I saw Ronnie with 'Dio initially at the Birmingham Odeon in '83 & 84' with again Sabbath in 91 at the NEC on the Dehumanzer tour. Not forgetting Ronnie reprising some tunes from 'The Butterfly Ball' at The Royal Albert Hall with Deep Purple in 1999 Concerto For..Anniversary. The last time was at Wembley Arena on the H&H tour.A true Pro and a unique voice that stayed intact throughout. He always had time to acknowledge the fans too.
Man, Ronnie is such an amazing person. I would have loved to meet the man, musicians with his kind of passion are a thing of the past. R.I.P Ronnie! Keep Heaven rocking!
1982 I was 15 and It took me months to save my pennies to buy my first album, but I had to have it. It was of course ...."Heaven and hell." You influenced me from an early age. RIP Ronnie
Not only one of the greatest vocalists ever, not only one of the most respected metal icons, but also a GREAT person.... Ronnie we remember you, we love you and we miss you!
Dio interviews are ALWAYS very good! Finally someone who really has to say something. I have a lot of respect for DIO, how he lives, what he believes in, what he stands for... And you can read his wisdom in his lyrics... I never can get around it; "When Dio talks... YOU LISTEN!". He is the most amazing celebrity I have ever met, because he really has something wise to say!
He isn't dissing the US as a country he is dissing the American music industry, and he's right! When was the last time the American music industry promoted a good kick ass rock band the way they promote commercial BS? I'm a proud American but the music scene here sucks now because of commercialism.
Those words Dio says about American Idol and the American commercialism are about the most true words I have ever heard about todays music business. Fuck this system, fuck those "producers" and those plastic "stars" And praise real music of real artists!! Dio, it is such a pity you left us!
Ronnie, I respect your honesty and pride, I love you my brother, and I pray that your health staysw strong so that you can bless us with your great talents for many years to come. God Bless
This man was so genuine and eloquent. The things he says in this video are so "to the bone". His "tell it like it is" comments will be dismissed by the so called Lovers of modern music / Rap Crap or just plain BS trash people pass off as music. Music's Artistry on the whole has lost one of its greatest contributions. Such a shame that CANCER has taken away another great. ( I have felt that same loss personally). The music world has lost one of (if not) the greatest voice in rock music. RIP RJD
RIP Ronnie James Dio. You have been rocking for a long time good sir, and have earned yourself a place in the halls of Valhalla. May the shrill echo of your glorious voice carry on forevermore through the ages.
yes spain we are awsome with bands ..and we got crazy in the shows .. we will miss you Ronnie :( i never had the oportunity to see your shows and now i will never do im sad for your death .. but i allways remember your music and listen your songs you are still alive in my heart
The reason music is lousy nowadays is simple: no one cares about the music anymore. Now it's just an industry trying to promote an image. It's all about the bandanas you wear, the limousines you ride in, how many blunts you smoke and girls you nail backstage (Dio talked about this in another interview). We need more heroes like this guy who stand up and say it's all about the music.
The Internet killed Music by making it free , especially Rocks bands that used to depend on Album sales for revenue . A music producer is not going to sign on for a 5 man band in 2021 simply because theirs not enough money to be made . A rock band cost a lot of money to operate . That's why it's mainly solo artists and Rap in 2021 , its a one man show . Lars Ulrich was right about the " Napster " bullshit .
always a joy to see this man in an interview. So much truth in a short period of time. The things he says about the trends in the U.S. are dead on. His music along with the genre it came from was big here in the 80s, all over TV, concerts everywhere, etc. Now, it's like a cult classic memory or something. Luckily true fans can keep it alive with cds/dvds. It's great to hear someone from this walk of life who is intelligent and well spoken. I have to go break out Holy Diver now.
each and every word that comes out of his mouth is gold..he tells the truth and he is very honest in what he says...he is a straight forward guy..very rare personality..thats what i always like about metalheads...they are just so straight and honest.they never betray what they like.i am a metalhead and i have always had to protect and stand for what i like against many ppl.but i never get weary with it coz i like what i like and it will never change..metalheads forever...
ronnie james dio is so awesome. i have backstage passes to any and all of his concerts that i want to go to. its fucking sweet. dio is a bad ass band. rock on dio!!!
Ozzy and Dio are both 2 amazing Rock Legends. It's not about who is better. It's about how these 2 guys have been keeping the faith for the last 35 years. Both these boyz Rock !
Ronnie always seemed like a nice person as well as one (if not the best) heavy metal vocalist. You will be missed for a LONG time. Rock the heavens man!!
