Trump is by no means anything near good enough for the White House and now his latest plan 2025 is going down in history as the most vicious plan of destruction of the American Nation and Democracy ever
COVID19 was never the problem, although it didn't help. The fact that Trump and so many other extreme right-wing demagogues got elected over the past decade or so -- before the pandemic -- shows that there is a common denominator at work that has made people in democracies all over the world feel angry. The demagogues blame it on immigrants and "the elites", but the actual cause is the financial-economic strategy that Ronald Reagan introduced in 1981 and that quickly became the universal default not only for the right, but sadly also for the left. It's called neoliberalism and its core policies include privatization, deregulation and taxes breaks paid for by endless austerity measures. The idea was to free the corporations and private enterprises and leave everything to them, because the rising economic tide would float all boats. Unfortunately, that was mostly the freedom to exploit, resulting in enormous income inequality. This is what actually makes life so hard for people. Eventually, it resulted in the political instability we see today. So, if the Democrats and other center-left parties around the world keep pushing those neoliberal policies, sooner or later the Trumps of the world will win. The alternative? Regulate the corporations and tax the rich.
While I tend to at least partially agree, on the part that the whole democratic system is at fault since no major party is offering answers to the problems we face, and I also partly agree that especially the left is strangely complicit and sometimes seems to have lost their connection to the working class, leaving them alone with their fears, leading to more and more extremist views, I dont think its neccessarily as easy as taxing the rich. The problem is, we live in a more and more globalized world and corporations and rich ppl have allready proven they are very willing to leave their origin country to go where profits are highest or taxes are lowest. I think the problems we have in our globalized world more and more are only solvable by globalized solutions. No single country, or even group of countries like the EU or even the collective west, is able to solve these problems on its own. So it's even more disturbing and disheartening to see more countries fall into the trap of isolationism, which only makes them more dependant on others in the long run - or shatters the living standarts of their population, or both. I also agree that "end stage capitalism" is one of the roots of this problem. but again, i dont think any country on its own is able to solve this. the financial markets alone have such huge impacts on political decisions all over the world. If it were up to me, a reform of the stock market with much tighter regulations would be a good starting point.
And then compare Project 2025 and the recent SCOTUS ruling on immunity to the Enabling Act of 1933. #DemocracyAtRisk en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enabling_Act_of_1933
If you add the population of New York state, Illinois and California you have 70 million people. They are represented by 6 senators, all Democrats. If you add the population of Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and Alaska you have 5 million people. They are represented by 8 senators, all Republicans. So 5 million people get to impose their will over 70 million people You can call that system of governance anything you want, but democratic is not really the description that comes to mind.
our vote is the greatest weapon we have. vote, vote early, and vote often. Local elections are just as important as Presidential, this is how you build a wall against fascism
@@alexthemole2987 Indeed. Although I think @Incessuserro is being sarcastic. For Republicans - with their victimhood mentality - _"early and often"_ somehow means foul play (the word _"often"_ taken to mean _"more than once _*_per_*_ election"_ ). Trump has lowered their collective iQ.
The US is in a pretty good position as a result of Biden's leadership, during nearly impossible circumstances. I think he may still be the best option for defeating Trump & running the country. I believe that he would actually have stepped down if a more promising candidate had stepped forward. Continuing to lead is perhaps the Best thing he can do for our country. The debate showed more issues with Trump than with Biden and the debate circumstances are not indicative of the same skill set for running the country. We are buying into Trump's lies to say he won the debate - the truth is they both botched the debate, but only Biden is honest enough to admit mistakes - we should not be wallowing in several lost train of thought comments of a 90 minute debate! It is not news to voters that Biden is old - I would think that most voters realize that both candidates are beyond average life expectancy. There can be no comparison in the extreme differences in these candidates but a major consideration is that Biden has an entire trustworthy administration that can work seamlessly even if something happens to Biden. Trump's former administration is in jail, or cooking up project 2025! Any administration Trump puts together will likely be entirely corrupt as it will first require that candidates adhere to the election lie. While Biden poses no major concern, Trump is obviously disastrous! We need to make the case to all voters that Democrats are our only hope this year, and ensure democrats have majorities in congress. Don't despair - everyone needs to take action!
I believe it is a stunning act of patriotism for President Biden to run again at his age. He is running because he is the best candidate to beat Trump. All he has to do is get elected and sworn in.
Coming at you from the USA: We have a great plan for this sort of circumstance, elect Joe Biden. Biden is fine, and Harris as his VP backup is an excellent choice. It's that pompous, orange, demented Bozo we need to be concerned about.

