- If you follow me on Instagram (@MidCenturyWasted) then you saw preview pictures that I posted from this estate sale. It looked absolutely amazing, more like an antique shop than someone's home. The excitement I had was quickly squashed by a number of sh*tshow circumstances, like bad weather, lack of preparation on my part like bringing an umbrella or being able to get there super early, too many people, and all the "good stuff" that I was looking for being either gone or pricey.
BUT.... it was still one of the most epic collections of things in one home I've ever seen and this shop along is definitely worth a watch! So pop some Dramamine and let's get dizzy together!
Xoxo
Jamie

That is a lot of dishes and glassware for one household!
That was no estate sale! They had prices more inflated than snooty antique shops...you all know the kind!
They are really proud of their stuff!
😂😂😂
thanks for taking me with you. when you were looking at the books I seen a Cherry Ames book - when I was young I read every one of the Cherry Ames books I could get my hands on which meant walking to the local library to get them. I'm now 60 years old and that is the first one of her books I can remember seeing since that time when I was young. Awe, the memories.
Oh how sweet! I have never heard of Cherry Ames but I will be on the lookout for them now 😍
They labeled everything!!! What a process!
This video made me dizzy and sick sorry I had to go, prices were crazy, ones that I saw!!
I put a Dramamine warning in the description! 🤣
I agree, The prices! Wow!
Holy glassware! Massive collections with ridonkulous prices!! I will never understand the idea of going to all that work to perfectly set up that amount of stuff only to price it so high that people won't give it a second look... even half price day would be too much (guessing that's partly why u didn't go back)... I was soooo hoping u would've gotten the Franciscan Starburst! 😔
Those are just crazy, crazy high prices!! No wonder there is so much left in the afternoon. Hopefully they will have reduced days. Wonderful items and quite the collections, but wildly expensive!
It was a 4 day sale and they went down to 50% off on the final day... but still! I ended up not going back because after thinking about it I still didn’t want to pay even half those prices.
Thoughts watching this video......
1. VERY high prices.
2. Some really lovely items.
3. How much stuff did these people have? Semi-hoarders?
4. I immediately want to continue decluttering my own home. Not ridiculous or totally minimalist or anything! Just take the time to move some unused/unwanted stuff on to the Op Shop.
***** New subscriber here. Looking forward to watching more.
Yeah that question #3 is one I kept thinking myself while I was there! It was such a huge amount, especially the stuff in the backyard. I don’t know where they kept it other than maybe the garage. It made me want to clean out my house and also take a shower 😅 Thanks for subscribing, I appreciate it very much!
The prices are better at Goodwill! I couldn’t believe the prices on the tins!! Lots of nice things , waaay too pricey!!
They individually priced the uranium coffee/tea cups?! Individually priced the plates. It’s actually so annoying. I would’ve felt I wasted my time going there. Like why wouldn’t you sell as a set. That’s ridiculous. These are high end retail prices. This isn’t an antique store.
I don't know California well but I do know market value and those folks have some pricey prices.
R I D I C U L O U S PRICES !!!-
Was this all One person's stuff? Were they a dealer? Was all that in the house at one point? I thought my eBay stuff was driving me crazy i can't imagine being surrounded by all that! Thanks for taking us along!!
I had all those same questions! 🤷🏻♀️
California people need to come to Arkansas and buy our old stuff! Then we can put out some more!
Gladly!
I wonder if that was a consignment company that did that estate sale that's just way too much stuff for one person to own they probably threw in some items I'm sure
Wow those prices were so high! But amazing things! I like the tins you picked out!
That's WHY I do NOT do ESTATE SALES any more. The prices are HIGH...THEN THEY CHARGE TAXES!!! They CLAIM they pay taxes in order to charge it on your total price. Then, most of the items got CHIPS, BREAKS, CRACKS, CRAZING, ETC. The prices should be lower. Then, when the 2nd & 3rd day comes around the prices SUPPOSE to reduce to 75% & 50% off.
All the estate sales have been to either don’t charge sales tax at all to anyone or don’t charge it to you if you have a resellers license. And yes, almost all of them are discounted 25 or 30% off the second day and 50% the final day.
