What people don’t even realize is when it comes to writing, an artist can write all but 2 lines of a song by themselves and those two lines have to be credited to the person that wrote them. There’s an entire industry of writers selling songs to current artists. It doesn’t mean the artist doesn’t also write their own music. Future wrote drunk in love for Beyonce. Historically, rappers are supposed to take pride in never having someone write for them. The skill, the lyricism is what matters to a real rapper. Some folks are just after sales, they’re not about the culture, history, or artistry that goes into it. With guys like Drake, Kanye, and Dre… you see them as something else, not rappers. Two are super producers and Drake is a weird hybrid artist. IMO, he’s the new pop, he’s Timberlake.

There’s not a god darn thing wrong with writing your own, for others and singing songs written for you. Talent comes in different forms. A ghost writer literally can hear the artist in mind when they write and that’s innate, same goes for artist who writes for others and themselves. People make such huge deal about this and not sure why!
