Almost Andromeda quality of facial animations, you did it again, Bioware! Amazing! Also, why are the characters kinda squint/cockeyed? And the qunari so smooth like it's made of plastic?

The movement speed of the characters is fixed, but players have either a short or tall build. So the short ones will move faster, while the tall ones will move slower, which looks uncoordinated.
@@chadiaffan1956 actually, it's very surprising. Souls is a very specific style of game that not all gamers play or WANT to play because of the sky high difficulty. DA gamers are not toe to to melee at all times people. They're strategists. They like to pause play and set up combos that they design to take care of various combat problems.
LOL. Thinking of my poor mage vs. the Arishok. Lots of hit him really hard, and then run away. Hawk really should not have been the one in that combat.
Running animations look really off, like the character has skates on. Also the real lack of facial animations.. its like Andromeda all over again! Environments look really nice and combat looking decent
It's like they put so many textures into the world that they forgot to put any onto the character's faces and bodies. Also, no foot prints left in the snow!? Even Inquisition does that!
@@JD-Media If Bioware don't break the streak of piss-poor releases they got going, there won't be a DA5. I'm intrested to see what they did with desire demon, where's my mommy demon?
Great, another Darkspawn redesign and it looks worse than the last one. A Greater Ogre that is barely larger than the player. What the hell are they doing? Those monsters used to be towering over people. Remember the finishing animation from Origins? With the player jumping on to the Ogre thrusting his blade into its skull? Why move away from that?
Geez, *that* part of Orzammar's story still haunts me in my nightmares. Cuting through darkspawn all the way to Branka in the Deep Roads was something, huh.
They were. I'm guessing the pools have something to do with Ghilan'nain, as an alternate way of cloning or genetically engineering them. I've heard something like them appeared in the short story "Horror of Hormak" from Tevinter Nights.
It's crazy to me that Dragon Age Inquisition was Bioware's first game on the Frostbite engine and is their most polished looking. Their games on the engine should have gotten better post Inquisition but it's gone in the opposite direction. You could blame Andromeda on being developed by the B Team that was too prideful to lean on the Inquistions teams knowledge. What's Veilguard's excuse? At least the environments look solid. Wish the characters models got the same level of care.
Veilguard also created by Mass Effect team, that's the excuse and the fact. Most of Dragon Age team members already left Bioware in 2016 when EA terminated Dragon Age: Dreadwolf project. That's why the gameplay feels like Mass Effect game.
They should make the companion attacks do more damage. It's weird that Rook is taking out 5 or 6 opponents and these battle-hardened warrior companions are struggling to double-team a single basic darkspawn in the background... and they are doing all these really cool looking flashy moves to boot!
Aw man..... I'm getting "my face is tired" flashbacks from these character face models..... everything else looks great but the faces are ugh (they look cross-eyed).... even Davrin's is all off. Do they not have performance capture tech, or.... what's going on?
its so bad that you only control 1 char, the companions cant even work as tanks, you have to run around as a mage, attacks even slower than when you have THREE other party members in previous games. What are they thinking?
The quanari in the canon are pretty much confirmed to be part dragon. Why do they look more human in this entry lol. Looks like my boi got cheek filler and a rigorous skin care routine
Glad I'm not the only one that thought so, the character sort of "shuffles" around the battlefield, there's something stiff about the way the shoulders and hips move.
Dragon's dogma has this slider that allows you to adjust how you character walk/move, here hoping DAV has one as well and however created this char decided to give him this
Looks like a decent 3rd person action rpg set in the Dragon Age universe. I'd love to see a sequel to DA:O some day, though! Not just in name, but in game-type!
@@Jerimiaz 100%. What changed development wise from Origin to DA:2? They made a different game completely and every one since has been a reboot on design/models. Thankfully elves are better. Even the story doesn't seem to track from Origin to where we are now.
You notice it's literally almost Andromeda 2? Almost everything looks like it's from the same team. The art, the gameplay style and facials. Etc. It's kinda like they didn't want to make a dragon age game, considering this is Mass Effect almost.
Yeah it’s the fortiniteification of media. Take a dark fantasy and make it look cartoony and made for toddlers. I’m so sick of this crap. They know the Witcher sold well right?

Don't buy it then 😂
you sound like a beta
not a good point because this looks pretty well designed
@@MrJJDIZZLE23 that's the plan indeed
Character running animation looks like he is running on ice
It looks like a rez of MShep running animation from ME1.
