My love to you my friend! I had a soft shunning when I was young and returned myself for my family! Got out of an abusive marriage and it's been almost 12 years without my family, but I'm happy to say that I'm ok it still pains me to have this separation of my family sometimes but, I wouldn't change my life I have now for nothing. As an ex JW, who was born into the religion, and pressure into baptism by 14 and subsequently being disfellowshipped bye the age of 15, your channel and the truth hurts has been immensely therapeutic for me. Please continue your work, I hope you realize how many people are helping
Great interview Lloyd and Billy Lloyd he said he started studying at the age of 13 with his family. I am the elder that studied with him and his family and I knew right from the beginning that Billy at the age of 13 was a very good critical thinker we’ve touched based in the past month or so we’ve both are out and him and I are out for the exact same reasons. It’s simple to all JW’s if you do your research on this organization, you will know the truth! And the truth will set you free. Both Billy and I and many others are now free.
I guess I'm confused and in limbo because I do believe many of the teachings. I feel like they do know they Bible better than most people. It just saddens me that this is just like other religions.
@@spikey01234 they have some basic teachings that i would agree follow the bible better than some groups but most of their doctrine is their ideas forced in to scriptures that they cherry pick. they are very educated on the bible with their own doctrine if that makes sense
True words. I am using g my free time away from that religion, to read my Bible and compare it to the J.W. teachings. They called me apostate. I hadn't done anything . Once I was told about my disfellowshippi g....no 3 3lder judicial meeting! 😮 I started reading their literature I had...trying to figure out how they could continue to say ' oops' .once again, we made a mistake of understanding. We had you preach an untruth. The light got better, and now we understand the Scriptures in new light. Hundreds of times. Where did those hu dress of understanding come from? Not from God who cannot lie. God wouldn't have His people preach and teach falsehoods. So, Thank u you for your exposing the false religion. Only an ex Witness could understand!
An elder once told me if you want to be disillusioned with the Watchtower "just go to Bethel". I watched this couple get chosen to go to Bethel and they were all smiles. 6 months later they came back for a visit and I noticed 2 things 1. She lost a lot of weight (being over weight is frowned upon, GB excluded) 2. The smiles were gone from their faces and replaced with the fake smile. Try getting chosen to go the Bethel after 35 without a "special skill" was a other thing he told me.
As someone who joined the Navy after leaving the JWs I can say that they are indeed very similar high-control environments, although in many ways I found life in the military to be easier/better. After being raised in the cult with a strict disciplinarian elder for a father I actually didn't have any trouble at all acclimating during basic training (which was the most intensive and high-control phase of my military career).
You were able to be friends with who ever during your service. It’s no where near the same thing. You could have a beard if you choose……I could go on for hours
The only thing I don’t like is when people call what JW’s do a bible study. It’s not a bible study. It’s a Watchtower book study. Where you are indoctrinated into JW beliefs. You read a scripted paragraph in a Watchtower magazine or book. Then a scripted question that takes you back to the scripted paragraph. Where you give the answer that the Jehovah’s Witnesses want you to give. A bible study is a verse by verse chapter by chapter reading of the Bible . With an open discussion at the end of it. What the Jehovah’s Witnesses call a bible study is a brainwashing and indoctrination into there deluded beliefs.
@@alexshatner3907 the "deceptive teachings" you refer to do not originate with so called apostates. The WTBS literature is the only source of your "deceptive teachings". Deep dive literature that they've published throughout the years. I was trapped in a cage of sin before knowing the truth. After studying and getting baptised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses I felt free like a bird flying in the sky. I know whats right and I now know what Jehovah God requires from me. Me and my family have never been happy like this.
Been 4 years since I left studying with Jw for 2 years… there’s not a day where i don’t miss being apart of the cult, I do miss some of the people but I’m glad to be out and happy with my life and with the people of the world. Amazing content Lloyd I’m glad your still making videos on this organization.
Awesome, Not getting to my family, have to get through me first. Unkind and unchristian policies. Out for 15 years, in for 40. Couldnt be happier. Good comments William.
I'm in agreement with him that the possibility of going back after shunning is non existent! My thoughts have been if you can't accept me now I don't want acceptance if you feel I'm worthy enough! Great way to say it!
It's killing me that I just commented on one of Lloyd's videos this morning about peeking behind the curtain and this video drops today! 😂Thank you Lloyd and thank you, William for this amazing interview! It's always fascinating to listen to recounted tales of what it is like to again, peek behind the curtain. About the personality change, although it's a bit different since I never went to Bethel, I can personally say that the way that the feelings of bitterness, worthlessness, aimlessness, and anger just... faded away after I left and started to heal - It was so baffling to me. I always remember being told when I was young by my immediate family that I was such an angry person, that if I married, my future husband would leave me. If I had close friends, they'd leave me too. While I realize now that a majority of these comments were emotional/verbal abuse (I definitely attend therapy now 😂), I also realize now just how much happier and free, I feel. If a religion claims to be the "One True Religion", you should never feel or experience the things so many of us have. Bit of a tangent, but thanks again for this video. 😊
There's quite a few. Lloyd did one with a GB assistant. It was an open air interview, I forgot the name, but if Tibor is gracious he might send you a link...
As a young JW whose 2 older brothers had spent time at bethel, I had absolutely no desire to serve there. I could barely stand visiting. I felt like I couldn't be myself while I was there. Exactly how I started to feel as a rank and file member just a short time later.
I had that habit of diluting the message a little bit during the preaching work, because I was ashamed of the actual teachings. I was ashamed of going to someone's home and telling them: "you know what, we are gonna kill everyone that don't follow us and if you get baptized it's for ever, there's no going back, unless you want us to shun you and btw stop dyeing your hair and wearing stylish clothes and come with us to listen to long boring talks all the time" I was aware of the way we were perceived this is why I was trying to make the message smoother.
