Hey Anson, sorry for the late reply. Manitoba has no emissions test requirements that I know of, however most provinces have some sort of regulation on what modifications (and/or to what degree) can be made to vehicles before it becomes not road worthy/safe. e.g. Lifting of trucks/SUVs are allowed in most provinces, however, the legal height and width will vary. Also keep in mind that due to insurance coverage differences, your insurance company might also have further restrictions. You do not want to modify a vehicle that will potentially void any insurance coverages. I suggest talking to a reputable car mod shop, or, even your local police department for clarifications if in doubt.
@@Christopher9835 Agreed, I wouldn't pretend to be an expert in all provinces, as I don't think there is one person in Canada that are fluent in all legal ramifications across all provinces, not to mention cities. Yes, different cities actually have different bylaws as well, e.g. a ridiculous one in BC used to be that you can't tint the front windows, UNLESS your address is in Burnaby. They did change and unify the codes since then, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are still some antiquated laws that are still floating around somewhere in Canada. Since modifying vehicles not only falls under vehicle safety laws, but also insurance coverage requirements, potentially exposing the owner legally, Google might not be the best resource. I would suggest talking to local/provincial certified mechanics, or safety inspection approved garages. If need to, having written reassurance from your insurance broker and/or local law enforcement branches clarifications will be prudent for more extreme or exotic mods. Better safe than sorry, as "sorry I didn't know" or "Google told me" doesn't sit well with the law. Hope this helps.