@@MidCenturyWasted You're right. My mistake. Here in Texas...the 1st day is Full price (Friday), 2nd day is 25% off (Saturday) then 3rd day/last day is 50% off (Sunday)......there were some Estate sales that were 1st is Full price, 2nd is 50% then 3rd is 75%. But here in Texas they do charge state tax.
Is this one of those estate sales where whatever doesn't sell the estate people get to keep? Looks like it. Then they take it to their own booths
I didn’t know that was a thing. Could be the case here. I also heard that the guy’s sister was there and involved with the sale, so maybe she just wasn’t that motivated to sell it all. Who knows 🤔
Wow those prices are crazy!
I agree about the covered candy dish. Those so didn't match
Oh good, I really didn’t think it looked right!
There were so many amazing items there! Do you find most of your estate sales on Grasons? I also live in Southern California (Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga) and am a personal collector so I'm always on the lookout for myself. Also thank you for turning me on to the amazing supportive Reseller community here on RUclips. It's been amazing getting to know everyone.
Yes I get lots of stuff from Grasons! They tend to be very reasonably priced and I love how they have done Facebook live online sales during shutdown. And I’m so thankful for this amazing community, too! Everyone is so wonderful 🥰
@@MidCenturyWasted I'm trying to now track down more in person sales. I am so close to Palm Springs that I may head out to the Vintage Market this weekend. I also really enjoy watching your videos for inspiration! 🥰
@@christinagonsowski ohhh the vintage market is so good! They’re doing a bonus one on the 11th this month for modernism week!
@@MidCenturyWasted OOOHH that's right!! Plus I always love hitting up Tonga Hut when I'm there. I'm obsessed with their wonton chips and chili dipping sauce. Haha
Outrages prices!!!!
5:28 I would have snatched that piece up so fast 😂😂
That same exact piece os at the antiques mall where i live for $79. Its a nice Fenton piece
Holy smokes....the prices. Even if they had half off they were crazy. No wonder it was still packed. Now. Is the time to go thrifting in the area and find where they sent it all after it did not sell. Those were high retail prices. Cool stuff though, so thanks for taking us with you. Oh and rain , that was just a lite misting here in Oregon. Lol
Oh give me a break, there were some actual raindrops!! 🤣🤣🤣 I love showing how absolutely wussy we are in southern CA about weather lolol
@@MidCenturyWasted We love to give our southern neighbors a bad time about rain. We show no mercy when it comes to them driving in the wet stuff. :-P
@@kimmaddalena5493 I’ve been in enough “real” weather in the Midwest to know that we deserve all the ribbing we get down here 🤣
I lived in Oregon for 3 yrs. I laugh to this day when people complain about the rain where I live in CA. I'm like, it rained so much I had an afro from the humidity and I'm white.🤣🤣😳😳🤣🤣
Thank you for the video it is fun to come along and see soooo much stuff! I'm puzzled however, did one family have all this? If they did wow that's almost scary.
There were many items waaaaay overprice. However, there were a few things that I would have got because they were actually marked at half of their value. It is all in what you know and what your resources are. Thank you for sharing, that was a great estate sale to see, the camera could be less shakey though, I know it is a challenge, you will get better at it.
I’ve done almost 100 videos, I probably won’t stop being shaky without a camera crew 😂 It’s the worst when I’m holding a big box filled with stuff and trying to film at the same time! I understand why some people like using GoPros strapped to their heads 🤣
@@MidCenturyWasted Oh I know what you mean, I haven't done much in the way of filming yet because of this very issue. ?There is a newer Go-pro with enhanced stability that is a game-changer I plan to get. If you can make that happen it would be awesome. Really enjoyed this video, so much treasure, too bad they knew what they had, but still fun.
I’m supposed to go to an estate sale with lots of vintage colorful glass tomorrow. Hope this is NOT an omen!!! 😳😳😳
Happy to report it was not. Scooped up 5 bags of goodies to keep and sell for next to nothing. 💜💚💙
Yay!!
They must have been collectors. Can’t believe that one household could have that much stuff.
