    This is such an emotional finale. I cry every time, it starts big time at 2:02! OMG!! If I was at this concert I would die. I would have no problem running toward the white light with this playing.

    Surprise final cadence after what sounds like a concluding peroration on Db Major [I] that began at 1:35:
    Time Chord Figured Bass Function
    2:07 Ab Minor v dominant minor
    2:12 Fb Major bIII dominant minor with an increase of chromatic tension
    2:22 Db Major I Tonic
    Completely original and displays the genius of Janacek.

    I prefer the cameras focus on the players rather than the conductor. On the other hand, I love this ending, one of my favorites ever: glorious!

    Ah, playing this video on a cold night under blankets. It's funny because, when I looked up the night sky, there appears to be a second moon.. a smaller, green kind of lopsided copy of the bigger one beside it.

    Are those their regular trumpets? Or special kind?

    • @mmarks4
      @mmarks4 6 лет назад

      Here is Boulez and BBC Symphony doing the Sinfonietta. The trumpeters have "regular" trumpets? But I think they do stand, in the Fanfare and Finale. In this Berlin clip, very pleasing staging! ruclips.net/video/xG8k0SgBq_E/видео.html

      Especially in austrian and german orchestras the "german" rotary valve trumpet is used. They sound different, more mellow, less fanfary and bright as piston trumpets. Here i would have preferred piston trumpets, but that is just a question of taste. And tradition.

      Thank you, very helpful! I'm not sure if I needed them any brighter, but it's smack dab in the world of fanfare! :-)
