    I know you guys probably cruise a LOT. I go on a cruise 3 times in 2 years average. My weight is at my goal, and I get even lower at a lower weight before my cruise. I go off keto for that cruise but I don't go crazy. I will sample things, I don't drink beer all year but I will have a few on a cruise as well as mixed drinks. I know I could stay keto if I wanted to, but I am on vacation! And I find it easy to get back on keto and back into ketosis.

    • @seemoreseascruises3791
      @seemoreseascruises3791  Год назад +2

      I completely understand where you are coming from there. Everybody is different and some can revert back to some carbs and enriched flour products while on the cruise but easily go back into low to medium levels of ketosis when they get home. Clear alcohols for mixed drinks, hopefully without the sugary juice mixers, should not damage your progress too much. I agree, you should stay away from the beers and excess wines. When Keto becomes a default lifestyle and not viewed as a kind of diet, the choice of "I'm on vacation" does not hold power any longer. It's a personal journey and you are 100% in charge! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and for watching! Keep up the healthily living!

    Thank you for a great video. I've been on Keto for 16 years, and on several cruises during that time - the 1st few were very challenging in terms of finding out what I could eat (getting info about buffet items was nearly impossible). Now we're booked on our 1st cruise in about 5 years (Celebrity) - from what you describe things have gotten much better in general. I'm hopeful ;) the printed card is brilliant !

      We have noticed that Celebrity will have many more clean options than other lines. There are still too many sugar options and carbs but you can find great olive oils and vinegar while also having the carvery and clean meats and cheeses. Use that card! The kitchen staff in the MDR seem to "get it" when you use that. Thanks for watching!

      I am glad that you found the video helpful! John has moved towards carnivore and we have had great luck with working with the main dining room waiter staff in order to preorder dinners the night before and explain how things should be prepared to meet his requirements of no processed seed oils (canola oil, etc.). He also does great with smoked salmon, bacon and sausage for breakfast either in the MDR or in the buffet. The carvery station in the buffet is your friend and most ships have a burger joint where he requests just the burgers prepared without the added seed oils on the grill. Check with the staff in the MDR and preorder. You may set some budget to upgrade your dinner with a steak from the specialty steakhouse if you do not find another option. Most cruise lines will have that upgrade option on the dinner menu. Making the meal cards to give the team showing what you prefer to eat does help a great deal. Good luck - just make sure you tell them what you need!

      You can do this big time! There are many fresh options if you ASK for them and look for them. You do NOT have to consume highly processed crap on a cruise. There are so many healthy products onboard and go for the real foods, not the breaded or fried in inexpensive, inflammatory seed oils that will make you feel horrible. Be your own advocate and ask for the good olive oil, not the one that is mixed with canola oil.

      You are so welcome! Just assume that everything on the buffet has seed oils. We learned that cruise lines use margarine often in place of butter (escargot on RCI) and the dressings for salads normally get their main ingredient from Canola Oil - find the olive oil and vinegar. All fried and sautéed options will have a very cheap seed oil as the base as well but if you are keto and gluten free you will not be having the flour or breading. The cheese plate and carvery section is your friend! Make sure you speak to the Maitre d' and wait staff on day one! Enjoy your upcoming cruises and keep up the good work!

    Such good information. Seed/veggie oils are the worst thing someone could put in their diet. I believe it takes around 5-6 years to leave your body in full. The food industry makes us sick so we can the go to the doctor to take their poisons (one hand feeds the other).

      I do not have any direct experience with gout but there are good choices everywhere and something for every dietary need. Depending on the vegetables, fruits, sugars and meats that someone prone to gout attacks should avoid, the Main Dining Room should easily accommodate you. Make sure that you speak with either the Maitre 'd on day 1 or your wait staff and inform them of your sensitivity. The buffet will also be a better area for you for lunch and dinner so that you can make the best selections for your specific situation. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

      Making a very clear and concise card to give the dining room on day 1 is very helpful. If you have a fixed dining time (same table and server team each night) you can preorder your meal for the next evening at the end of each meal. They will provide the allergy / sensitivity card to the chefs and they will make sure that you are taken care of. The buffet is a bit more challenging however, you know what you can tolerate and eat. Make sure if you are eating anything fried, stay away from the canola or vegetable oils since they are VERY inflammatory. I would suggest that 99% of fried items will be fried using those oils. You might want to bring a small container of pure monk fruit sweetener (not mixed with erythritol) if you require something sweet. You can add that to coffee and tea. Good luck and let me know if I can assist in booking that cruise. You can email me for planning and booking at contact@seemoresea.com. Thanks for watching!