Hi there I commented one other time on your Veterans Flea Market ( calendar the same as this year ) any hoot this estate sale ( down the street from my house ) , I also went to after your video and there was A LOT gone that you had in your video, I'm pretty sure they where able to get rid of almost all of it despite their high prices and not so nice register lady . Have a great day !!!
Cool stuff, but no wonder a lot of it was still there, Whopper prices!!!
I am in N. CA, and never see those kind of prices at a retail establishment, let alone an estate sale. Question for you, however. Are masks enforced at estate and yard salesmen your neck of the woods or do people just wear them because they think they have to?
At estate sales, yes, every one I’ve been to are only allowing people to go inside if they have masks on. Yard sales are different since they’re just run by individual home owners, but for the most part it seems like people keep masks on just out of a courtesy for others if nothing else. In the last couple weeks I have noticed some older folks without masks at yard sales and I’m thinking it’s because a lot of people have been vaccinated now, they might feel safe without a mask. But that’s just me guessing.
100 people in line in NORCAL is the county food bank
why burn gas to wait in line ?
New sub! Im gonna start learning glass and stop making excuses lol! Nice content :)
Thank you for subscribing! I’m still learning, too, there’s a big world of glass out there! 🤩
아름다운 그릇들이 많이 즐거웠어요
What did the E mean after the number OnTheGo price stickers?
I’m not sure what part you’re talking about?
You brave soul! ❤️
Estates sells in my area have become like this. The problem is the companies that have monopolize them
Neat sale-horrible prices-good luck finding normal pricing there!
I don't think they had sold anything by the time you got your turn. I didn't see any empty spaces. I do think there was more than one entities collections going here also. I saw at least two distinct price tag types intermingled.
There were preview photos posted online before the sale so believe it or not lots of things were sold. You wouldn’t believe how packed it was before I got there 😂 There was about twice the Jadeite, a bunch of mid century nesting bowls, 10x the range shakers, dozens of boxes of Shiny Brite ornaments... I think they just had a few different people pricing things that’s why lots of different tags. They weren’t writing down which items sold or distinguishing between them at checkout.
Crazy expensive prices!
Even if you had arrived early, it was all still overpriced.
Yeah I hope so, I worry that the really good things that I went for that were already purchased may have been reasonably priced... but I guess that’s unlikely. People must have just been willing to pay an arm and a leg.
Those prices are kind of ridiculous! 🤨
The price is ridiculous.
Is it because I've been watching too many Goodwill shopping videos that the prices seem so spendy are all estate sales so expensive
What they are selling with overprices ? Nothing they aren’t crazy’s or what? Going to yard sales or thrifty stores goodness ! Good luck 👍 next time on your hunting treasures ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍
Maybe you should have asked what the “real” prices were.
Or where they’d be donating everything that didn’t sell 😂
All about money....
Do I think the prices are overkill or is that normal for Cali?? I would pay that for my own collection. SMH...
I think they are overkill AND that’s pretty normal for CA hahaha... For some reason I see this kind of thing a lot here, either people there are lots of wealthy people in the area or the estate sale companies aren’t keeping up on the current price trends. I know carnival and uranium glass had much higher values 20-30 years ago and it felt like their prices were stuck back then.
Awesome items, what eye candy!
If the prices were normal you wouldn't have time to film!
That is the silver lining, isn’t it! I wouldn’t have time to film and most of it probably wouldn’t be there anymore by the time I got there!
Gorgeous stuff, but at those prices, might as well be in an antique booth which totally defeats the purpose of the sale!
It makes me think they did have an antique booth or store and we’re just trying to sell it all at once. I wonder how much was left at the end!
Great stuff priced way too high.
Holy moley are these prices a California thing?
This sale had outrageous prices even for California!
Unfortunately, not unusual for SoCal....😞
Nope, not unusual at all, but definitely unreasonable 🤣🤣
0:7:05 Individual PLASTIC bowls for $17 apiece.
What a bust!
I'll bet you that you could have went there one month after the sale and 90% of the items will still be there with those prices
I wouldn’t doubt it! I wonder what they ended up doing with everything.
Title is really misleading, disappointing!
The title is exactly what was at the estate sale? How is that misleading?
This recording is making me dizzy. Not subscribing!
