It's a UNESCO world heritage site for a reason. 2) Visit Southern Styria's wine area: Drive by car along the so called "Weinstraße" (wine road) from Ehrenhausen to Leutschach 3) Visit the famous Green lake - a paradise for divers and hikers alike 4) Bad Aussee: An incredibly beautiful village with a gorgeous lake. 5) Go skiiing in Zürs/Lech. I was at the Grossglocknerroad once. In my childhood in the 80's. Haven't seen the area since but I had some memories in my brain how it looked. Haven't seen it since, and your droneshots were quite shocking to me. The snow and ice I remember.... all gone. That glacier lake that you loved so much... wasn't there. The glacier was there were the lake is now.
No way! Thats really interesting to hear about you going there so long ago. I was a little sad by the size of the glacier. Global warming is taking its toll
exactly, being from Austria, my grandparents tell me the same thing.. that when my mother was younger and they would go on holidays with their children, the glacier was huuuge, now nearly everything gone. :(
*I was there in around 1962 and it's totally unrecognisable today, I remember in July 'tobogganing' down the ice sheets and snow on a plastic sheet with 2 pals. Also trying to be clever 'freewheeling' down to Heiligenblut am Großglockner, for an evening for a few beers, and boiling the brake fluid on my Citroen DS19 on the descent. Stayed at the Hotel near the summit and cost around £1 a night, can't remember the name. Remember had **_Vienna Schnitzel_** for the first time, and delicious but since finding out from baby cows would never do again. Yes Global Warming has altered these places enormously as in Switzerland with huge Glaciers retreating, however I ask "Is it Man Made" This I doubt very much. Once a Glacier starts melting it exposed bare 'dark' rock which at these latitudes absorb tremendous heat during the summer and have a very accelerated progression. Still a very beautiful area to experience the power of nature and our wonderful world we live in.*
I live in upper styria and its amazing driving from south styria where the geographie is quite flat, or rather hilly to upper styria where you get to see more and more mountains until you cant even look at the horizon.

Austria is amazingly beautiful, and you captured it so well! My heart breaks that I may never this beautiful country or its people again. My wife was Austrian, born in Villach, grew up around Millstätter See. She just unexpectedly passed away last month. We were planning on returning back to her homeland next May for her birthday. She wanted to show me more places like you have in the video. Sure Salzburg and Vienna were amazing when we visited, but I enjoyed the most when we visited small villages, hidden mountain lakes, places not always filled with tourists. There is something special about being with a native speaker, you get to enjoy the experience that much more. I will forever be touched by all the beautiful people I met in my visits to Austria. Thank you for sharing this video, it made me happy and sad all at once. Ich liebe Österreich!
Ah thanks Richard for your heart felt comment. I'm so sorry for the passing of your wife. I wish you could have visited Austria with her. I hope you can return one day and she can accompany you in spirit. All the best! Ryan
I live close to Austria and visited there several times. I absolutely love this country. The Alpine region is just astonishing. I love how they take care of nature and it always comes before the infrastructure and people's houses. It's green, beautiful, clean, people are nice and friendly and I love the food too. People are often surprised by how amazing this country is.
Austria is a very beautiful and peaceful country. Since I left Austria I have always wanted to go back for holidays and also see some of my teenage years places we stayed like in . Niederosterreich and Steiermark. I really missed Austria.

My first visit to Austria was sometime in the mid 90s to attend a military course in Vienna. It was my first visit to an European country, and I have loved this country ever since and haven't had enough of it. Been there 4 times and visited Vienna, Salzburg, Wels and my Austrian friend's birthplace in Wolfsegg. The last time I was there was in 2006 when I brought my wife there for our honeymoon. She too fell in love with the country the minute she stepped onto Austrian soil. Everything was so magical!!! Heaven is a place called Austria! 😍❤😊
I am planning a trip for my parent’s 33rd anniversry to Austria. My father visited the country as a student in the 70’s and 80’s and always said its one of the most amazing countries he has ever been to , and he has been to many and gave his kids the travel bug too. This video was very helpful and I can see why my father loved this country, thank you.
I am actually from Austria and i love how you showed people some not so well known places which are really, really awesome. Of course it's nice to see vienna, but all in all it is a big european capital like many others. I recommend anyone to take a trip through the country with a rental car. It doesn't even have to be super high mounains or Tyrol, southern upper Austria and Salzburg region works superfine.
I am very lucky that my partner is Austrian who is living in Pinzgau. I have been travelling to Austria a few times a year for the past three years. Indeed, this country is absolutely gorgeous and Austrians are actually very friendly people, at least those who are not in the cities. I have been to some of the places you've mentioned here and surely will visit Großglockner Hochalpenstraße next summer. Thank you for the beautiful video.
@@RyanShirley I'm from lower Austria it's the biggest federal state. Now I am living in Vienna and I really like it. You should visit Vienna, Styria, Carinthia and Tyrol also. In Styria for example you can visit many wineyards, castles, there are soft hills,.. It's famous for its drinks and food, for example Uhudler, pumpkin seed oil, different fruits. I like it! 😊
Austria or Italy are the only countries I want to go to I love the little towns with all the amazing architecture you don’t see stuff like that in the USA I think the mountains are awesome and the lakes are gorgeous I’ve been around a lot of the USA but these shots look a lot cooler then the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore was.