As a teenager, I made a worldly decision with cigarettes, and a worldly girl, fornication. I was so foolish with that, just really young. My whole life was the JW organization, family, friends, and everything involved with that lifestyle. In school any of us affiliated as a JW were considered abnormal, not welcome, and not fitting in. After being disfellowshiped, you have to learn where you stand in life. You are now the abnormal one with your loved ones, your friends, congregation, and your school mates. I was told I am dead in Gods eyes. Talk about hopeless emotions. I had a tough time adjusting to shutting off the love I had coursing through me toward my newly estranged family and best friends. I felt they gave up 1 person, I gave up all of them. I have lived many decades without them. The worst was not going to God,. Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit...I accepted the words I was dead in Gods eyes. That changed 16 yrs ago, God saved me from suicide. He promised me friendships unlike any I have experienced before. He has delivered!
Bless you you are a divine treasure loved beyond measure. My wife died as df person . We were known for bieng very loving and supportive .when Tam died they told me she is dead forever. Imagine grief as I miss my sweet wife these monsters tell me this then soft shun me as she was suicidal alcoholic due to her df . She got to know Jesus and was healed and lived amazing life before a surgery neglect caused her death .
U are correct, but there was a brochure in the 80s that had the Enjoy live forever words in the title. But yes the red book is you can live forever in paradise on earth
Finished watching this excellent interview, and what the interviewee stated is so true that EVERY JW around the WORLD has this awful knowing above their heads that if they leave or get disfellowshipped, THEY LOSE THEIR FAMILIES!! EXACTLY!!
William, you are a hero. As a former JW whose family has nothing to do with me, I understand how incredibly brave you are. Thank you for having the courage to do the right thing. Great channel, Lloyd. Mind control makes people do terrible things and the leaders of the cult know this and have used it to enrich themselves and destroy the lives of millions.
This was a very good follow-up interview with William Morgan. I certainly hope that we'll see more interviews with other ex-JWs who formerly worked at Bethel facilities being featured in future videos on the LLOYD EVANS channel.
At 12:40, William was correct when he referred to the “Live Forever” book. It was the red “You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth” book. “Enjoy Life on Earth Forever” was a brochure.
I am listening to all of these informative videos and podcasts by former JW. My brother, age 54, joined the JW about 4 years ago. My reason for listening to everything is to plant informative seeds to him so that he can question his current believes. Thank you so much for what you do.
I understand so completely. Hold on and keep moving forward. Thank God for this mature program as support for us. Healing takes time. You’ve been through a brutal experience, all of us former Witnesses have. “This too, shall pass.”
His last comment prompted by Lloyd's final question to him I found very well said. "If you want to be a jw, just be a jw, don't think for yourself or do any research, just obey".It puts the entire 'head in the sand' cult mentality of jw's in total perspective.
With all those Bethel housekeepers around, Bethel sounds like a prison. Bethel workers are probably scared to do almost anything for fear of somehow going against the rules. You have to worry about what literature you read, what movies, TV shows or online programs you view, what music you listen to. I agree with Lloyd, no wonder the Pillowgate scandal occurred. How are Bethelites supposed to cope with their stress when one is constantly having Big Brother looking over your shoulder making you always worry that you're "doing something wrong"...even when you're abiding by the rules? Many Bethelites probably might cope with such stress through secretly engaging in forbidden, guilt-ridden sexual acts or by drinking outrageous amounts of alcohol, doing things that aren't healthy for them.
Here’s the odd thing. . . my brother has been “in” for 52 years. He read the old Finished Mystery series with fascination. Even when 1975 didn’t bring the New System he has remained convinced wt has the truth. He knows all about the history of the org and has weathered the new light. Still there is nothing that shakes his faith. It’s as if his internal logic is programmed.
Thank you for explaining the “soft shunning” exactly! The cloud of disapproval the withdrawing the shaming…I was disfellowshipped twice and many times in between experienced the soft shunning. I have a sort of relationship with active witness parents right now, I am “faded” currently, but as many viewers here know it can change at any time, any talk or local needs could change their attitude and demeanor with us at any moment the other shoe could drop and coldness occur(ultimately now I am building up confidence and self love so it affects me less than it use to, the way they treat me ultimately doesn’t affect me like it used to be soul crushing). Also I appreciate your mentioning the separation from the outside family members that occurs as well, like my grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles who were all Catholic and I loved them! But when mom converted we started withdrawing from them all pretty severely actually, separating ourselves and losing all my neighbor friends just loss after loss after loss… This interview is great! Only 9 minutes in so far🙏👍❣️
I loved being a Bethelite. Seven years but was df'd for being gay. It was a great place to grow up. I'd never go back, but it is hard having ambivalent feelings about my past. Forty years later, I still have dreams about it. It was grueling finding a job. I did get a university degree and am now a school teacher. I'm now married to an awesome mate. Life is good!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been out, just stopped going and had moved out in the country. That was about 30 or so years ago. It is so hard to leave the people because they get you to cut off a lot from your unbelieving family and they are your society. But how sad that they really do not love you at all! If you leave, an easy bye bye to you from them. Terribly cruel! They arrogantly look down on unbelievers and talk bad about them. So Godly, right. Even within the organization they are so cruel to each other. Their beliefs have to be forced into your mind by “studying” a twisted version of the Bible beliefs. So sad. I am thankful to God to be free of their version of “the truth” . But I must say it is difficult to trust any ‘religion’ now. I believe in God and Jesus not religion.

