Did Glorfindel leave middle-earth when Gandalf, Elrond, & Galadriel did? Was he with Elrond & Gilgalad during the battle with Sauron? Considering his previous behavior I find it hard to believe he'd stay safe in Rivendell while the rest of them were fighting Sauron when he had single-handedly fought a balrog of Morgoth and won and so earned reincarnation. I got Glorfindel and Gilgalad mixed up during an earlier episode but it seems to me that Glorfindel should hae been the one to lead the elves against Sauron becasue he had greater power than any of the others.
@victoriakidd-cromis1124 He isn't a High King. He has to follow his liege. He'd be a commander. And all the elves were leaving, so he left with Elrond. And even with his power boost, he could not stand against Sauron and win
If Glorfindel was so powerful, why didn't he rid Moria of Durin's Bane? And why didn't he clear Cirus Ungol of Shelob? And why didn't he go to Minas Tirith to help against the nazgul there? After all, Glorfindel wasn't a man either, he was an elf.
@fred20097 because 1 the elves were leaving and 2 he wasn't trying to die again... he got a power boost but he still isn't a maiar. Everyone who fought a Balrog died. And it wasn't for the elves to help Gondor to fight while ushering in the dominion of man with the battle of Minas Tirith. There was 3 elves for that. And if he went at Shelob who pathway was hidden, he might as well went at Sauron.... where he'd of lost.
@@sakemp3480 We saw the White Council deal with the ringwraiths in Dol Guldur, if they ran in a panic from just the presence of Glorfindel - I'm not so sure Sauron coulda survived that fight-not that Glorfindel would have walked away unscathed. Maybe his mission was much like the Ishtari, to help and inspire elves, dwarves and man stand against the darkness?
@dspencer1969 he scared the the Angmar King and Glorfindel had a vision where he said no man will kill the Angmar King in the books during the late 2nd or early 3rd age. And if you're saying we saw, then let's be frank, the movies aren't the books and changed things and added to it. It was Saruman who bossed up on Sauron in Dol Guldur. Gandalf stated so in the books. Glorfindel wasn't about to beat Sauron... he'd would have did better than Galadriel though.
@@sakemp3480 ashamed to admit it but no, I haven't read the books and I need to fix that. Where should I start? I vaguely remember reading LOTR in High School but that was well over 40 yrs ago.
It's funny to think that he was only revived because perhaps his death was an unfinished story that perhaps was never actually used. Good video!
Not Sir-ith. Kir-ith, I believe.
