People complain about inaccuracies and Rami's eye colour and so on should get a life. This is an entertainment piece, not a documentary. Artistic license has been taken with the full approval of the surviving members of Queen and Freddie's family. They aren't bothered that timelines were changed or modified, or that Rami didn't wear brown contact lenses. The film entertains, it informs, it celebrates and it captures the essence of Freddie and the band. It's two hours of cinema, not an exact science in which every detail, event and so on has to be absolutely accurate.
I wonder too if the brown contacts made him look less like Freddie? Anyway it didn't bother me. I don't mind the creative differences they made. I was there to celebrate Freddie's life and career. Freddie is a legend and will always be!
I was ok with artistic licence most of the time, and certainly the eye colour did not bother me. The one thing that did bother me was the massive timeline change of having him finding out about the disease and telling the band before Live Aid. They gave to that performance an entirely difference significance.
She is a superb interviewer. She actually listens to her guests! Usually they don’t listen, they’re thinking of their next question. And of course these actors are a total joy to get to know. 👏👏👏👏
Nah, Gwilyn did well but did he really have to act THAT hard? I agree he did a good job but surely, there are actors who put more effort into their roles.
No - that's the point - if you ever met Brian - or knew a lot about him, you would see that that's who he IS -- extremely low-key, calm... not "Oscar-bait" of course.. so not a huge "stretch" - but the thing is, GL got Brian exactly right... great job of filling the role - but too bad for award prospects that Dr. May is not a dramatic person :)
Ah, yes - Brian May - my first rock-star LOVE/CRUSH - when I was 14-15-16 -- if I were not such an old lady now, I would be dreaming of Gwilym (okay, so maybe I am, secretly) -- remarkable resemblance, and also acting -- I know, low-key character, but sometimes those are hard to portray.,.. just a look in the eye... a tap of the fingers.. GL got it right... :)
@trf12567 I agree they went too far with the teeth. It was also very apparent that Rami is built smaller than Freddie. Gwylim looked a lot like Brian, but doesn't have that nose of his! He's kind of like the model version of Brian. Prettier, but also less distinguishable.
I really do hope their friendship lasts a lifetime. I love when cast mates bond so much over their project that they remain close for years after everything is said and done.
Gwilym - you are very convincing as Brian - this said from a "fan" who was 15 years old in 1976 and met the band a couple of times... all of them were "gentlemen" and lovely and sweet to my best friend and I -- :)
At hotel restaurant in Kalamazoo, MI - when were were going back and forth to get hot drinks since we were standing in line for the "general admission" show at 8 p.m. and got out there at, like 8 AM to make sure we were first -- and we were not the only ones standing there, either - but it was January and very cold -- my friend went across the parking lot to hotel and came back and grabbed me and said -- you have to come with me to the hotel -- and some nice people agreed to save our place in line... then she explained why she dragged me away - the band was in the restaurant... so we sat there and tried to figure out what to say... how and when to approach - you know, don't interrupt the meal, but don't wait until they're on the way out the door.... etc... anyway -- this could be a very long story, but we finally managed to get up our courage and ask for their autographs... and Freddie immediately broke the stupid little pencil that the desk clerk had given us -- threw it over his shoulder and said "oh, it's dead - get me another one...." -- we stood there shocked, while someone else came up with a pen, and the rest of the band chatted with us, while they passed around the paper to sign... and when it got to Brian, he said "Oh, ought we to sign TWO?" -- and we were again all "duh -- yes, please!" - much more was said, and then we kind of ran away to get back in line... and when we did finally get into the show and RIGHT in front (of course) - each of them kind of gave us a nod and a smile from stage (well, except for Roger, who of course couldn't see us from his drum kit) - but it was magical....
I LOVED this interview, the lady doing the interview has a beautiful voice & accent and asks really nice questions, so thanks. Also, I could listen to Rami Malek talk ALL DAY LONG!!
I seriously don't want this video to end. Rami is such a genuine person and an angel tbh and Gwilym is absolutely lovely! I wish Joe Mazzello was in here 'cause I could listen to his voice all day long.
It took me about 20 minutes into the movie to remember that wasn't actually Brian and John on screen. I mean they all look ridiculously similar, but somebody could have told me it was really Brian May and John Deacon and I may have wholeheartedly agreed.
0:46 I just realized that Gwilym had to adjust his voice in the movie to sound like Brian's, because Gwilym's voice is a little different from Bri's. It's so mind blowing how well he could impersonate him, he sounds just like him!
72 year old grandma - I had teenagers during the 80's and heard the music, have seen the movie twice. First time I watched for differences in Rami and Freddie - fake teeth too big, Rami more buff that Freddie in arms and shoulders - by the middle of the first trip through the second just lost myself in the music and the story. What a loss when Freddie passed. Planning another trip to the theatre before it leaves the area it was so well done.
I think Freddie actually had bigger teeth plus a bit more crooked than the false ones Rami wore - and was a lot lankier in the 70’s but buffed up in the 80’s and looked bigger than Rami.
My mother liked their music while I was wearing out my LPs in the 70s ("Such nice young men."). My daughter liberated my CDs in the early 2000 years. And I think my grandson is hearing the music around the house. Rock on.
This is one of the few movies that I saw once and then immediately ran out to buy the DVD. (I saw it on streaming this year. I don't go out to the theatre any more.) I'm rarely so free with money. I'm usually cheaper! But l wanted this movie NOW.
I love that they have forged lasting friendships out of this. I can't adequately explain it, but somehow it helps keep the legacy of the band alive (like it isn't already) knowing they're all good friends now.
this is an interesting interview because the female interviewer doesn't interrupt rami and gwilym when they talk. her questions are very humble to be answered that's why I like this specific interview. many are the interviwers who shout, laugh like horses and interrupt the guests
They all say this was a "once in a lifetime" experience and that they became a mini band of brothers and very close friends during filming. Rami said they text each other almost daily - friends for life. I saw the film just after it came out, and it is a Movie for the fans...old and new, and Rami's performance is definitely Oscar worthy.
bronx hippie yeah, that’s what i mean. gwilym has this modern hair cut and look in general. i think that’s what brian would’ve looked like if he was gwil’s age at 2018
8:58 - 9:58 that’s true though! They would troll each other IG comments section (poor Ben Hardy lol) Thank you! This was such a nice interview. The game’s last part cracked me up so much 😂😂😂
Fallon Estrello oh yeah! Rami doesn’t use his. But Gwil and Joe did troll him when he posted his selfie with Ellen. But normally it was Ben who is mostly getting them troll comments 😝
Rami Malek was the absolute best casting decision. Even in interviews, I'm thinking...darn, I'm still thinking about Freddie Mercury. Malek is soo soulful. And Gwilym Lee nailed Brian May.
I think Freddie is proud for Rami and all of the cast of the movie. Rami is the type of human who Freddie enjoyed, I think. I love Rami and Freddie so much ❤❤❤
I appreciate that the interviewer gave Gwylim Lee plenty of questions on Brian May. I've been binge watching interviews and I get kind of irritated when there are multiple cast members in an interview, but 80% is about Rami/Freddie. Queen was about 4 guys who needed and loved each other. They were family. Yes, Freddie Mercury is incomparable and Rami Malek was incredible in this role. But there's so much more to the story and the actors were all amazing. Really happy to see an interviewer who understood the full width and depth of the movie... and the band itself.
I thought the scene when Freddie is told by his doctor that he has aids was SOOOO emotional, I know many cried. I also thought that Rami had the Oscar when he did that scene in the rain!
Since the film came out, I've watched all the interviews, plus the movie over & over. I have to admit that the actors who played the real members of Queen looked almost identical to the real ones!