I left a wedding early to catch Dio live at Irvine Meadows back in the late 80's... lol... I've talked to the groom once, since....but I've rocked out with Dio thousands of times...he is tone of the greatest.... the musicians he chose... his song writing ability... his stage performance...just a great time spent!!
Dio is one of my musical heros. Even tho im a bass player he inspires me to keep going with my music. He embodies what i think every metal musician should be.
Ronnie is a Central New Yorker. He came out of the middle of New York State and made a damn LEGEND of himself. He knows what he's talking about. Work hard. Aim high. Be great, don't settle. Simple, smart, perfect. Rock on RJD!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Padavona backstage last year and he has to be one of the NICEST people with whom I've engaged in dialogue. He's opinionated, articulate and IMMENSELY fucking eloquent in his speech. No wonder he's so respected among his contemporaries.
Maybe the greatest voice in "Hard & Heavy" business. The one and only master of oldscholl. I will never forget him. By the way, he was a very, very gentle and nice man. Always polite and near his fans. I'm very sad about his dead. Ronnie, in our hearts you will live FOR EVER !! R.I.P.
Great interview, he really has the American music industry nailed to the cross. All the old metal bands are in Scandinavia and Germany now because that's were the audience is that isn't distracted by pretty lights and loud noises.
Dio the amazing man who tells it as it is. i love everything that dio's produced and he is right you don't really have anything to show for what you've done unless you've worked for it, like american idol and canadian idol it's not anything really special it's just karoke until you actually make music of your own and work hard for it. but don't worry dio not everyone in north america has forgotten about you and the great music that you have produced. long live dio \m/ \m/
dio is right, lived in germany for 10 years and saw bands that would play for a place to stay. absolute raw talent that killed. even the big bands like ac/dc would leave you amazed. the rock fabrik was the absolute best!
It's very sad what he says about America, but also true for most Americans. I hope he knew there were still rockers in America who truly miss him and love his voice, style, and music.
"I wouldn't watch it on my worst day" Awesome! I clicked on this in the mindset of watching a couple of minutes of Dio talking, but the interview is interesting on top of that. Very good vid.
He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, but he grew up in Cortland, New York, which is about 40 miles north of Binghamton, and 30 miles south of Syracuse.
This guy is amazing. I love his voice, his songs, his attitude, his lifestyle. May we who believe in him always keep the gates open for good rocknroll. Fuck Idols.
I just want to say that I love Ronnie James Dio!! I'm from America, and I TOTALLY agree with his comments! He's the greatest, and comes across as SO down to earth and just a nice, regular guy! Very talented of course, too!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
I agree Dio can be abrasive with his views at times, but he makes good points... often... He isn't just a musician, hes an educated man. Lots of ppl forget that.
@UglyKidMetallica81 we all will miss him dearly, I think everyone who was a true fan feels like they just lost one of their best friends. the world was a better place while he was still kickin it, such a loss, i'm going to be rockin out to dio for the rest of my life.
DIO means "god" ronnie is what you really are,,! respect for your music, career, talent and all you say in the interview about american karaoke is damn right. love you man!
I had the pleasure of seeing him in 1974 when he came to town. ELO - Deep Purple - Elf. And a later bill with Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow . Elf was the opening act and rocked Market Square Arena to its knees! The whole bill kicked major ass. Never ever heard anyone like him at the time. I never had any idea that he would have the impact on Metal that he did at that time.
Hey Ronnie! Great interview. I hear ya on Idol, us Americans must like competition, who's #1, etc. which is a bunch of goulash. That stifles creativity. Saw you guys w/Maiden in Pgh. Pa. years ago, great show!!! Keep rockin' Good luck w/Heaven and Hell (fav song also) \m/
Albums every three years means that there was probably a good chance they made an effort on them that was decent while still touring for all the fans. Not to say people can't do both but it isn't easy - especially if you travel worldwide. Plus Ronnie himself has been playing since the sixties himself (like Stones and Zeppelin, before Zeppelin was formed even) in the Ban Elf.
every time i see him on the tube i miss him more and more
At least now his band can work for some other band and actually get paid
Great guy. So sad that he's gone.
He was real. No dark side.
Just a great vocalist and it's straight from his heart. ❤️
I hope we will meet up in heaven. 🤟
Man, Ronnie is such an amazing person. I would have loved to meet the man, musicians with his kind of passion are a thing of the past. R.I.P Ronnie! Keep Heaven rocking!

