Halting passengers in flight for 13 hours is a crime

These news channels will never talk about the inconvenience from the passenger's perspective.
These journalists are corporate company's agents.
They only talk from company perspective.

      Don't be dumb.
Read a comment and then reply.
Due to a flight delay my cousin couldn't attend an exam which was make or break.
Compensation has to be paid by companies.
Even if compensation is paid certain exams or interviews will not be postponed.
Instructions should be given to postpone these important exam or interview.
Certain events in life will not accept excuses like flight delays.
Add the rising tensions during the delay.
      It creates a panic situation.
      Educate yourself to understand this.
Japan too has fog and flights don't get delayed frequently.
      Same with Russia.
I was traveling to Tasmania, Australia during winters and not a single flight got delayed at 2 degrees.
Aviation companies should stop giving excuses in the name of fog and must be equipped to face it.
A lot of events depend on an important journey.

Why can't all news channels be like first post! They sound so sorted and composed telling you things as they are.

In all their social media post they have spoken about how they will not let it happen again in the future. No comments about refund. If we cancel tickets few hours before the flight. There will be no refund or very small amount of refund.

To be fair, it’s weather related… however keeping passengers on tarmac is not ok! People can die this way - and a human life is a human life!!! Keeping passengers on the tarmac for 13 hours is VIOLENCE

If it's cancelled then did airlines provide the same LOWER price to book the ticket, which previously person does???
Because on the same day or near date airlines increased their charges to much high

Answer is : No, with cut throat margins our airlines are operating, they cant afford to pay compensation for delays from their pocket, unless some insurance gaint jumps into to address this risk.

Every passenger on the delayed indigo flight should be paid punitive damages of atleast INR 10Lakhs per passenger by the airline. (10 Lakhs per passenger is an arbitary high number that i am putting out...the exact high number should be determined by the SC taking suomoto cognizance of this incident).
When the airline schedules a flight time as 7.30 am (or whatever time) then that is a written contract. Delaying the take off by 10 hours is a serious breach of that contract & very substantial prohibitively high punitive damages are due to each passenger for whatever possible damages that passenger has suffered due to not reaching the destination at the promised time.
The passenger who slapped the first officer & all other passengers of that flight should file a case against the airline asking for overall cumulative punitive damages in several crores of rupees....making the DGCA a party of the accused too.
If the fog was already forecasted then the airline had no business accepting bookings for a 7.30 am take off flight... & the DGCA is equally at fault for having let the airline announce the flight & board the passengers when it was clear that it wud not be able to take off. The airline had malafide intentions in allowing the plane to board when they clearly knew that the flight could not take off.

People should collectively abandon taking flights, make a mass protest not to take flights at all. Then the aviation industry will come back to its feet.

Still not enough, the flights are just busy filling their planes and they expect us to understand the problems of their staff but not see the problem of families or emergencies… the Dgca statement does not help .. if canceled who owns rebooking and the extra cost 😞 plus what abt the inconvenience to families with children and elderly .. 😞, nothing at all .. also as a frequent traveller I have noticed the way hostess are least bothered abt passengers these days specially .. service is going bad ..

While all focus is on delayed flights what about the plight of rail passengers who have been suffering from delayed trains for more than a decade due to fog. The Air traffic regulator has just woken up when this has been happening for years.

It’s not rocket science! For the Indian civil aviation, and DGCA to find solutions, why not research to see what is done in the USA , or Europe.with FAA regulations. Or the Indians can contact them to see what they do in these circumstances.and what the rules and laws say for delays. And can always get ideas from them.
