I got the 2018 SE in gray mica, and couldn't be happier with my purchase! The car is beautiful inside/out, quiet ride, great on gas, and has both the technology and convenience packages.
Rented one of these (2.5L Ascent) to drive from Sydney to the Gold Coast and back. Comfortable and adaptive cruise control was excellent on the motorway. The engine was economical and fine for cruising but a bit lacking under hard acceleration - I'd go for the hybrid or V6 if you're looking for performance.
Good to hear. Agreed on the power point - the V6 is pretty strong but the hybrid is the hidden gem. 160kW is heaps of power and it uses half the fuel of the V6...
This is a most brilliant car! I just bought one - in Blue Mica. Hybrid SL. It has everything a man could want! Lol every gadget except Apple play - but... this can be installed. Brilliant looks and styling and the hybrid is so wonderfully economical! It’s such a well made vehicle. Well done Toyota.
hmm honestly it's a nice looking car, looks sportier with like 4 exhaust at the back but correct me if I am wrong, but pausing at 01:04 I could see. like at least two of those exhaust are not real exhaust?is it only for looks? the exhaust pipes don't go all in while the other two exhaust pipes looks like there's hole in them that go all the way to the catalytic converter underneath the car chassis
Funny how reviewers all like to tell us the V6 was the big news, but in reality almost no one is buying them (a tiny 3%) and Toyota has responded just recently by cancelling the V6.
It's a crying shame drive a 4cyl Camry then drive the Aurion of the same vintage v6 is far better drive, quite, smooth, refined and under hard acceleration make a pleasant exhaust note doesn't sound thrashy like the 4pot and goes like a rocket sports car acleration and only uses about 1lt per 100 extra over the 4cyl and far better resale value Aurion carry about 2k difference over the Camry when 5 or 10 yo
@@robertceroli3512 As it happens, I have an older V6 Aurion currently recovering from being rear-ended. Having driven it for 6 years and I can indeed attest to the good performance, pleasant engine note and general comfort. Ah, well...
it's really nice looking car and I don't mind that they no longer manufacture in Australia but imported directly from Japan. The only downside is no apple carplay and android auto..come on Toyota....what a shame....
I tested the hybrid today. Why battery is nickel metal and not lithium? Nice interior. Nice driving position, good vision. Steering gave the same positive feedback as driving an Xbox ( none!). Going over speed bumps in the car park was so floaty I felt sea sick for the first time in my life. Perhaps a faulty damper? Loved the active cruse control. Has lane warning but not lane keeping. Why do they stick cheap black plastic slats on the back near the lights on upper models? This would definitely be a smart buy as a family car. Rear vents, big boot. It is very economical and will last many years. But I need to feel I am driving a car, not an xbox.
That’s weird.. I thought the air con cooling and heating ducts would both go to the seats? It would not be difficult to do surely.. warm seats in the winter would be fantastic. Oh well...
No - you can still buy the full-size Accord here in Australia but it lags well behind the Camry on popularity. I'm hoping we receive the all-new Accord next year, but Honda Australia have not confirmed it.
The new 8speed automatic transmission feels horrible!! There is delay when accelerating, the car feels like its alway trying to find the right gear to be in. Transmission feels very unnatural.
Valiant AP Yep, I live in The Red Centre and by the time it 9a.m. the windows get wound down and the sun warms the inside very nicely, even before 9. Besides, how long does in takw to drive to work in The Alice? I call it the "five minute town". Are we really that precious?
Looked at these at the local Toyota dealer yesterday. Sorry but they're still a snooze. If you buy one of these you will be mistaken for an uber 84% of the time.
You’ll be hard pressed to get a manual gearbox from any manufacturer these days. And truly extinct when we transition to electric vehicles in the next decade.
Just another IMPORTED car that will still be as expensive as before the Aussie car manufacturers shut up shop. I am sure that the industry protection on these imported toys will remain.
This car looks amazing ! By far the best ever looking Camry ever
Certainly is, we reckon.

This is one of the most informative and engaging reviews I’ve seen of late, and I’ve watched a LOT lately! Thank you mate!
Perfect car, from design ,technology, size, space to reliability, absolute of everything
Love the interior! I might have to sign up for one! 😎🇦🇺
The interior is massively improved. Plenty of soft touch materials, and a good looking touchscreen.
Great review, to my eyes the new car looks heaps better than the previous generation especially in a darker colour
Thanks - I've heard mixed feedback on the new look, but I think the new generation is much more attractive.