DIO ❤️The Man on The silver Mountain So Cool and Lovly Miss him ❤️🤘🤘🤘
He isn't dissing the US as a country he is dissing the American music industry, and he's right! When was the last time the American music industry promoted a good kick ass rock band the way they promote commercial BS? I'm a proud American but the music scene here sucks now because of commercialism.
So true
DIO is completely right! The states have become a place of trend!! Its quite a shame really tho! :/
I would love to meet this guy and talk to him for like 20 minutes....he seems so down to earth!
He was the nicest guy ever. I knew him personally.
A good example of how we all should think and be DIO is the best
Those words Dio says about American Idol and the American commercialism are about the most true words I have ever heard about todays music business.
Fuck this system, fuck those "producers" and those plastic "stars"

RIP Ronnie James Dio. You have been rocking for a long time good sir, and have earned yourself a place in the halls of Valhalla. May the shrill echo of your glorious voice carry on forevermore through the ages.
I always love Dio's brutally honest commentary.
my heart is broke, I saw Dio many times over the years, got to meet him a few years ago, he was so nice to us fans..
He died but his music will live for ever.RIP Ronnie James Dio
I'm just devistated.A terrible loss.A wonderful voice and person will be missed. He was one of a kind.
superb interview. Dio is a special man and a brilliant musician. i hope to see him live again (saw him in '85) and hopefully meet him in 2007.
He hates American Idol, Great man isn't he. He must have gone through hell to get where he was.. the God of Metal and all..
yes spain we are awsome with bands ..and we got crazy in the shows .. we will miss you Ronnie :( i never had the oportunity to see your shows and now i will never do im sad for your death .. but i allways remember your music and listen your songs you are still alive in my heart
there is nobody like dio. he was one of the best musicians ever. his voice gave me fucking shivers. nobody else can do that
Little did Ronnie know that Rob Halford would appear on American Idol, or one of those shows.

RIP Ronnie.
You gave us the greatest gift, your music.
You will live on in our hearts and mind forever.

thank you dio for all the great songs, shows, class you shared with the world,RIP
I totally agree with you, i cant believe at 65 years old he still has a amazing voice.
Dio is awesome, speaking his mind about what's going on in music and not caring about what people think. Everything he said was truth.
Ronnie is a Central New Yorker. He came out of the middle of New York State and made a damn LEGEND of himself. He knows what he's talking about. Work hard. Aim high. Be great, don't settle. Simple, smart, perfect. Rock on RJD!
Awesome Ronnie....telling it the way it is.....a voice of reason and you will be sorely missed.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Padavona backstage last year and he has to be one of the NICEST people with whom I've engaged in dialogue. He's opinionated, articulate and IMMENSELY fucking eloquent in his speech. No wonder he's so respected among his contemporaries.

I'm very sad about his dead.
Ronnie, in our hearts you will live FOR EVER !!
R.I.P.
Could this guy be any more awesome?
I have always loved Dio. And with so much respect he so well deserves.
large studio is gone but left his legacy here in the world with so much love to HEAVY METAL!
actually he was honored and honored.
Great interview, he really has the American music industry nailed to the cross. All the old metal bands are in Scandinavia and Germany now because that's were the audience is that isn't distracted by pretty lights and loud noises.
I met Ronnie in the '80's nice guy...great,great voice....Dio is loved here in the U.K
My sister was a big fan in the 1980s, and I'm sure she still likes Ronnie and his music. He always seemed to me like a decent guy. Rock on, Dio!
Still in shock. Cant beleave he is gone. Still here in peoples hearts.
He was really a thinker. I never knew a lot about him aside from what I learned during my youth.

"I wouldn't watch it on my worst day"
Awesome! I clicked on this in the mindset of watching a couple of minutes of Dio talking, but the interview is interesting on top of that.
Very good vid.
Dio's spots will never change. Long live Dio and Ronnie!
Dio is an incredible, hard working musician. He hit the nail on the head when describing the American audience.
Dio not just great singer, he is very good, very kind man also.
Long live Ronnie James Dio!
Brilliant interview by a legend that made a lot of sense. His comments about X factor are spot on.
What a great guy, he will be missed a lot. RIP Ronnie J. Dio
He knew eveyone's name that was there for that... Class act.
Dio will really be missed!! The American Idol dicks will be forgotten tomorrow..but Dio and his music will live on for eternity!!
This man not only sings as good as hell but also he knows his words very well. Respect to DIo ;)
He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, but he grew up in Cortland, New York, which is about 40 miles north of Binghamton, and 30 miles south of Syracuse.

What a God :) A real shame lose another great metal legend. Rest in peace Ronnie James Dio \m/ The music and memory will live on forever.
DIO means "god" ronnie is what you really are,,! respect for your music, career, talent and all you say in the interview about american karaoke is damn right.
love you man!
Sad but true! This music was always there for me and always will be till the end!
I completely agree with him, those things he said have crossed my brain recently too... well said Ronnie!
Thank you Ronnie for all the memories!!!!
Truer words were never spoken, my friend. Sad, but true.
RONNIE JAMES DIO!!!!!!
on of my favourite singers!!!
Dio is the man. There is simply no other and no one will ever come close to him.
\m/ \m/
Very honest and realistic, a real down to earth kind of person.ROCK ON RJ.
I guess you could consider it that because it does have a bit of a pop sound but most people see it to fit into the glam metal/rock genres
RIP Dio... Great interview!
The best metal voice ever and very simple guy !
Keep rockin'
Just goes to show you not all metal singers are "strung out zombies". What a beautiful speaker he is. Love you Dio since the very first day.
he's so clean to it's ridiculous he keeps his voice very well in tact
He is a good speaker , intelligent. I love him alot .
his nailing the industri and usa -down to the point !dio speaks the truth!
