Hey...This music bring me wings to touch in The grat boet of Onidin-Line.... Wowwwwww. As a chaild I have been dreaming to sail with a big ship in far oceans... If You close Your eyes you found yourself in another world... Thanks a lot for Khachaturian - one of the best composer in world. alrady touch the blue water and waves ..................................................................................
From Wikipedia: The cinematic quality of his music for Spartacus was clearly seen when the "Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia" was used as the theme for a popular BBC drama series, The Onedin Line, during the 1970s.
Windouble2, this is indeed from the ballet "Spartacus" composed by the Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian in the 1930s. I don't know what this "Onedin Line" is as I never watch TV, but this piece which comes from the love scene between the hero of the ballet Spartacus and his wife Phrygia has been used numerous times (often without the permission of the composer himeself when he was still alive) in movies, commercials, and as you just mentioned, even as the main theme of a TV series.
I didn't think anyone else remembered The Onedin Line! It took me a long time to track down the source music. I used to think the music was written to represent an old ship in full sail.
I'm in this orchestra!!!! I'm the kid named anders olsen in violin 1
The most beautiful adagio composed ever
