- Episode 4 of season 4!! And I just learned that season 5 is right around the corner!!!

The system forces you into relationships that are uncomfortable because of the very reason you said, the question of adversity. The system doesn't know if you might grow to love someone that you don't initially get along with. The system has no idea how you work. Therefore, it must test all possible couplings no matter how "good" or "bad" it perceives them. The guys year long relationship with an "incompatible" woman was merely a stress test to see if he truly was incompatible.
It always makes me smile how many Black Mirror reaction videos feature people going "Whaaaat?" :-)

My favourite Black Mirror episodes are usually the darkest ones but I absolutely loved this one. I actually happy cried when I understood what was happening lol 😁
The dark ones are intense o.o (like 4X05...maaaaaaaaan!!) But it's true that this one had a certain charm to it :D

omgggggggggg I love this episode so much. One of my favorites.
It was such a cute episode! (The soundtrack!! Gosh I loved it!!)
In fact, simply take the "Egg" technology from the White Christmas episode, and create a world for them and you've got it.
Remember the cookie, they had the operation so they could get into the system. Their copies are so put through, not just 1000 simulations, but most likely million and millions of relastionships with millions of other cookies, untill they have their first rebellion together, then they do the last 1000 simulations, 998 rebellions, 99.8% match.
They reeeeally like that cookie thingy xD

My favourite episode. Glad you guys reacted to it and liked it as much as well. Doing great!! 👍 one small thing I liked about it is, each successful simulation when they completed the goal, each pair turned into light and both merged into 1 entity. 998 times 💜
It was such a beautiful episode X3 both the story and the visuals were stunning!!
Actually there's one thing that pretty much stayed similar in a lot of episodes and that's revolving around the whole 'mind copy' idea. Remember the 'cookie'? that thing was basically a copy of one's mind, an identical digital copy of someone. That means everything about that specific person is registered in the cloud (etc). This leads to this episode. The app they're using seems to know a lot about them down to an intimate level. I wouldn't say 100% of 'themselves' was used by the "Coach" in the simulation, as we never heard anything about their relatives, past, etc, but the most important stuff that's relevant to their future is exploited instead. So instead of going through all the relationships themselves, through trial and error, the "Coach" is doing these simulations with their digital copies. That saves them a lot of years of potential misery til their perfect match is finally found. The simulation they were in during the whole episode, was only 1 of the 1000. And everything happened in an instant in real time. It's pretty crazy.
Anyway, this was one of my favourite episodes of the whole series because it has a happy ending and shall I say it prepares you for the next one. lol
Oooh man...yep! We definitely needed that episode before going into metalhead o.o (I just finished editing it...it was one awesome and disturbing ride!!) The cookie seems to be the most popular piece of technology in the show (it comes back soooo often!) I think that might be because it's such a controversial thing (the idea of recreating someone's consciousness and using it for whatever purpose) but I mean...that's part of what BM is about! Controversy ;)
The bottom line is that we were watching a simulation of a possible match in a dating prog. Once the prog had run its course, we returned to reality, leaving the characters to their own devices.
This episode was absolutely amazing. My top 3 episodes of all time are: San Junipero, USS Callister and Hang the DJ.
Aaaah San Junipero is also in my top 3!! I agree, it was a great episode! (A rare but welcomed happy ending n.n)

If you loved the soundtrack it's Sigur Ros' Jonsi. You should listen to some of his work. Listen to Sigur Ros - Ara Batur, Hoppipolla etc. The song near the end, Sigur Ros wrote "End" specifically for Black Mirror.

I agree!! I've been telling her the same ever since we started these reactions :/ the thing is, she is a lot more reserved ): English is not our main language too and she struggles with it more than I do, so she tends to talk a lot less (but she understands! No worries there ;) )
I wish that i talk more too to be Honest 😅 it's weird, because depending on the show, it'll be more or less easy for me to say what i have in mind. Unfortunately, Black Mirror isn't one of the lucky ones 😅 but yeah don't worry. I don't talk much but i still catch everything 👍😎👍
BTW: 22:41 May keep in Mind that the Dublicates act like as if they had all the experiences that shaped them. They're not living the Relationship this Way, but they experience each other and based on that, they rebel or not. And since they go thru 1000 different scenarios, expect them to make sure they'll match very accurate.
And when they are put together with other characters (Be they Data of real People aswel, or total fictional creations), they could decide to chose another Match. At that Point it's importint, they don't "live the Ralationship", too, cuz the Limitation by the "System" acts here aswel.
So every Partner assigned to the Dublicate is asigned under same Conditions. They too just go thru it until it ends.
So if they still rebel 99,8%, decide to stick with the Dublicate that's about to be tested, this will still say a Lot to the real Person.

My impression was that the people in the simulation aren't real (or cookies) at all. The whole episode is just a visual representation of one simulated relationship (out of 1,000) that happens in like one second in the real world. Just a storytelling device. Basically...the app quickly runs through 1,000 simulations and shows your match percentage. So...I don't feel bad about these "fake" characters like I do with the episodes involving cookies.
It could be! I know we've been told the episodes happen in basically the same universe, so the technology we see in one episode is likely to be the same (or an earlier version) device and that's why we went with the cookie theory, but it could be closer to the virtual reality episode where everything was a simulation!
Guys, from the happy tone of this one, I like to think the experiences of all 2000 "cookie" sims for each couple somehow become absorbed into the consciousness, or at least the consciences of the real-world users of the app. So in the end, the "cookies" live on to reside somewhere in their home minds after their literal .04517 seconds of "life." This might be my favorite episode.

After your highly emotional Reactions to "San Junipero" I found it kinda disappointing here to see no Tears at all. Somehow you seemed to be stuck in the "WTF"-Moment, right?
But AFAIK I didn't cry after seeing it the first Time, cuz I've been stuck between Undeestanding & WTF, too.
Cried even more after seeing it again.
I'm actually still surprised by how emotional I got for San Junipero 😅 Black Mirror always leads to incredible debates, though, wether or not it got us to cry ;)
@@kyuujinreacts Yes, the most usual Reaction to Black Mirror is just: "WTF?!"
Very few Happy Ends with smooth emotional Moments.
"Hang The DJ" is a very unique Episode that combines these 2 Aspects, and I think, once the Story is understood AND the Surprises/WTF-Moments are passed by, there's more Space for emotional Reactions, and therefore, I think it's one of the best Opportunities for a beautiful "Rewatch"-Episode.
So If Rewatch is a Concept you'd like to do sometimes, I'd really like to see you reacting to HTDJ again.
