Great review. I appreciate the detail. I know enough now to know that this kit will not be a fit for the mentalism that I personally perform. Sometimes I watch MagicOrthodoxy reviews and find out that I need to purchase an item that I either didn’t previously know about, or that I previously was going to pass up; but just as often, a review will save me money. This is one of the times it saved me money. Thanks, David. I consistently appreciate your unbiased and thorough reviews!

I got my set for $89 … be a backer on KS. 9 1/2 hours of tutorials from Peter Turner!
There’s a lot of theory and more tricks without gimmicks if you watch them all.
PT is a legend that everyone can learn from.
Video 4 and 5 have some gems.
    Thanks for reviewing David 👍👍

Vielen Dank für die Review. Ich war am überlegen mir dieses Kit als Einstieg in die Mental Magie zu kaufen. Nun hole ich mir das erste Kit, da dieses ja für Fortgeschrittene ist. Vielen lieben Dank 🥰

Really nice review Sir, I purchased this, those video tutorials and jam sessions are real gem. The knowledge that they have shared is so valuable❤💯
I also liked that girl, she was cute and kept staring at me 🤪😅

Thanks for the nice review! I have this kit, as well as the first one and 13 Steps to Metalism. From my point of view, the level of tutorial videos in HTRM 1 was better (maybe it's my subjective opinion), as well as the number of useful props and consumables was more (what you mentioned in your review). Also, I didn't like that many times Peter showed something really cool and then didn't teach it, but gave a link to the author/course/set where you can buy it. And from my point of view, the billet switches are much better shown in 13 Steps to Mentalism. But, in general, I liked the kit and learned a lot of interesting and useful things.

One wonky thing I noticed about the kit is that the mailing envelopes provided DON'T WORK for the effect, the dimensions are wrong to achieve the effect. Before I tried to set up the effect I was looking for more envelopes the same size provided, and they are a very odd size. Luckily I realized before buying them, you need the more common size envelope. Great kit though, I love it just as much as the first one.

    Thanks David.
I gir it right away because I really liked #1. I agree with you that I was somewhat disappointed thinking it was in the same style as 1 BUT his teaching is very good. A bit out if my ability at this time but maybe later. I'll save it for later. It's interesting to get an insight bintp Peter's head. 😂

I have a few of Peter's books, so I'm always surprised there are props and gimmicks at all. 😅 His (ab)use of language is the biggest thing you can ever learn from him.

Mmm great review as always David but I’m starting to think maybe they made rise then built the kit around it? Ever review I’ve seen so far is pretty much the same………..now is it worth the cost maybe but it you already have some on the things then it could be a wait? Happy New Year mate!

The other day I mentioned I had grabbed magic 101 and was thinking about The Insane Magic kit, and I did end up picking it up, and while on the site ended up also grabbing both read minds kits and a few other kits and items... Figured screw it, why not... Picked up way more than one can chew right out of the gate, but at least I have plenty to keep me busy for a while

I did buy the first kit and I absolutely love it and I still refer to the instructions to this day so I’m hoping that I’ll enjoy this one. I was considering buying 13 STEPS TO MENTALISM I think it’s called but decided to stay away from it. I really like Peter Turner’s style of teaching.

I figured the reason you had to DIY so much of the kit was that it was part of the education element. When you build the prop, you learn intimately how it works, and can build your own in the future. A con for me though, is that even though the videos are in a directory called DOWNLOADS, you cannot download them. My laptop only has 2 cores, and so embedded videos tend to stutter, and downloading would have avoided that. My favourite effect is the playing card amnesia. It's brilliant, and nearly everyone into card magic already has several gimmicks for it. I'm definitely using it. And I love how impossible the whole Bulldog clip routine feels. Also Rise. The device is partly DIY because it is immediately usable in other props. I agree Rise alone is worth the price of the whole kit. w00t!

If I'm buying a magic set for $150 I expect the gimmicks to come built. Personally not a fan of arts and crafts.

Excellent review David. Agree 100% re Spider Pen but as you say Peter Turner has said he thought its inclusion was ridiculous. Also, agree too much DIY.

  • @photopro28
    @photopro28 Год назад +1

Thanks for the great review. This is definitely not for me and I would say not for most amateur magicians. Even pro level it seems like a lot of work figuring out how to do the Rise trick. I'm sure Peter Turner can take some risks, he's been doing it for over 20 years. Also, you have to build your own props which is crazy. Next on my 'to get' list are Envelope 2.0 and the Nemesis deck.

Let's be honest. The kit is amazing but... The arts and crafts of the "2 Out Envelope" and "The Curzon Envelope" sucks. Don't get me wrong. Both tricks are completely good and beautiful. It's just the arts and crafts that bothers me. "The Spider Pen" video explanation is good but the pen itself sucks. The "YES NO" is good but too much handling. I didn't like it that much to be honest but hey! Maybe you'll like it! Overall it's pretty worth it! David forgot to mention that each video comes with English, French, Deutsch, and Spanish subtitles ;)
