A uniquely enchanting performance by the incomparable and inimitable Sydnie Christmas, mistress of musical magic.
This still gives me chills! She just amazes me……. 🤗❤️🎶
Sydnie was captivating by sheer personality (I would have given her a golden buzzer for personality), and mesmerizing as soon as she sang the first few notes, and that feeling kept building throughout song as her version, tempo, and volume built, but the real surprise was the last verse, which changed the song from childhood optimism to her own pessimism that tomorrow had passed her by. My Way wasn't pessimistic but defiant, and it just built on the success of Tomorrow with the revelation of her true range and power. Rainbow was her triumphant finale, again surprising us all with the range and control, with her smiles throughout the piece leaving all the negativity of Tomorrow far below. You will have bluebirds around you forever.
Yes, Sydnie is among the best ever: along with Celine, Whitney, Dame Shirley Bassey, and Liza Minnelli, Sydnie Christmas is now included.
In "My Way" she showed her power & subtlety, to win the semi-final and become a finalist. Here she showed her all round quality: she makes her songs into what some have called English art, a simple tune with emotion and variety woven in to make it incredible. You want to play it over and over!
Did you two notice her first single being released last week? A song very dear to her heart, Starlight Express, which Andrew Lloyd Webber invited her to release her own version of just the other day: so she thanked him, pinching herself, and here it is.
Sydnie's voice is so much more powerful and impressive than Celine Dion's-----more like Whitney Houston's or Shirley Bassey's.

This is the song that she sang in the final ❤
If you really want to here this original style of this version than check out Eva Cassidy's version. This was somewhat copied from it and Evas version is soul searching with her guitar playing with it. And better. The video version is best. Of course the original with Judy Garland is good. But Evas is sooo much better.
