Porsche 992 GT3 Cup terrorizes track day

- Running a few laps in the Black Wolf Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup at VIR. This is a fun video to highlight the speed differential between quick track day cars and a factory race car.
Ambient temp around 100 degrees, would expect lap times in the high 40s without traffic. GPS speed was lagging behind or randomly inaccurate. Unknown cause, assuming the heat. - Авто/Мото
Dudes warming his tires at 150 🤣
Likely scrubbing debris from them
150 what? cheeseburgers im assuming
@@danielsoto_toronto 150 cheeseburgers is roughly 250 maple syrups. 100k = 62m for simple calcs
I had the volume up on my ear buds waaaaaaaay too loud for the top of 6th gear whine. Smart use of the early up shift to manage the rear end in the first set of esses. That car looks like a ball to drive. Hilarious watching you lap everyone a couple times at least. 🤣
The dealer will tell you that a showroom GT3RS is a track ready race car. It’s very capable and a ball to drive. 😁 for all 30 laps. But, no! This Cup is a track ready race car…by mile! Outstanding video 👍🏾
Thanks! All of Porsche's RS street cars are excellent track toys. Fast, reliable, fun. But they will always miss out on the raw unadulterated experience of speed and the feeling of being mechanically linked to the car that you get with the Cup.
Looking forward to driving the 992 GT3 RS.
@@WyFoster 100% the purpose built nature of a race care even with the same HP and as advanced as the new 3RS is still too much for an amazingly advanced street car you can track.
Yeah and now try taking the cup on the road... What a dumb comment.
Dealers don't tell you that - they will tell you the the RS is track capable street legal car. The GT3 RS is probably the best track capable road legal car you can buy off the shelf in either 991.2 GT3 RS form or 992 GT3 RS form, the fastest round a track is dependant on tires e.g. Cup 2 Vs Cup 2R (for the same driver). A Cup car on race slicks is around 3 to 4 seconds per minute quicker than a GT3 RS.
Good Lord, so many things I enjoyed on this vid…. The sounds, the way the car was so poised hitting the curbs and of course nice driving. Love the post, keep it up, stay safe
That much speed difference at track days is asking for trouble.
Love the Brumos livery! Great driving as well 👏👏
Thank you! If you want to see more of the car check out @bwmpvb on Instagram. Some really cool stuff on there.
What's really crazy is the difference between a track only car and a road car. The best time set by a road car (as far as I know) is a 2.34 by a Mclaren senna. This is 40 seconds faster than that. That might be one of the craziest things ever as have driven one of them before. Some road cars are truly special, but nothing will ever compare to these track beasts. I also think the cup car is cheaper than the Senna, so maybe a better purchase if you plan to only really go to track days.
What an experience this must be!
had a multi-class test on a 992 Cup with TCRs, VW Beetles, Mitjet, Mini Coopers etc. on track last month. Kinda had the same great feeling of being twice as fast as everyone else 😆😆😆
Kick ass bro. Proud of you.
This was awesome ride.
That was some driving. What a car!
That was awesome lol the closing speed esp under braking is nuts ... The want for a cup car is even worse after watching this
That's definitely something this car excels at. 2.1g under braking, a nicely prepped track car is happy to hit 1.2.
It's basically double the braking force of most cars.
@@WyFosterThey seem to be such a great driving experience. I've been looking at 991.1 cups for a track day car.. lol probably won't be anywhere close to your pace but still fun
@@ls1jeeper I'll tell people, these are the cars you dream about, you just might not know it yet.
Very quick, comfortable, and composed.
@@WyFoster Hopefully I'll find out in a few months 😁👍
This is sick. Why do you go side to side at 0:44 ? Warm the tires?
Thanks,
Yes, that is the out lap. Not on a flying lap so I usually do so to put some heat in the tire and get them up to pressure. Still takes about a lap and a half to do so. Even on a 90° day.
So sweet, curious how it stacks up in the rankings for cars you've driven...?
As far as GT cars go, it's hard to beat. It's such a well rounded car, very well damped, and well behaved. I think it's really the type of car everyone dreams of driving.
It's not quite on pace with an FIA GT3, though quite close. But you don't care because it's such a fun driving experience.
I need more
seems to be running with the wrong crowd... what an amazing car.
ive always been curious, is the gear whine like ear splitting in real life or does it get kinda drowned out by the rest of the racecar noises? haha
This is one of the loudest cars I've driven. I'd say it feels like a 50/50 split of gearbox and engine noise. Seems a little louder to the camera than what I experience.
May be a stupid questikn but how did you get the porsche dashboard thingy on the screen?
That's a Vbox HD2 system recording the video which can overlay live telemetry from the car.
@@WyFosterthanks man! I was looking everywhere for an answer.
👏🫶 this is the kind of music I love 👌 great driving btw mate 👏👍
I owned this car. It was amazing. I own the new 992 GT3 RS, which is close, and the 992 GT3 (manual) and a GT4 RS. They are all amazing, and very different even though they all share basically the same engine.
what was your running costs like on the cup car?
@mcintosh.motors I bought the car and let a race team manage it. I provided the car and they covered the costs. At the end of the season I got to keep the car. Porsche wouldn't let it go straight to my garage. It had to compete in a race series for a season first.
This is not what you owned. This is heavily modded
@@nicklovely6431 Huh? I owned a 992 GT3 Cup. That's a race car. Not street legal. Do some research next time before showing your ignorance. Besides, what do mods have to do with whether I owned a 992 GT3 Cup or not? smgdh
You won practice for sure !
Definitely won the HPDE championship!
Yep, looking at one to compliment the 458 Challenge. Cup is more car, no doubt….esp the 992.
The brakes on this car are unworldly...
@WyFoster Is this scene from VBOX?
From Porsche Motorsport for Vbox I believe.
@@WyFoster Thank you for getting back to me. We are trying to get this onto our GT3 Cup car!
the VIR main track without any infield just seems kinda boring. I hate to say it, I still love this track but this route is just too much straight. It's like 3 corners per side on a 3-something mile course.
Find a topographic map. The curves at the top left corner are a large descent.
3:25 Good lord!! I love that high pitched screaming coming from this car!!! Sounds a lot different coming from my girlfriend when she's on her period though 💀😓
Maybe it's not the right trackday for cup cars.... maybe...
Bad ass car!
Brown pants @ 1:50
Me if I win the lottery (I’d be driving 1/3 as fast)
Is this what chin is all about? Letting a full blow race car run with some weekend warriors?
Sometimes Chin has 15 Cup cars and Clubsports in their Red group. Definitely need to be aware.
💀
😂😂 the swerve side to side down the straight is so disrespectful 🤣🤣
How so? That was just the outlap from pitlane. Just trying to warm the tires and get the pressures up.
@@WyFoster lol because everyone else is topping out and your just like la da dee la daa warm up some rubber, maybe bake a cake...
@@WyFoster IYKYK
'Promosm' 😭
VIR is the worst circuit on the fcking earth , i hate that circuit, a real nightmare, with full of hard turns, and no space to surpass any car bc of that fucking small circuit to surpass