Wild! I always thought the GB was the “faithful and discreet slave”. When I left I thought it was an awful lot of hubris, that they would award themselves such an honor.

Which I already am not a fan but this is great info I never thought of this was about the Catholic theologians compiling the bible(66 books) in the 5th century.. Allowing “an organization of satan” to do this most important work, why did “god” allow them to compile his most important book, “his word”? Meanwhile where was this line of faithful and discreet slave? Why didn’t they do the compiling?? This is just wonderful! Thank you Lloyd for having this wonderful thinker and truth seeker back on your channel. This is a morsel I will keep in my mind and heart for life🙏🥰💖
This is amazing. We grew up with this idea that Bethel was the holiest place. It was a fantasy and unreal. I had never once heard one negative thing about it before leaving.
@@kimberlysanchez5260 it's never to late to reclaim your life. 36:50 - So "housekeepers" were basically like Wardens in a jail called Bethel. I remember a comment saying Bethel is like a cult within a cult, now I know it is definitely on point!
If you can, read 'JOURNEY TO GOD'S HOUSE' by Brock Talon. An inside story of life at the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses in the 1980's . Highly recommanded (...by myself )
I wonder how they control things like the music you listen to at bethel now? Gone are the days of the CD and now we download apps. Do they go through your phone too?🤔
Note: Catholic Church had 73 books in the bible from the 4th century, not 66. Martin Luther didn't like 1 book because it made his theology difficult, and to get rid of that one, he threw out 7 books, leading to the protestant viewpoint of 66 books.
Oh I wish I was disowned. Heck, I should had taken the advice of my schoolmates. They would bully me until they sat with me one day and asked straight up "dude what is up with you?" I said 'I am JW" they went "ooohhhhh dude you have to run away that ain't no life just pack whatever you can and go". Can you imagine that? Go ahead and tell me my odds would not be better.
Nice question from whom Russell got his info and belief as they claim there is a direct line from the apostles to the faithfull slave.. probably when asked they will come of with a "secret line" of hidden faithful slave over the centuries, much like Dan Brown's Priority of Sion. And just as believable.
How do I help my friend JW. presently we've been friends for 40 years but we never talked about believe I'm afraid that if I mention how I feel about her beliefs it would end our friendship
If he's indoctrinated, it would definitely end your friendship. One way to do it is to ask critical questions like failed predictions, JW abuse cases, frequent doctrine changes disguised as new lights...etc
I hear what is said about housekeepers being in a role in which they could “innocently” find incriminating items. I believe it is a major risk factor in Bethelites getting hauled before elders. This being the case, did Bethelites ever get satchels or minisafes that they could lock up - thus keeping their items from prying eyes. So, we’re lockable cases or safes permitted in bedrooms? Just wondering. Appreciate any one whose been at Bethel who knows whether or not lockable cases etc are permitted?
Your collection of JW literature is extremely impressive, Mr Evans ! Are you fortunate enough to have copies of Judge Rutherford’s works ? He certainly produced a good number of tracts, monographs, what have you,..including quite a few recordings on top of all of the printed polemics !…
You got to get to them when they're young the Buddha taught as a twig is bent so does the tree grow but you have to get to that tree when it's a young sapling not when it's a strong fully grown Oak