Watching this as an Austrian living near Vienna. I have only been to the city of Salzburg once, which was beautiful, but have never seen the mountains and nature there! This is a great video even for Austrians!
It doesn`t mean Gosausseen lake the lake is in the Name. "Seen" is in German "Lake". Besides that Awesome Video, Austria is so beautiful. Greetings from Germany.
I live in Austria , the Area known as Carinthia ( Karnten) has the most sunshine in the country , and some amazing lakes , and the Lesachtal valley is the most natural in the alps , worth a visit
Hi Ryan. My wife and I went up Schafberg the other day and walked around Gosau lake yesterday. Thanks for the recommendations. They were amazing!!! Cheers Peter.
I loved this so much. Thank you for making it and uploading it. Must have been hard to leave all of that....it's something you always keep with you for the rest of your life.
Right you are. Those places are really beautiful. But I would call it top 10 of western Austria. I am from Austria and I am learning every day how beautiful this place on earth really is.
Thank you for sharing these beautfiul pictures of my home! I am happy that friends from all over the world come to visit us and then share how much they enjoyd their time. Come back, when you have the time, bring your family, you are always welcome. 🙂
In general all of these places are worth to visit, but I would also recommend you to go to "Zell am See" and "Bad Gastein", these villages are as beautiful as St. Wolfgang and you can easily pass them on your way to the Großglockner! Besides of the mountains our city's are also very beautiful, especially Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna! If you want more nice places to visit in Austria, just comment!👍☺️
@@lukasauer02 My recommendation (for Upper Austria / Salzburg): Salzburg (City), -> Attersee (+ Mondsee by Boat & Bus?) -> Bad Ischl -> Gmunden (Traunsee). 3 Cities, 3 Lakes and alot of mountains. All destinations accessible by train, with a "tourist friendly" infrastructure. Do not get me wrong, Gastein, Gosau, Hallstatt etc. are beautifull places but therefor you need time & a car. Und ans is a sicha: hauptsoch de kuman ned bei mia daham vorbei ;)
I can definitely relate to your love of incredible alpine settings. You've presented some of my favorite places including the Lofoten Islands. I'm going to have to move beyond my Hallstatt experience and check out your other 9 spots. Your recs have a 100% awesomeness score so far!
I love Austria ❤ i visited Innsbruck. Salzburg. Vienna. Very lovely place. Clean. Educated people. Wonderful country. Just I need one boyfriend form there 😂 for travel more there 👍
I know it’s been said a thousand times in the comments but as an Austrian I really don’t Manage to appreciate my countries beauty as much as should. That’s why I love watching these kinds of videos
I think that requires a lot of traveling, I usually see the very big travel video makers publish top 10 videos after having spent about 3 months of traveling in one country. Nevertheless, Austria is super beautiful! Greetings from your Swiss neighbor.
The east part of the country is not so exciting anyway. Its mostly smaller hils and wide open fields of agriculture. Only places worth visiting are of course Vienna and probably the Schneeberg which is a 2000m mountain. There is a railway which takes you almost to the top of the mountain. The southern part however is very nice with Carinthia!
Marburg an der Drau also is a very beautiful city in Austria I can only recommend to visit! Laibach might be good as well. Seriously, how the fuck did you get the idea that Tyrol had any connection with Slovenia?
Awesome video man! Your choices are really great :) For the next time you come and see Austria you should visit the Faaker See, Bärenschützklamm, Eispalast Hintertux and all the beautiful landscapes in Autumn - you are going to love it! Greetings from Graz :)
for everyone interesteg in youth culture, here are some austrian bands which are popular right now in Austria. Here is a list and an example-song: Bilderbuch ("Maschin", "Plansch") Leyya ("Zoo", "The Fall", "Solitude") Wanda ("Columbo", "Bolognia") Naked Cameo ("Shangri La", "Dead Weight") Sharktank ("HAPPY", "Too much") Josh. ("Cordula Grün", "Von dir ein Tattoo") Folkshilfe ("Mir laungts", "Maria Dolores") Pressyes ("Atlantic Ocean Spray", "Years") My Ugly Clementine ("Who", "The Good The Bad The Ugly") One ticket should not be more than 40€. Most tickets will be more like 25€. Because "big bands" in austria are still kind of "small" compared to Coldplay, Rammstein etc, but we love them. If you have the chance to visit a concert, do it :D
I like to follow your blog and your selection of Dolomites was right on top. For Austria, you picked out great spots - no doubt, but it's evident that you haven't spend enough time to see the whole country. So I wouldn't call them 'Top 10 Places To Visit In Austria'. Austria is a different animal than Switzerland or the Dolomites as the variance is so much bigger from cultural heritages to salt mines (good comment by Jana!) to totally flat lakes (+ it's double the size as Switzerland). To make a long story short: besides the wonderful towns of Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck, I would not want to miss: - Lake Salfeins, Tirol - Karwendel, Tirol - Burg Dürnstein, Niederösterreich - Neusiedlersee - Sölkpass, Styria + one ore the other monastery like Melk or Göttweig
Michael00000001 thanks so much Michael for your extra suggestion! I only had 3 days there so I definitely missed a lot of places! But I’m thankful you added some extra spots! Are you from Austria?
as an austrian you don't really realize how beautiful austria is but when i see the videos i can really see how pretty i live

