- Summer brings a lot of heat and often times we find our selves heading up to the high country. We decided to head up to the Gunnison high country to do some overnight fly fishing. The browns and rainbows were feeding actively so much so that it was a trout every cast.

Well done
Thanks Dustin!
I love fishing for trout. Browns are a beautiful fish. Nice job AJ!👍
Thanks brother glad you enjoyed it! Man I hope to see you back putting content on your channel soon!
Video came out beautiful dude I know it can be such hard work to get some good night footage but you did amazing and the fish were such quality🔥🔥 great video dude
That Sony A7c is the only reason I can film at night where it’s watchable and fun. Thank you bud.
Fly fishing at night! Never knew that was even a thing! Filming at night is not an easy task! Nice job AJ!
Thank you sir! It definitely isn’t easy and why I had to buy a new camera that films well in the dark!
Nice!! Gonna be up there chasing some Kokes 😁 whereabouts were you, love to try this!!
Great video my friend!!!
Thank you sir!
You can see them swimming in the light right there kind of impressive
It’s amazing and super easy to get them. Fun for a few hours makes you feel like a kid then you go home and relax :) thanks for watching man
@@MountainStateAngler great video love it I don't fly fish but I bet they'd take some rapalas what do you think
@@jpfisher1952 they will! I’m a Rapala freak. I got 6 more in the mail tonight!
Beautiful looking trout. Browns are very colorful especially in the fall. Seems to be lots of fish right in front of you. How big do they get? Seems all are around the same size. Well done AJ.
Yea cookie cutter 17 to 19 inchers with a decent amount of 20 to 22. I found out those hug the shore!😊
Wow, thanks for sharing the info., more than which fly, I think it's your expertise that catches all those fish.
Thank you Kent, but the fly being that it’s a mysis shrimp that looks exactly like their food is what makes them bite! Glad you enjoy the info!
Great night out AJ.
Love the intro too
Thank you buddy! Almost ice season!
There's only a few places in Colorado where you fish misis shrimp at night. I was in this same stretch a month ago at night and it was fire! Good video man 👏
There is 3 I believe. I don’t want to name them here but two are very popular. But man I love fishing them twice a year. Thank you for the comment.
I have fly-fished at night for trout and I always thought the light would put them down and mess up your night vision. The headlamps don't spook the fish?
@@davewebb68 head lamps attract them because the mysis shrimp are white and almost glow with a light on them, its brown trout food so they naturally come right to it.
@@MountainStateAngler Ah okay that would explain it then. I have only fished with mice and large streamers at night for brown trout and we never turn on the headlamps.
Could you use any nymph, like a rainbow warrior or hares ear with a headlamp and indy fishing or does it only work because of the mysis shrimp?
@@davewebb68 some midges work yes, but make sure you always have a mysis shrimp fly, that is what gets them for me a %100 of the time! :)
@@MountainStateAngler Awesome, thanks so much for the information! I really appreciate it! I don't think we have mysis shrimp here on the East Coast, but I am going to try it with other nymphs, maybe scud patterns.
@@davewebb68 Scuds would be right!
Hey man. Thanks for video.
We're you guys using any scent?
Thanks
Only tied on the flies and casted it was that simple :)
@@MountainStateAngler wow! Thanks
Got damn I wish I had more patience to fly fish 🤦♂️ nice browns bro!
For this if you ever get out you just cast and it’s every other cast just set the hook once they bite.
Lol what do you mean getting sick of you catching them on video? That’s the whole reason we’re here watching lol
Haha I understand, I’m just criticizing my self. Viewers can only see so many fish caught over and over lol
Very nice man! Heading to Dream Stream for Big Browns on the full moon this weekend!
@@dustynbrown9782 epic! I hope you catch some absolute MONSTERS!
