  • A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and MV-22B Ospreys with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd MAW, conduct flight deck qualifications aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) underway in the Pacific Ocean, July 14, 2024. Joint training between 3rd MAW squadrons and the Tripoli in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations enabled the amphibious assault ship to conduct Mobility Air Qualifications and 3rd MAW squadrons to maintain currency required for amphibious operations.

    The yellow shirt (0:04) is the Aircraft Handling Officer who is responsible for positioning and moving the aircraft on the flight deck. The white shirt (0:44) is an Air Transfer Officer or Safety Observer. The purple shirt (1:11) is an Aviation Fuel Handler. The blue shirt (2:12) is a Trainee Plane Handler (entry level).