Many years ago there was a gay guy who left JW in my neighbor congregation. He mentioned that there was gay orgies at Bethel. I declined it back then but now I am not so sure. Anyone have input?
46:00 Work abroad in most cases needs work visa / permission and very often it is not easy to get them. Also foreign workers are often exploited, especially if they are not fluent in thelanguage. And in countries with higher crime rates it is good to have someone that knows the local customs. And dangers. Religious orgs are often excempt for the need of getting work permits, provided that the volunteers are not paid and the org guarantees for them (their board and their good behavior. Scientology recruits people from Europe and other nations that would never get a green card).
His arguments are valid, and some of them almost make sense. Like his expectation of an organization that is run by God. But we dont have to speculate on that because we have it in the bible. The Israelites were a nation governed by God and constantly failed and acted in ways that God didn't approve. Why would it be different now?

Begin the journey of discovering YOU. You’re free
This is great news that you both were able to escape! Maybe you can also interview with Lloyd? That would be awesome
You two should come together and have Lloyd interview you both!
The difference in personality and happiness is obvious when people escape from this controlling cult.
Was he violent toward you?
You were able to be friends with who ever during your service. It’s no where near the same thing. You could have a beard if you choose……I could go on for hours
most likely, their teachings praise discipline.
Absolutely. I've always maintained that.
I am struggling to find a good Bible that is not printed by WBTS or changed to match todays wokeness

As a young JW whose 2 older brothers had spent time at bethel, I had absolutely no desire to serve there. I could barely stand visiting. I felt like I couldn't be myself while I was there. Exactly how I started to feel as a rank and file member just a short time later.
Great interview. Thank you both
I had that habit of diluting the message a little bit during the preaching work, because I was ashamed of the actual teachings.
Great interview Lloyd, William is such a correct type, very interesting story. I appreciate, many thanks. And greetings from Germany
It wasn't Enjoy Life Forever. It was You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth.
My G ultimate moves in bethel and dating a worldly girl. Top class sir xxx This is the most badass thing I’ve heard
This was a very good follow-up interview with William Morgan. I certainly hope that we'll see more interviews with other ex-JWs who formerly worked at Bethel facilities being featured in future videos on the LLOYD EVANS channel.
Thank you Lloyd for providing a place to share our experiences with others who have walked in our shoes!
I feel so sad for JWs who wake up and realise how much time was wasted on serving a cult 😢
@@lemongrabloids3103 its a rough wakeup but a needed one.
At 12:40, William was correct when he referred to the “Live Forever” book. It was the red “You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth” book. “Enjoy Life on Earth Forever” was a brochure.
It blows me away that people don't know the red book - it was the book that suckered me in and was the MAIN indoctrination book for MANY years!!!
Yes I also noticed that. Good catch!
We need a “surviving Jehovah’s Witnesses” documentary…
Keep up the videos Lloyd. You are helping so many to wake up. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great interview! Thanks you guys
Probably he's stuck in the denial phase of grief. Because when you're in the cult for decades, it's hard to accept that you've been fooled all along.
But when mom converted we started withdrawing from them all pretty severely actually, separating ourselves and losing all my neighbor friends just loss after loss after loss…
This interview is great!
Now we know why they taught us not to do independent meditation. We might just put it all together and see past the illusion.
I always think of the wayward son that leaves, spend his inheritance on wasteful things, yet his father opened his arms nd was glad to have him come back
Great interview! I couldn't stop watching it.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you for this!! Line of reasoning is absolutely brilliant 💯life changing about the Bible!

