This is so sad, I can’t help but cry. My Husband and I love Sanibel and visited often as it wasn’t much of a drive from Orlando. He always surprised me with beautiful jewelry from Congress Jewelers Sea Life Collection. I loved the shops, especially Chico’s and Naples Soap. Of course we’ll be back and will always love and support this community. God Bless you as you rebuild your community and lives.
Kirk, I am so sorry,...We got hit pretty hard in Old Naples as well... ... I have lived here for over 50 years, and we were constantly reminded about what devastation Hurricane Donna's surge brought in 1960 ... artists, Old Naples 🌴🎨
My aunt years ago lived in trailer park and had a dress shop there many years ago before her and husband passed away.prayers to all I spent years going there to visit them.sure miss those days.
Unbelievable. Best memories of my life spent over the years in Sanibel. From the IAN aerial imagery many of the buildings appear intact but the damage on the ground tells a devastating story, like the Antique store. Thank you for sharing these videos.
Prayers for Sanibel, Captiva, Ft Meyers Beach and all of those who were in the path of Ian. When you're ready, we'll return to celebrate your recovery.
Was really happy to see that Mudbugs and it's balcony survived. Thank you for the video. I don't know if you take requests, but I yet to see a ground level view video anywhere of the the Shops at Periwinkle Place, and I was wondering how those shops held up.
I never thought I would see such devastation off of periwinkle. My parents lived in the dunes for 30 years, I keep wondering if their old house survived. As of yet, I have seen no footage from there. Good luck to you, I know Sanibel will recover.
My family owned two houses out there and had a friend stay there during the Storm. If it's close to the shore the buildings took a toll idk about the rest
My gosh I was devasted when Charlie came through and tore out that beautiful tree canopy over Periwinkle heading the other way. Now it looks like Ian has been 10 times worse. I'm so heartbroken to see all this damage to such a beautiful little island. Good luck to you and all the residents of Sanibel, it may take awhile but I believe it will come back beautifully.
We stayed on Sanibel a week in December last year. Loved it, we're so sorry to see all this devastation. We stayed at Castaway Cottages and really enjoyed Sanibel.
My wife works at West Wind Inn on West Gulf . Any videos of the area from the street ? I used to live in Lake Murex on Twin Lakes lane . Across from West Wind Inn . Experienced Charley 2004 . So sad it happened again . Now in Ft Myers . All the best to returning to “ normal “
Hello and thank you for posting this video. We love Sanibel so much, this is heartbreaking. My family had a time share at 205 Periwinkle for over 40 years. I don't think you can even get there now with the little bridge by the marina down. But Sanibel will recover! I wonder about so many of the places we know and love there. Do you have any idea how the Historic Village fared? Thank you again!
Pacific islanders put all their garbage in the ocean. I lived on Okinawa for a couple of years and I was shocked to see the massive garbage barges going out to sea every day.
The ocean is IMMENSE. It won't even notice it. It'll decompose at its own pace, which geologically speaking, is a fraction of a fraction of a second. Those people lost EVERYTHING. Get your priorities in order.
@@philippians4410 Yes, yes, millions... Blah blah... Plenty of non millionaires also call Sanibel home. Stop and think about the JOBS lost to regular people. I haven't been by there yet. I've been on everything around it and anything on the coast is really impacted. We have time shares at the Sanibel Beach Club but wow are they wiped. Water swirling around the foundations have exposed the foundations and even the piers under the foundations.
I ( my house ) went thru Charlie 2004 on Sanibel . I was over in Europe . So I’ve experienced the destruction and I think ITS JUST CRAZY AND TOTALLY FOOLISH TO HAVE STAYED ON CAPTIVA . YOURE PLAIN LUCKY … GLAD YOU ARE ALIVE .

Always. I'm hoping to get video of the dunes soon. I don't think this will feel real until I'm physically on Sanibel able to see it with my own eyes

We were there 4 months ago, and we will be back at some point but who knows when that is. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Sanibel is the best, but this is tough to look at.
Buildings will be repaired/replaced, new couches will be bought, Sanibel will live to see another day!

Just think of all the garbage the storm put in the ocean. Whos gonna clean it up?
It is very polluted. Boats have to be careful not to hit things.
