    The PK XL is such a brilliant fun scoot to ride. Light as a feather and even the smaller pk75 XL pushes out nearly 50mph on GPS. They are good on the petrol versus miles per gallon too, 140mpg on the 75 . They look cool too. Once the PK was hated but now becoming a little gem. Buy them whilst you can as the values are pushing up.

    Always loved the cleaner lines of the XL/XLS so my vote goes to Scott's more stock-ish build. Though I agree with @65FUTBOL that PK's should always have obnoxious chunky black mirrors because it's the 80's!

    This is so strange to me, seeing PKs as some kind of unicorn models... This is all we had here in Austria in the 80s. Under the age of 18, there was a 50cc ceiling. The Germans had PX80s, and we were jealous as hell. 😬 Got a PK50 in 1986.
    (My parents forced me to give up my 100cc 50 Special.) Almost all Vespas were heavily modified then. But Police were no idiots and you constantly had to revert to 50cc again when they caught you. I put a 60cc Polini in my PK, because with that the Police could not tell from the sound. Even a 75cc you could easily tell by ear.
    Have to admit, electronic ignition was a major step from the Special. Most of the time that crook would not even start. Hated the modern look of the PK then, but now it also looks vintage to me.
    Btw, LML brought ist back auto only in 2016 as LML Star Lite before they went under.

    Great video! I think both are PKXL's. Whats strange is that the locks for the cowls on Fabio's PK is the same as PKS but the front legshield and horncover is like a PKXL The PKS did not have a horn in the glovebox. Being the first of this type of smallframes, the PKS horn was under a horncover with slots like a PX. The seat on a PKS is different too and looks like PX seat. The PKS has floor rails and the PKXL had floormats. The headset speedo was different also on a PKS and similar to a PX but not the same. BTW, the speedo on the ETS125 was just like a PX speedo and interchangeable. The glovebox are different on a PKS with a button on top to release the latch. The turn signals are different on the PKS, too.

      Thanks for the details! I'm sure these have gone through a lot of mods throughout the years. Probably have to reference the vin to get the exact model and year...

    • @BeemerTwelve
      @BeemerTwelve 3 года назад

      Exactly, main differences from PKs to PKXL were the seat (which in the case of the XL had rigid plastic frame on the outside) turn signals, (rear ones went a little over the edge of the frame) the horn (no longer allocated in the nose) the speedo (bigger) and I believe the side covers had levers under the seat instead of a lock right above them.

    • @fabs1565
      @fabs1565 3 года назад

      Thats a pretty good eye. The frame is actually off an ETS, with 1st gen PK125 turn signals. The front end and handle bars are essentially px, but with the stock ETS fork tube

    Pk’s & HP’s don’t get a lot of love here in Italy. You can find them easily under €1k. I have a PK v5n1t I bought for €500 last year.

      @@christga100, here in Germany for example the most wanted model, if you are an enthusiast, is the Px :
      - The access to the engine is definitely better, the engine is a little easier to reach,
      - It has "separate lubrication"* ...
      - ... and definitely looks better ...
      *I've just learned, you call it "autolub" ...
      ... hier in Deutschland ist zum Beispiel das meistgesuchte Modell, wenn Sie ein Enthusiast sind, die Px :
      - Der Zugang zum Motor ist definitiv besser, der Motor ist etwas besser zu erreichen,
      - Sie hat Getrenntschmierung ...
      - ... und sieht definitiv besser aus ...

      @@paulpaulsen7309 autolube is a thing that every "vespisti" has to take out for the health of the motor... Actually in every autolube 2T I had I deleted it and I saved a lllllooooot of money there... And I'm not talking about vespa only but mostly Japanese 2T I had here and there in my long 2T adventure life. Also the 2T oil that we most 2T heads we use for our high performance bikes isn't right for the vespa's, there MUST be an "unclean" burning of mixture so the oily smoke stays at cylinder walls and inside of crankshaft bearings, just a piston head cleaning here and there and that's it. Ahhhh... A looooot of sparkplug also and a good choice of words when we speak to the vespa trying to tell "her" about how beautiful is gonna be the days journey or day commuting around. She has a character, nice words and flowers help a lot.
