Not sure what the mystery was, it was a battle cruiser, not a battleship, with thin deck armor. One of the Bismarck's first salvos went through that thin deck armor like butter and hit its magazine.
Prinz Eugen, pronounced "Prinz Oi Gen". Get it right or stop, please, for history's sake. Also it wasn't one of the worst explosions in British Naval History. During the Battle of Jutland in WW1 multiple British Ships exploded much worse and several went down with all hands. The hood had 3 survivors, though as minimal as possible no where near what happened in WW1. the battle cruiser HMS Indefatigable exploded with 2 survivors, The battle cruiser queen Mary exploded with 9 survivors and the HMS Defence armored cruiser exploded killing all hands.