Because of this video we went to Gosau and the Gosausee. You were right. It was awesome.
It doesn`t mean Gosausseen lake the lake is in the Name. "Seen" is in German "Lake".
Besides that Awesome Video, Austria is so beautiful. Greetings from Germany.
Mitja ._ oh wow, I did not know that! Thanks so much for the tip!! I’ll work on my German :)
@@RyanShirley That goes for all lakes that have the name "See" in them. So it's rather "Wolfgang Lake" or "Wolfgangsee".
"Seen" means lakes, not lake
Same with Schafberg Mountain.. Berg=Mountain
Btw Schaf means Sheep
Try See, Mitja.
I am a proud Austrian! Was 3 month in Los Angeles. Yes and I am proud to be born in this beautiful country. Safe sources. God is he great

Of course! Where are you from?
Boston, Massachusetts!!
Absolutely beautiful! Already planning my trip there
I live in Austria , the Area known as Carinthia ( Karnten) has the most sunshine in the country , and some amazing lakes , and the Lesachtal valley is the most natural in the alps , worth a visit
Im interested in Carinthia, has a nice old square, I may pay a visit this September
This part of Austria is simply amazing! I will visit it again some day.
Simply unparallel! Perhaps God himself painted Austria.
Hi Ryan. My wife and I went up Schafberg the other day and walked around Gosau lake yesterday. Thanks for the recommendations. They were amazing!!! Cheers Peter.
Wow that’s awesome! I think they are some incredible areas, so jealous your in Austria!
You should visit the "Grüner See" in Styria. It's also amazing.
Wow it looks very alike Synevyr lake in my Ukraine.

Very nice video...I love Austria
I loved this so much. Thank you for making it and uploading it. Must have been hard to leave all of that....it's something you always keep with you for the rest of your life.
Right you are. Those places are really beautiful. But I would call it top 10 of western Austria. I am from Austria and I am learning every day how beautiful this place on earth really is.
Which parts of the alps is the most bueatiful to visit?
Such a beautiful country love from 🇹🇷
Number one should be the Attersee, i lived there for 15 years and its the most beautiful lake you have ever seen, in summer the water is so clear
I would like to go there,,, but we can't 😢😢
The only just say Hey from Bali.
The Zillertal alps look incredible! I also love your pronunciation of the words ☺️
Thanks Honey Badger! You're my best friend besides Heather
@@RyanShirley My names Heather too, haha. I live in Denver Colorado. 💗💗💗

