Good morning. Thank you for the comment and I am glad the tutorial helped. Are you referring to the backup battery in the Command panel? If so, there a few ways to get it. If you go to your MyADT account online you can get a backup battery there. This is also where you can update billing, request additional yard signs and stickers, etc. If you are already an ADT customer I would go on there first. If you don’t have a MyADT account setup yet I have another video on setting that up. It’s an easy process. Also I do know they sell them on Amazon if you search for ADT Command Panel Battery. How do i reset the garage motion sensor? I’m watching a friend’s house and i had to replace the garage sensor battery, since then it shows “Tamper 10 garage motion” and the control panel is flashing an orange light, I don’t think the alarm is getting activated when I have to lock the house. Help. 😢
Hi. I made a video on sensor tamper alerts and what to do to clear it. Watch that video. What is most likely happening is by taking off the cover to replace the batteries it started tampering and beeping to let you know it’s been tampered. This happens when you take off the cover or someone is messing with it. First try to go to the panel and hit disarm and put in your code. That should clear the tamper. If that doesn’t work then the motion detector was not fully put on correctly and check to make sure it is. I also have a video on replacing batteries and in that video it shows the motion detector. But if it was on correctly the first step of just putting in the code should clear the tamper and give the ready to arm
@@welchsecurity thank you, i will check those videos out. If the back plate clips are damaged can I just tape it or should I replace just the back plate or the whole sensor? I hope you also have a video on how to replace and pair a new sensor. 😅

Rob, awesome video. I've been so frightened of my system as a senior citizen. I'm getting ready to have the interior of my home painted and wondered if you have any instructions on how to disable and remove the keypad and power supply attached to an electrical outlet so that those areas can be painted? Thank you in advance.
Hi Jill. If you call into ADT they can definitely help you with that info on the phone. Let them know what you are planning and they will be able to provide that in detail. I appreciate you letting me know you enjoyed the video.
I currently have Vivint and love the voice prompts. However, I'm considering switching to ADT because of problems with Vivint, only issue I noticed with the chime/voice prompts with the door is the huge delay. Has it always been like that since you purchased your system?
When you say main point of entry are referring to the front door? The reason I ask is there are two settings the door/window sensors can be set to. Entry delay and Instant Perimeter. The doors that you typically use to enter your home like the front door and garage door are set or at least should be set to entry delay. That way when you walk into the house the panel will give you time to disarm the system. Doors like the back doors or windows you wouldn’t typically be using to access your home so these should be set to Instant Perimeter. This means if the alarm is set and someone opens as window or the doors set with instant perimeter the alarm will automatically start sounding and not give the countdown to disarm the system. On the panel and on the ADT Control app you can arm your system and remove the entry delay from the sensors with entry delay temporarily. This is useful for when you are going to bed at night and you are not planning on having anyone come into the house at night. You wouldn’t want someone breaking in the front door and just getting an alarm countdown to disarm the system. You would want the alarm to automatically sound to wake you up. This would be a scenario on why you would arm the system and press no entry delay. After the system is disarmed like in the morning the entry delay is back on unless you once again press the no entry delay button when you go to arm the panel again. You can not change the sensors settings for what has entry delay and what has instant perimeter yourself. The technician when installing sets those. Again, it’s typically the doors you use to come and go from the house that are set with entry delay. If there are doors or windows that are not on the setting you would like. For example the front door does not give you time to come in and shut off the alarm and you didn’t turn off entry delay yourself it might be set on instant perimeter which is odd and should not be. You can call into ADT and ask them to change the setting on the sensors. I hope that helps. I also have videos on my channel showing how to turn off entry delay from the panel and app too
@@welchsecurity, thanks. We have a gate and use the back door as our main door for us. I'll just have to unarm the system on my phone. I cancelled ADT, so IDK if I'm gonna be able to use their app after.

It is a camera but not a video camera that records or with the ability to remotely view from it. It is just a regular camera that takes a screenshot or photo when someone disarms the system. This gives you the ability to look at the screenshot pictures on the panel in the events section in tools. It shows who was disarming or who was trying to disarm the system These still image photos are for the system owner only and can only be viewed on the panel and no where else.
@@welchsecuritythat’s not all true. I can view those stills on the app and delete them from there as well. The tech showed me that feature at time of set up.

@@oofmaddieIt only takes a still shot of the user only while accessing the control panel turning the alarm off or on. Nothing else. You can see the recording in your ADT app. It doesn’t record otherwise. I think it only comes on when the alarm is triggered.
Hi. Are you talking about when the door is opened the panel will make a noise or will say “front door” or the name of the sensor when it’s opened? If so that is the chime feature. You can turn it on and off in settings.
Hi. I know you are able to rename the sensors yourself on your ADT Control app but not from the panel. However if you do change the names yourself on the app it won’t carry over to the panel yet so the panel would still show the old name. Only the app would show the new name. You can call up to ADT and they should be able rename them for you and have them synced across both the panel and the app. Also new updates come out all the time so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a feature that comes out so you could do it yourself without having to call into ADT
The sensors are wireless. The Command panel does need power but has a battery backup in it in case of a power outage. Typically the installer will put a little hole in the wall eye level above an outlet. Then they put the touchscreen panel on the wall, covering the hole, and drop a wire in the wall and use that outlet to plug in the transformer for power.