@@kimberlysanchez5260 it's never to late to reclaim your life. To think that a loving god will destroy us for not believing in the frauds that preach "overlapping generations" isn't any kind of reality. I visited bethel few years ago and I was disillusioned. Cold atmosphere and unhappy guide and was just a waste of time. Now I know why.
I would have thought Sade's music would be considered too sensual 🤭
I wonder how they control things like the music you listen to at bethel now? Gone are the days of the CD and now we download apps. Do they go through your phone too?🤔
Do we get to find out the book he was referring to, at about 9 mins in??
Did his wife leave the organization or did they divorce?
Note: Catholic Church had 73 books in the bible from the 4th century, not 66. Martin Luther didn't like 1 book because it made his theology difficult, and to get rid of that one, he threw out 7 books, leading to the protestant viewpoint of 66 books.
Thank you so much.
Oh I wish I was disowned. Heck, I should had taken the advice of my schoolmates. They would bully me until they sat with me one day and asked straight up "dude what is up with you?" Nice question from whom Russell got his info and belief as they claim there is a direct line from the apostles to the faithfull slave..
probably when asked they will come of with a "secret line" of hidden faithful slave over the centuries, much like Dan Brown's Priority of Sion. And just as believable.
What people won't do to get to heaven. Amazed how much personal time and freedom a person will give up for religion.

Retaliation took longer than I ever expected and is the responsibility of your organization whose blood is in their hands for causing the emotional and mental destruction of their own members! Mentally diseased come on the only ones mentally diseased are the ones on the inside condoning horrific actions and staying loyal to the ones they worship the GOVERNING BODY! Worship of Jehovah ended a long time ago you all worship the men who profess to be in charge and demand obedience and loyalty at any cost! Condoning CSA and spousal abuse and the followers blindly stay loyal! The world doesn't even condone such a awful things! That's why there a court system! For the love of God I do not care about the BS that separates family for blind loyalty! Right is right and wrong is wrong! 7 things that Jehovah does hate right? But you blindly serve!!!!!

You are a part of the ex Jehovah's Witnesses my friend! You have become an apostate yourself because of this! I wish there was no visible organization so called true religion! This visible originization has serious bloodshed on their hands. Spiritually killing thousands and now literal bloodshed as well! So welcome to apostasy because you are an apostate because of your actions of watching! You are subject to disfellowshiping just for being in this platform! So again welcome to apostasy enjoy the ride!

Ok we're done here! Studying religion and not being baptized does not make you an expert on cult terrorism! You do not have the experience to understand all on this platform! All of us have been tortured in one way or the other by the organization you're joining. I feel bad that you are joining a religion that condones horrific crimes to happen. Now you are condoning child sex abuse and it's cover up, spousal abuse, and condoning the mental health crisis in their organization! Lucky you!!! I for one can't be a part of an organization that allowed my assault and protected the perpetrator so he could harm other children. Love in paradise with these people WHY would I want that! To live in a paradise designed for pedophile's! So unfortunately in time after baptism you'll experience what the rest of us have! Education is frowned upon so at least you have some education kiss it goodbye 👋 but educated doesn't make you educated in common sense! The people you are joining don't have common sense! BTW since you are listening to an apostate utube and so called honesty is what's needed for baptism, you might want to be honest with your local elders that you are an apostate because of listening! Jehovah's Witnesses are all about honesty ha

you are right I am unapologetic for the crimes done to me that got me in the position of why I'm out! I don't repent for crimes done to me not crimes I did. So I'm glad to be out of an organization that permits crimes the world doesn't condone. Good luck but get off this platform! Because your baptism will be a lie because as I said your an apostate and soon to be a hypocrite! Good luck!!!
@@alexshatner3907 Why do you keep talking to apostates? Aren’t you supposed to shun them?
Question, do you think the governing body knows it's not the truth?
His arguments are valid, and some of them almost make sense. Like his expectation of an organization that is run by God. But we dont have to speculate on that because we have it in the bible. The Israelites were a nation governed by God and constantly failed and acted in ways that God didn't approve. Why would it be different now?