Thanks so much Christopher, I hope to come back soon. What part of Austria are you from?
Its more a “Favorite places near Salzburg “
But a nice video 👍👍
This video gave me goosebumps. Going to Austria at the first opportunity.. thanks for sharing.
Im inspired! Austria 2020 for me!
Yes Paul! I'm stoked for you to go there!
Zero Zero jaja scho recht :-D de bundesstrassn am Traunsee is heut scho wieda im Dauerbetrieb ;-)
Happy to hear ☺️
That you are visting us ☺️
Such a beautiful Place. I would loved to Visit this places. Thank you for the Video 😍
Austria is waiting :)
Beautifull Austria! I have been many times in Austria yet I haven’t explore most of these places, I’ll be back for sure. Greetings from Croatia.
와 정말 환상적입니다요 Oh it's a fantastic country
I'm mostly english and chinese but my granddad is from austria and watching this legit makes me want to learn more about it. nice video.
I can definitely relate to your love of incredible alpine settings.
You've presented some of my favorite places including the Lofoten Islands. I'm going to have to move beyond my Hallstatt experience and check out your other 9 spots.
Your recs have a 100% awesomeness score so far!
It’s pretty hard to beat the scenery in the alps! Especially in countries like Austria and Switzerland. And gotta love the Lofoten islands :)
Wow! Austria is too freaking beautiful!
if you hike rather than driver everywhere you will actually have a much more real experience of these beautiful places
This is very true ☺️🏃🏼♂️🏔
Also check out the "Weißensee" in Austria!
Welcher, der in Tirol oder in Kärnten? :P
Neusiedlersee 😂

I love Austria ❤ i visited Innsbruck. Salzburg. Vienna. Very lovely place. Clean. Educated people. Wonderful country. Just I need one boyfriend form there 😂 for travel more there 👍
Love the video. You did such a good job filming these landscapes ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for the post
In carinthia there are also some beatifull spots
I know it’s been said a thousand times in the comments but as an Austrian I really don’t Manage to appreciate my countries beauty as much as should. That’s why I love watching these kinds of videos
Thanks Daniel! What part of Austria are you from?
@@RyanShirley My dad’s from the US, but my mother is Austrian. And I was born in Waldviertel (a part of lower Austria). Also thanks for replying
You should go to Tirol! It is so beautiful
Absolutely!

Love Austria ! The city of Salzburg was where they filmed the "Sound of Music" Gorgeous country to visit no doubt !
My ancestors come from there.I want to go.
It always baffles me to see Hallstatt in these lists. It's a theme park atmosphere - so many more authentic-feeling places around it that are better
I can see that, it definitely is overrated! I should have focused more on other more authentic Austrian villages
You missed „Wachau“, a UNESCO world heritage at the danube where all the winehills are.
As an Austrian, I'd recommend in addition:
Wachau
Südsteiermark
Ausseerland
Wörthersee/Weissensee
Graz
Gmunden/Traunsee
and of course Vienna.
Amazing suggestions ☺️
Austria it was my favorite country for mountains, until i went to Switzerland, but is not too far. Anyway amazing drone footage.
Wonderful scenic ! I feel like to go there. Thanks for the video
Der Bua mag des Salzkammergut anscheinend 😅. Grüße an alle Österreicher aus Graz

Thank you soooo much.. brilliant footage wished I saw it earlier befor I went there ✨💓
Of course!! Hope you can return soon
What happen to the rest of the 9 provinces...its only 5% of what the state has...
I need to go back and see everywhere else!
@@RyanShirley definitely do, there is so much more to see!
@@phil_5430 the east has really good wine, though.
Beautiful country Slovenia.
Carinthia, Styria, Tyrol,..
Slovenia the most beautiful country in the world. ❤
Thanks so much friend! I'll have to go back and visit !
for everyone interesteg in youth culture, here are some austrian bands which are popular right now in Austria. Here is a list and an example-song:
Bilderbuch ("Maschin", "Plansch")
Leyya ("Zoo", "The Fall", "Solitude")
Wanda ("Columbo", "Bolognia")
Naked Cameo ("Shangri La", "Dead Weight")
Sharktank ("HAPPY", "Too much")
Josh. ("Cordula Grün", "Von dir ein Tattoo")
Folkshilfe ("Mir laungts", "Maria Dolores")
Pressyes ("Atlantic Ocean Spray", "Years")
My Ugly Clementine ("Who", "The Good The Bad The Ugly")
One ticket should not be more than 40€.
To make a long story short: besides the wonderful towns of Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck, I would not want to miss:
- Lake Salfeins, Tirol
- Karwendel, Tirol
- Burg Dürnstein, Niederösterreich
- Neusiedlersee
- Sölkpass, Styria
+ one ore the other monastery like Melk or Göttweig
Michael00000001 thanks so much Michael for your extra suggestion! I only had 3 days there so I definitely missed a lot of places! But I’m thankful you added some extra spots! Are you from Austria?
@@RyanShirley originally yes. Every year spending some days or weeks there. Living in Switzerland.
@@Michael00000001 Very cool! What part of Switzerland?
@@RyanShirley Zurich - BTW: your Switzerland video is awesome!
The Neusiedlersee is overratet the southstyrian winestreet is (especialy in Artum) so much more beatiful.
