great playing for middle school level but here are some things i noticed 1st movement - euph solo needs to be much smoother - there’s many spots where the band is aggressive, remain calm and let the music play itself, this is why the suite is so great -maintain the 6/8 feel throughout the “cloudy banks” part of the movement - articulation during “cloudy banks” 2nd movement - balance chords with the clarinet - tuning on longer notes - trumpet solo more confident (very picky) 4th movement - alto sax timing - whole bands articulation on the melody rhythm first introduced - keep the starting tempo throughout the whole movement if it’s appropriate - euph first solo, play the written rhythm at all times, watch tuning on those dotted half notes - balance of different melodies with different bass lines is spotty sometimes - second euph solo, should be much smoother, and correct articulation -tuba solo, playing loud and playing aggressive are two different things, you have to be heard but you also have to sound good and have an appropriate intention of sound not sure why they didn’t play the 3rd movement but like i said amazing playing, this middle school has always been an ecosystem where musicians thrive
My guess is that they wanted everything to sound great. Song of the blacksmith is tricky. Could they play it? Yes. But it's important to make sure the kids aren't stretched too much.
Amazing playing as I have always said of this group. It is clear why they have been state honor band a few times now I am somewhat amazed that the high school that they feed has not though?
Amazing tone quality for a middle school.Fantastic Oboe player and a few others...principal clarinet and trumpet are all great players

If they played the third movement, this guy would hit a character limit
2nd Suite in F sounds as good or better than most high schools I've ever heard play it. This is pretty unbelievable for a middle school group.

Wonder why they didnt play the " Song of the Blacksmith" Movement . I feel like they definitely have the players