Lol thank you
Camry impressive effort and an impressive review👍

Yep, the new Camry is a very well-rounded vehicle. New deliveries have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fitted as standard, I believe.

Top marks for staying awake, Tom!
Great looking car IMO, Toyota has really stepped up their game. I'm looking forward to the 2019 corolla 12th Gen review!
Us too!

Given this was filmed on the first day the new generation of Camry was available, it’s not exactly surprising I didn’t have a crystal ball
@@chasingcars Absolutely understandable. People are fickle. The hybrid is the big seller contrary to the expectations of many.

update , android auto is available gor 199 dollar at your dealer for the 2017 model with entune 3
Looks nice!
What is this obsessive compulsive disorder with Apple CarPlay? Can somebody explain it?
The exterior grill looks way better than last generations Lexus copy
And btw Tom why in God’s name are u wearing a jumper in summer!?
The overall design feels more resolved to me than most current Lexus models. Good question, Zaib! It was cold in the morning but got very hot!
I didn't think that I like the new Camry. But that has changed. Perhaps the v6?
It’s a much improved car and the V6 goes particularly well.
Chasing Cars ...and 220 plus kilowatts is plenty of oomph 😆
Good for passing those road trains along the Stuart Highway 😉
Beautiful looking new Camry, looks like it could have been the nextHonda Accord Euro
Actually, you’re spot on - we hear that the designer admires the Accord Euro
Chasing Cars does not surprise me,look at the design of the rear lights the way they wrap around the sides
Just bought the 2019 Camry SL Hybrid, and wow what a car!
It ticks a lot of boxes! Glad you’re happy with it Gregory.
I love your channel

hi tom, any chance of a review on the Abarth 124 spider?
Yep coming up in the new year.
Chasing Cars thanks mate
In ireland they retail for €40000 ($55000)
We're getting ripped off so bad it's not even funny anymore

ever seen an li-on battery have a thermal runaway?
Bring back the Camry wagon!
Agreed!
And a hybrid for the Kluger!
@@hazeroth hybrid for kluger is coming next year
@@BoomChing Yay! Finally!!!
I thought the SL has both ventilated and heated seats ?
No, only ventilated in Australia
That’s weird.. I thought the air con cooling and heating ducts would both go to the seats? It would not be difficult to do surely.. warm seats in the winter would be fantastic. Oh well...
Chris O'Regan I was thinking the same.. pity I reckon
The 2 usb ports don`t come in the back on the us models smh
That's frustrating. They should come on every grade, including the base model.
Is the honda accord discontinued
No - you can still buy the full-size Accord here in Australia but it lags well behind the Camry on popularity. I'm hoping we receive the all-new Accord next year, but Honda Australia have not confirmed it.
Chasing Cars I've watched a review on the 10th generation and they said it's only for the American market
I don't think that course of action is a confirmed one. Who said that?
It was a mistake
Chasing Cars he actually said 11 million was made in America
The new 8speed automatic transmission feels horrible!! There is delay when accelerating, the car feels like its alway trying to find the right gear to be in. Transmission feels very unnatural.
Any chance of doing the 2018 Honda Jazz review?
Yep, subscribe and you'll see it in the first few months of 2018.
Heated seats for Oz.....nah. Not neaded for most buyers.
Unless you live in the southern states, especially Tassie and Victoria. Cold winters!
Chasing Cars Bless 'em. They are mostly greenies and should be conserving energy.
LOL

sounds like the road noise into the cabins quite loud.

If you get the SL you won't be mistaken for an uber driver. The panoramic sun roof is very luxurious
No manual transmission 🔢= no buy
Not screaming in high rpm 💨= no buy
No pop 🔥 = no buy
No crack 💥= no buy
Turn my head to Honda FD2R
It’s a Camry

@@Nicholas.T no worry petrol cars are here to stay, EV are hype until we reached 2050 onwards.

Acoustic is the theme here. Most people like it!
Chasing Cars fair enough. Watch anything by chris harris and see how they use music in their videos.
ubernoob103 hey we're dueling banjos here...

Great review, must agree on the music though!

George Daws yep, that tax should be removed now but of course it wont be