    Keto is not "healthy". Nor is any diet fad. Ultimately, eating higher quality food, cleaned and prepared properly, is a good thing healthwise, but the ONLY diet that ever truly works in terms of managing weight is "calories in vs calories out". If you're looking to gain weight, be in a calorie surplus. If you're looking to lose weight, be in a calorie deficit. I've yet to meet the qualified dietician that approves of keto. And for good reason. I've witnessed some of the worst dietary mistakes from keto followers, mistakenly eating loads of fats and fatty foods. I have treated keto followers for coronary artery disease. Knowledge of metabolism and physiology is a must in understanding why this fad diet, and it is just that... A fad, is not a wise option. For the record, I am a medical professional with dual degrees in cardiopulmonary health and in bio physics. I am not a dietician however. But I know a lot of them! That said, you've offered good travel advice in the past. So kudos there. We can disagree, but let's disagree amicably. Ultimately, work with your own doctor and meet with a dietician to construct a healthy, well balanced diet that is maintainable long term... and exercise for crying out loud. Your heart will thank you.

      @seemoreseascruises3791  Год назад

      You make some very good points and all well taken. The biggest problem with Keto (for many it is not a fad but a way of life) is that so many food suppliers have hopped into the movement so there is complete and total JUNK out there that consumers are buying. They are not reading labels and consuming highly processed crap that nobody should be eating. There are also many people saying that they are keto when they are eating dirty which is using highly manufactured, inflammatory junk fats and oils to meet their macros. This is highly unhealthy and is not sustainable. We eat only single ingredient foods whenever possible and read EVERY label. This includes fats, meats, vegetables and sweeteners. There are hundreds of sugar free options out there that are full of sugar (added sodium) and chemicals but just under another name for sugar. Companies list these as Keto and they could not be further from the truth. Single ingredient, non-processed real foods including fats is healthy and sustainable. Our labs have never been better and our doctor is 100% onboard. Yes, we can disagree amicably and I completely respect everything you pointed out. This country eats way too much processed carb junk which is the root cause of most of the medical problems due to inflammation and sugar. Thank you for watching my videos and as you have noticed, am sticking to cruise advise. I appreciate your comment and thank you for watching.

      @@seemoreseascruises3791 thank you for reading, listening and disagreeing amicably. I love a good respectful debate. On a side note, let me also thank you for introducing your husband. I am the proud father of 3, and have an openly gay daughter. Our family attended an LGBTQ pride event in blueback square west htfd recently. My wife is a devout catholic who is slowly....learning.....that the world doesn't need hers or her church's permission to love and live freely. She is coming around to understand that fact. So thank you for also being courageous and sharing your own marriage. Best of wishes to you and your damned good looking husband. What a beard.....I wish I could grow it that full.

      @@pullcarsmelly8051 Being open about who you are is a journey. I unfortunately have not always been in that mental space but so grateful that we both made it there. I too, come from a deeply catholic family but luckily I was supported even in the early days. I am so happy to hear that your daughter has support and allowed to follow her own true path. My mother was my "best man" at our wedding and that will always be special. Give your wife time and understanding and she hopefully will get there. There is a courage that comes with being your true self but it is so overshadowed by the freedom from self deprecation. BTW, I wish I could grow my beard full like that too - you should see how full it is now. You should watch some of our latest videos such as the Celebrity Equinox review. Great to chat with you and THANK YOU for sharing!

      You are so WRONG ! Watch one of Medical Doctor Ken Berry’s videos. I have never been a fan of any fad diets but after being diagnosed with pre NAFLD You should see how my blood work actually improved after going on the ketogenic diet not to mention the loss of 28 lbs.

    One ought to be THIN in order to make a video of this subject. Neither of you are on keto, obviously.
