know I will never have the patience (not even now at age of 62) to do something like this. I never did a class but looked lots of tutorials the last few years to understand the paint/water for getting the things that I can see better out of the piece I´m working on. So I decided to do more abstract or semi abstract paintings and this works for me. The only thing where I do more realistic is my grafite pieces. So I know, that I´m an artist although nearly none knows me or my art, except of the ones I gifted my artwork to, which is mostly my family.

For me, art is a way to escape from reality, by immersing myself in the world I create on canvas, it's helped me through some tough times, and I've had several of them, when I've had a rough day, all I want to do is paint something, I like to think of it as a type of therapy, at least for me, thanks for sharing your stories 😊

I can’t stop thinking of making some kind of art. For years I have done that. But I struggle with a resistance inside me. I have no answer to why I want to «make», it’s just a strong wish. Some times I feel almost angry thinking of making art, so this confuses me.
Just found you here on RUclips, and really like listening to what you have to say. Best wishes from Anne in Norway.

You don’t have to make art if it isn’t right for you now. Silly things can help to overcome an obstruction like do a very big or on the other hand extremely small painting. Or try to hit the paper with closed eyes and go on from there. I once spoke a woman who was in a heavy time of her life and could only scratch. Give yourself time and be gentle. Good luck

For me it's good that you choose to use English. If you hadn't I wouldn't have subscribed to your channel and I'd have missed a nice person's view on art (and life). My (step-)father had a similar rule, not only no talking but the rest of the family had to wait until he had finished his meal before being "allowed" to leave the table. That would have been o.k. if he didn't usually got a second helping 😕 Anyway, I'm happy I subscribed and I have your start page (?) open to watch your other videos one by one 🥰

Thankyou for your inspirational video. You have given me the courage to just have a go. Like you I need to be doing something creative every day. Like you I also have five children. All grown up now, and therefore have the time to invest. Keep up the creative video's and enjoy your life. Regards Judy from Australia.✍️🖌️🎻🧵☕🍰

I am glad that you will have a go at being creative and making art. I don’t have 5 children, though I would have liked to have them but it stayed at two. I am the 6th child of my parents though.
Thank you for reacting Judy from Australia from the Netherlands on a grey day with dropping temperatures towards winter. 7 degrees Celsius right now. Enjoy your day.

I am enjoying your channel now. You just popped up in my feed! I never went to art school but I took a drawing class in person , not RUclips which was very helpful. I am taking some classes to learn new techniques online that I learned about on RUclips. It’s just great fun and fills a deep need to create and play with beautiful colors!

I'm in the UK been in complete limbo with all the corrupt COVID past 4 years, with the new USA government I finally see light for the world and I feel artistic again like a weight lifted off my shoulders
So much corruption world wide will be exposed
