My mother taught me how to read using that yellow book in 1998. Only a few months before I started kindergarten. I can remember it so well. Now it's come full circle for me, because here I am teaching my 5 year old just months before HE starts kindergarten! Great book. 100% Recommend
*Learning with this program has been a dream to use in my classroom **Childent.Study** It wholly supports my basal syllabus, but more than that, the program has even exceeded what basal offers. It is more reliable and more engaging.*
I bought the book and my child learnt to read by herself by around lesson 80...I am amazed...I highly recommend this book but also pls learn the sounds yourself perfectly first before teaching your child
My mother was a brilliant educator. She actually used me as a guinea pig in the early 70s. I was barely out of infancy and I learned to speak and read at an outrageously early age thanks to this method. I was never a whiny child, she said. I was too busy reading, playing music and making friends! I recall that she had large text books with letters on each page. That vision is imprinted in my mind. I have a cassette tape somewhere also of one of our lessons in 1973 when I was two years old.
I've been an elementary teacher for 6 years, I just picked up the book on a whim. My mind is completely blown. Especially the QU blend. Koo makes so much more sense. I'm so excited to use this program.
My partner is really proud of his son’s reading capabilities and he is sharing his story to everybody. We teach our son how to read with the aid of this phenomenal reading guide ChildrenLearningReading5.blogspot.com We used to read to him before going to bed, but now he picks out his personal books and reads to us.
This is great! English is not my first language and I am teaching my kid to read using this program. Great to get the exact pronunciation for each sound-symbol.

1:34 Does anyone have advice on how to approach "a"? The sound aaaaaaa as she says in the video makes sense for "apple" and "at", but I'm struggling to produce the same consistent sound when saying words like "am" or "and".
Hello! The sound for "a" in the words "am" and "and" are the same as in "apple." Take a look at the video of the author teaching a word reading exercise of Lesson 13 of "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons:" ruclips.net/video/iQsmSrm0WK4/видео.html
So nice to see someone else say this. We just started this book and having so much trouble with "am" - I never thought I had an accent but I definitely say am much differently than apple for the A's. It's making it harder for my 5 yr old but we're both practicing together
@@susansyverud7950 thank you for responding and sharing the video. I watched it and I’m still a bit confused. I hear the “a” as in “Apple” sound during the slow sounding out, but as soon as the child speeds up the word “man” I don’t hear the “a” in the same way. The book has been really great otherwise and we’re making progress, I’m just trying to make sure I’m not confusing my student. If there are any other videos you would recommend, I’d love to educate myself.
RUclips says your comment has some replies already but it won't show me what they are. This exact question is what prompted me to search for pronunciation videos and I guess I'm going to just go with "ah" as in apple since that's what she says in this video. I also have sat here for 5-10 minutes saying "and" trying to make that sound and it's just not working out for me. I don't really have any sort of accent so I'm not sure what the issue is. Maybe "and" was just a poor choice of example word?