The movement speed of the characters is fixed, but players have either a short or tall build. So the short ones will move faster, while the tall ones will move slower, which looks uncoordinated.
It actually reminds me of Ace Ventura's walk.😂
that really bothered me! He is soooooo slow
He runs like a pansy in a Resident Evil game.
Resident Evil 7 running like
This looks like a great game to get on sale or on game pass in a couple of years
To never actually play it.
Coming from dragon age inquisition- my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
just whats wrong with textures? like we're inside disney cartoon omfg
give us 22 minutes of character creation
on twitter it was hinted that IGN will be covering cc eventually
Better yet, give us a character creation demo that can carry over to the main game. Dragons dogma and even saints row did it.
Who decided to switch dragon age's art style to cartoonic??????????? you fools!!!
Diablo 3 route
@@aliensounddigital8729 even diablo 3 has a more serious and better art style then this slop
Was there a curse of cross-eyedness afflicted on the world?
Will there be nugs? The true masters of Thedas.
Asking the important questions.
This will be the last Dragon Age game, all the ones afterwards will be called Nug Age
Taash (qunari huntress) loves nugs
We got to see a screenshot of a companion's room that has a LOT of Nug statues that they have maybe widdled.
We need the big king back
This is a hit and run gameplay, WTF have you done.
This whole gameplay felt like watching Hawk vs Arishock
Hey all devs are chasing the Souls-like genre, is no suprise it is another game chasing it.
@@chadiaffan1956 They are "chasing" Soulslike as much as a toddler is "chasing" Usain Bolt.
@@jenniferhansesHonestly
Running animations look really off, like the character has skates on.
Also the real lack of facial animations.. its like Andromeda all over again!
Environments look really nice and combat looking decent
As someone said, looks like Steven Seagal mocapped the running animation 🤣
Pretty sure this is the Montreal team from Andromeda. Too much of the style and design is in there from Andromeda.
Enchantment?
Enchantment!
Not enchantment
Enchantment!
Boom
Enchantment!
It's like they put so many textures into the world that they forgot to put any onto the character's faces and bodies. Also, no foot prints left in the snow!? Even Inquisition does that!
Smooth Operator ❌
Smooth Qunari ✅
Orges are looking pretty short considering in all 3 games they towered over everyone big enough to grab you with one hand
"The Darkspawn are now lame because Ghilaihinihinain made them lame, blame her not us, it's lore reasons" - minor the Sims DLC expert Corine Something
Every game the Darkspawn get a lamer character design. Just you wait until DA5
@@JD-Media no they don’t the ogres looked more disturbing in inquisition with their eyes sunked into their sockets
@@4RedJohn That is not what they said, troll.
It graphics look weird
The Blight is spawning darkspawn from pools? Weren't they birthed from broodmothers or from corrupting people?
Geez, *that* part of Orzammar's story still haunts me in my nightmares. Cuting through darkspawn all the way to Branka in the Deep Roads was something, huh.
They were. I'm guessing the pools have something to do with Ghilan'nain, as an alternate way of cloning or genetically engineering them. I've heard something like them appeared in the short story "Horror of Hormak" from Tevinter Nights.
Lol who cares about lore. Its about running to the exclamation marks and enjoying the huge garish ui and the fortnite combat.
what are you? lore nerd? enjoy our purple fortnite combat and plastic face kunari
They said that Ghilan'nain created the Blight, so she is making them do that
These developers don't know what Dragon age is or what their fans want. Bioware is done after this.
They don't even know what a woman is. 🙄😭
Running animation looks like an 80’s song film clip of dancing.
Spoiler warning Rook saves the world by winning an epic dance off, just like Footloose the best movie ever made
More like crapped their pants
Dragon Age: The Concordguard
it's more true than you think...
@@AUEN1512 They terminated dreadwolf? lol.. guaranteed it was a lot better than whatever this is.
This is Dreadwolf. It just had its name changed.
well, its difficult for the da team to make the game, when they no longer work for the studio X D
Still not sold on the 3 skills mage combat.
Same, its a pass for me until the modding community make it so we can have more than 3 skills equipped.
@@jamesstephenson1983Can’t mod frostbite unfortunately so this game is going to remain mediocre
Exactly! Why aren’t more people complaining about this? It will get so boring if you only have 3skills.
