Been trying to demo the GT86 and the Redster Q9.8 on the same day. Definitely, the 182 cm though.

Thanks Bob! ..... So was this a good choice for beer league or recommend something else... I like the ski a lot but it's heavy...

It worked, but it's not the best for beer league racing. The width and the tip shape don't react quite like a true race ski. A couple of our weekly racers had much more success on the Fischer RC4 The Curv GT in beer league races. Jeff and Brad both raced on that ski a handful of times this season with pretty good success. Quicker edge to edge, although the RC One 86 GT is a FAR, FAR better all-mountain ski. I would go narrower for racing for sure.

How does it compare to the Deacon 84?

I've always found the Fischer to be on the more tank-like side of the spectrum while the Deacon is a good middle ground in terms of sportiness. Both are great carvers, but the Deacon is the more energetic of the two.

Ok, enough with calling it a heavy ski, because until you put that 175 on the scale I do not believe anyone had published a valid weight for this ski anywhere. The Fischer site says 2450g which is impossible for either flat or with the binding so that was junk. Everyone just says, "it's heavy".
No, actually it isn't. A Monster 88 with a metal Pivot is heavy. I believe the 175cm 86gt is ~1900g. Be cool if you guys could comfirm that weight for the flat ski. 3000g with a system binding is not heavy.

Just had the 175 on the scale with the plate, but no binding. 2203 grams per ski.

@@SkiEssentials thanks for the prompt reply. Not trying to break you bawls here (and apologies as these skis are almost impossible to find west of the Rockies it seems), but you got ~3000g for the 86 in a 175cm with the system binding yet the 82GT is coming in at ~3140g in the 173, with binding, per your scale. Maybe they are heavy with that system binding and your scale was off by a few hundred grams?

@@FlimFlamvanHam I've got the 168's and they come in at 3,292.8grams per ski with all the trimmings on it.... Awesome ski... I call it the Superman ski cause everytime I put them on I feel like Superman flying down those hills... lol... I've been looking at the Faction Dictator 1.0 which would weigh 2600grams with bindings per ski... But I read they get thrown around a little with uneven snow and is best on smooth groomers due to the light weight but they are fast so they say...The 86gt's don't care if the snow is uneven or not.... If I'm going on smooth groomers I might as well get the curv gt's ... maybe.. I have to admit though in the beginning of the season they felt heavy... mid season they weren't really an issue for the most part... hence why I might just spend the money on the curv's ...

@@FlimFlamvanHam I have the 182 cm ski and with Fischer's system binding they weigh 3520 grams per ski. I believe the flat ski has to be around 2300-2450 grams. It is a heavy ski and the difference between the 175 cm Bob weighed in the presentation would be more than a pound per ski. About 18 ounces...My scale is very accurate. I suppose the bindings I have are quite heavy but there shouldn't be this much difference between the 175 and the 182. I was going for a 175 where I bought my skis but they only had the 182 which turned out to be outstanding. I moved the bindings three notches forward from the middle after skiing once, about 2 - 2.5 cm which is just perfect.

@@SkiEssentials The bindings you have on are quite light. I believe with the Fischer bindings that I have on mine, the overall weight of the 175 would be around 3300 grams. I have the 182 with Fischer system bindings, each ski weighs 3520 grams.