When an airplane has run out of fuel, if there is any exit strategy it is beyond foolish to ride that plane into the ground just because you remember when it still had fuel.
It is a stunning act of patriotism for Joe Biden to sacrifice a quiet retirement for the miserable mess that is our democracy so he can save what is still good And the primary voters of both parties bypassed multiple younger candidates in favor of these two octogenarians, it's not the parties's choice. They have to work with the candidates who choose to run.
Biden is still going to win. That’s how bad trump is. People just don’t care what Biden looks or sounds like. The debate didn’t change the vast majority’s mind. Debates aren’t predictive of anything anyway. In 2016 Hillary Clinton won all 3 debates pretty easily.
Speaking as an independent, I haven't been satisfied with our non-choices in candidates since Bush Jr. vs Gore, and it seems like it has only been downhill from there. When it first came to Biden v Trump, of course I far preferred Biden, and yeah, I still do now. I don't like the state he is in and really want him to step aside for someone else from his party, but ultimately I'll take Grandpa Biden over the tyrant.
But remember Hillary Clinton won the election in 2016, it was a rigged Electoral College that doesn't take account of the real election result that put Trump in power.
Allan Lichtman: -3- He said he would seek retribution. Why was that not in the headlines? Why was that not the greatest concern from the debate rather than all the focus on Joe Biden?
Exactly, that is my dad at 94, grandfather at 96, etc. There needs to be lessons in reflection tye practices. 'Why am I feeling like this? What purpose is it serving in the immediate and the global for now and the future?'
President Biden has accomplished an incredible amount during his term. He is not a performer. He gets the job done. The debate was Trump lying over 200 times - which went unchecked. Why aren't you talking about that?
Biden also opened the border to a literal invasion and record inflation with the dollar losing about 25% to 30% of its value since he started. If the economy falters before the election, Trump will win.
Because Biden's performance was so catastrophic that even lifelong Blue types couldn't ignore it. Look, everyone knows Trump is a disaster - nothing new. What they didn't know (or ignored) is that BIden is mentally gone and able to function a few hours a day. Biden won the nomination despite being one of the weakest out there and he won the election by presenting himself as moderate; Once in office he turned sharply left and his numbers never recovered. I am a Republican who voted for him thinking him the best choice but I worry about anyone who saw that performance and wants another four years;
@@Zolotou2604 The difference is that for Trump it's a way of life. Lies, exaggeration, bragging. It's not evil but laziness and stupidity. He'd rather lie than get facts. We _are_ foolish creatures, we only act when a catastrophe arises (climate crisis, Putins wholesale invasion in 2022) & we're slow to empathise with others, thinking mostly about self-preservation rather than how we can help our fellow citizens & through them, help ourselves too. American-style presidential democracy is too vulnerable to a demigod like Trump. It's weakened further with money & laws on the effective legalisation of bribary (e.g. Citizens United 2010) & the new 'above-the-law' ruling of the farce that is the Trumpist Supreme Court (making the president a king).

They are represented by 6 senators, all Democrats.
If you add the population of Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and Alaska you have 5 million people.
They are represented by 8 senators, all Republicans.
So 5 million people get to impose their will over 70 million people

Your eloquence is exceeded only by your knowledge, intelligence and wisdom 😊
I believe it is a stunning act of patriotism for President Biden to run again at his age. He is running because he is the best candidate to beat Trump. All he has to do is get elected and sworn in.
That is a great way to look at this. Biden is definitely a patriot! I am voting for Biden.
Thanks Barbara, well said.
Biden doesn't have to run again. He could just retire .

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote as well. If Russia hadn't interfered directly with the election she would still be president.
But remember Hillary Clinton won the election in 2016, it was a rigged Electoral College that doesn't take account of the real election result that put Trump in power.

Because Biden's performance was so catastrophic that even lifelong Blue types couldn't ignore it. Look, everyone knows Trump is a disaster - nothing new. What they didn't know (or ignored) is that BIden is mentally gone and able to function a few hours a day. Biden won the nomination despite being one of the weakest out there and he won the election by presenting himself as moderate; Once in office he turned sharply left and his numbers never recovered. I am a Republican who voted for him thinking him the best choice but I worry about anyone who saw that performance and wants another four years;
