- PAPILLON stars Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek didn't have the usual film set experience this go around.
The duo talk to Dave Morales about filming the new film version of PAPILLON while starving deep in the mountainous jungle.
PAPILLON, based on French thief Henri Charrière’s 1969 bestseller, stars Hunnam as Charrière and Malek as counterfeiter Louis Dega. The true story was originally filmed in 1973, which starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.
In the interview, the stars share what it was like to portray real people in the prison drama, the challenges they experienced during filming, and more.
Synopsis:
The epic story of Henri "Papillon" Charrière, a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder and condemned to life in the notorious penal colony on Devil's Island. Determined to regain his freedom, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega, who in exchange for protection, agrees to finance Papillon's escape.

I can’t believe how deep Rami’s voice is I’ve never heard of him before first the Queen trailer and how much he sounds like Freddie in it then saw an interview about him talking about the role and the depth of his voice just completely shocked me and threw me off.

I decided to watch Papillon mainly because I’m a huge Rami Malek fan! I’ll admit I was not familiar with the story or that it was based on facts. It was in incredible movie - hard to watch but I guess it was supposed to be. Both Charlie and Rami were amazing as these characters! Well done!!
This movie was marvelous and the acting phenomenal. These two guys deserve a thousand Oscars for making us cry and live with them all the struggles with them.

Gary Cooper, Henry Fonda, Clark Gable, Gregory Pecker, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood, James Dean, Burt Lancaster, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Alan Delon. Those were considered top good looking that nowadays are not produced anymore. Rami Malek looks scare me.

It is in very poor taste at best and completely racist at worst to not cast one of the many talented black actors out today to play Prince, who was a black man. There is a long history in hollywood of whitewashing public figures that are/were black.

Uh duh it was his normal weight when he was in sons. he had to loose weight for this movie and lost city of z back to back. Besides Charlie is a method actor so naturally he would starve himself to show what his character papillon and many other prisoners in solitary and in general went through

@@kaylalezabeth7175 i don't know details of the story of Papillon, but it must be for the story. Looks like Charles' character went through a rougher time than Rami's character. Papillon went through solitary confinement and who knows what else, - i think he tried to escape from prison twice - while perhaps Rami's character did not suffer as much, and got to eat more food.

An Englishman playing a Frenchman with an american accent! I can understand movies made in the 60s n 70s played by big US stars with american accents but they could at least try a little and give him a french accent. But why did they get an Englishman go out if his way to fake an American accent makes no sense.

This was an amazing movie I loved it. Yeah it was and it's a good thing because it did it's job showing the horrible conditions in the penal system back then in French Guyana. These poor prisoners went treated so badly and the conditions they were forced to live in was horrendous
They didn’t tell the truth so I hate to thumbs down and I both of these guys fan but hoe in the hell Hollywood change the truth at least the Steve & D Hoffman stay to the book