This is not mass effect :(
Imagine studying magic for decades and finally getting your hand on a magical grimoir...only to realize that said book only contains THREE spells.
From 8 spells in inquisition too 3 spells. Man why?
They should make the companion attacks do more damage. It's weird that Rook is taking out 5 or 6 opponents and these battle-hardened warrior companions are struggling to double-team a single basic darkspawn in the background... and they are doing all these really cool looking flashy moves to boot!
feels like solo main character game more than team based one :D it just feels like Rook has 6 more skills and nobody besides him
First rule when watching IGN….believe 10-15% of what they say.
This Alpha build look promising... Wait it is supposed to come out this year ?
this is not Alpha build and not beta its the finished game
Aw man..... I'm getting "my face is tired" flashbacks from these character face models..... everything else looks great but the faces are ugh (they look cross-eyed).... even Davrin's is all off. Do they not have performance capture tech, or.... what's going on?
Yeah these cross-eyes are freaking me out. Like, who the hell made these models?
@@Oozaru85 Right?
Everything else does NOT look great lol. The combat looks so slow, lame, and clunky.
@@RilfDanielson Also not to mention the performance issues like 12:29
The animations are… less than stellar.
It’s so weird that people move so much while speaking and remain emotionless.
Maaaan the look on that Qunari is so bad, looks badly like a human cosplaying a Qunari
I’m glad I’m not the only one to think this
The thing they've been since Inquisition?
@@Dragonage2ftwOrigins too tbh
Qunari in DAO looked like just tall grey humans though
It's the Rook character. You can make your Qunari look however you want.
Wtf is up with the player characters face, terrifying like some kind of qunari, plasticine horror
Yea not a fan- uncanny valley. Maybe just overworked in the character creater?
Yeah, I'm sure in the character creator we can make qunari actually look like qunari.
The enemy designs look the same. Why did they go with this aesthetic especially for this ip

That quanari looks so uncanny. Not to mention the damn six-head he has. That unnaturally smooth skin is creepy af.
its so bad that you only control 1 char, the companions cant even work as tanks, you have to run around as a mage, attacks even slower than when you have THREE other party members in previous games. What are they thinking?
The quanari in the canon are pretty much confirmed to be part dragon. Why do they look more human in this entry lol. Looks like my boi got cheek filler and a rigorous skin care routine
They looked exactly the same in Inquisition, and in Origins they looked just like tall humans.
@@Nemisionnno, why are you lying?
11:04 "You look a bit worried" .....Does She?!?😮 I can't tell!😂
The voice direction failed here too, she doesn't even sound worried lmao
The running animation is a bit weird, looked better in previous gameplay showcases.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought so, the character sort of "shuffles" around the battlefield, there's something stiff about the way the shoulders and hips move.
Maybe it isn't as smooth with a Qunari as with human or elf
Dragon's dogma has this slider that allows you to adjust how you character walk/move, here hoping DAV has one as well and however created this char decided to give him this
Looks like a decent 3rd person action rpg set in the Dragon Age universe. I'd love to see a sequel to DA:O some day, though! Not just in name, but in game-type!
That's never going to happen
We will be lucky if it's even close to da 2
Thankfully there is one! It's called Baldur's Gate 3.
@@Jerimiaz 100%. What changed development wise from Origin to DA:2? They made a different game completely and every one since has been a reboot on design/models. Thankfully elves are better. Even the story doesn't seem to track from Origin to where we are now.
Good lord ten years for this cluster f… I feel like laughing and crying at the same time
I've got a bad feeling about this....
Why does this game look like a "Made for Gen Alpha f2p game as a service"?
Honestly worried about the facial animations, they look VERY bad for a game 1 month away from release
You notice it's literally almost Andromeda 2? Almost everything looks like it's from the same team. The art, the gameplay style and facials. Etc. It's kinda like they didn't want to make a dragon age game, considering this is Mass Effect almost.
looks like they glued real people faces on fantasy bodies, it looks so so odd
Darkspawn look comical.
1:02 My face is tired 2.0 😂
Even dialogue is kind of similar.
"We need a Pathfinder. More than ever".
Something deeply wrong with those animations...
That griffon chick is way too cute.
The Rook's face animations need some work, though.
All face animations need some work. They barely even move.
To be fair bioware faces have already traumatized me to many times to care that much

The game comes out in 1 month, they aren’t changing all the animations in 1 month.
Do your party members even have health bars?