All 4 of them were so integral to the band. Some bands have forgettable members but I can’t imagine Queen without Joe’s bass work or without John’s solos or Freddie’s electric voice or Roger’s dynamic work on the drums WHILE singing. I mean, they’re all crazy talented
I grew up with Queen as one of my secret favorites. In the '70s and'80s, I was a Rush fan and into the hair metal scene while secretly listening to Queen, ELO, Human League, and The Cars. I used to go around by myself singing "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycle Race" having no idea that those two were released together. My older brother was responsible for getting me into Queen. Forty years later I am actually proud of the extensive range of music I was fortunate to grow up around, from Gospel Blue-Grass to Hardcore Death Metal. Thank you, Freddie, for being a part of that.
Quite a phenomenon, Bohemian Rhapsody. These young fellows got it right. Superlatives can't do the performances and the film justice. As I was just out of high school when Queen got rolling in The United States seeing this movie is akin to going back in time; bittersweet.
Omg! I thought it was just me being obsessed, seen it 4 times , going again tomorrow, so happy see these post, I seriously thought there was something wrong with me 🤗🤗also become hooked into watching reaction videos of peopl, mostly young hip hop artists watching and listening to Queen for the fist time. Amira Btari Ryandini lmaooo I would too
Freddie would've absolutely loved Rami.
Susan Orchard no doubt about it, he would love all this attention because of him

Rami was Awesome. I felt like you guys were Queen. Great performance.
My obsession with this movie is bordering on unhealthy. I can't watch enough of these interviews
Oh good it's not just me then lol.
Im glad im not alone!! I said screw my house im watching bohiem
Maybe there should be an intervention group? Like AA but for Bohemian Rhapsody. 😂
@@Melissa.Garrett But without the actual intervention part. More like a watch party? I'd be down for a watch party!

It’s a true testament to this movie that I haven’t seen a single negative comment about it yet. And rightly so. It’s amazing 👏👏👏👌
i think this interviewer is the best they went to, she seems to actually know about the band
_two people who are the definition of perfection are on your screen_
Quite a phenomenon, Bohemian Rhapsody. These young fellows got it right. Superlatives can't do the performances and the film justice. As I was just out of high school when Queen got rolling in The United States seeing this movie is akin to going back in time; bittersweet.
Gwilym sounds just like Brian may amazing !
Yeah the part when he told them he has aids was emotional I was crying 😭
I never really heard of Gwilym Lee but he was so good in this movie. Rami wining a Golden Globe Award blew me away. So Glad!
Queen is the only band that is sooo versatile in their choices of music and songs.
Rami is so cute and the way he looks and talks is so adorable. I love you rami xx 😘
It’s magical how they react
Gwil as Brian fixes his wig: *AHHHHHH! BRIAN MAY IS TOUCHING MY HAIR!* Lol.
