  • This short film called "Palette Dansante" was first shown at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA in Frankfurt (aka Frankfurt Auto Show)) in 1956. The film was produced in 1956 by the oldest ad agency in Germany, William Wilkens, and directed by Kurt Wolfes from Hamburg. The primary purpose of this film was to introduce six new colors for the Volkswagen Beetle that year model. After the IAA, this film was given to dealerships as a "Händlerfilm" (showroom promotion) to show to customers in movie theaters.
The animated scenes were made using small VW models from Wiking. The film didn't have a spoken script, and the same dancer appeared in all scenes. The license plates show "BH" for "Britischen Besatzungszone Hamburg" (British occupation zone), which was replaced in 1956 by the German license plate.
