I can confirm that you are unlikely to get even a slap on the wrist for small scale (less than 50 birds) poultry theft. I know because a van filled with 40+ of my very best, rare breed 6 month old pullets ( entered for auction and due to make £45+ each) ( a dozen of their eggs could go for over £60 ) was pulled over for a broken tail light, and the birds discovered in the back, the police let them go, with a caution, even though this was the second raid that I’d reported. I never saw any of my birds again. After the third raid, I gave up. So, unless your stolen chickens are discovered in the back room of a butchers shop, the thieves are quite safe.

From Gov website: When you do not need to register You do not need to register psittaciformes or passeriformes (such as budgies, parrots, cockatiels and finches) if they are both: fully housed in a dwelling (your home or another indoor structure) with no access to the open air You do not need to register an exempt bird to visit a veterinary practice. If your birds are taken outdoors at any time, for example to be exercised, trained, or taken to bird gatherings or shows, they must be registered.
Thanks for your comment - I know! Bees are struggling so much in the U.K. due to a terrible climate which has been messed with by spraying of skies, fields etc :(

If tv licence inspectors can harass you for just having a tv and POTENTIALLY being able to commit a crime, does this mean that Bird Licence Inspectors will be able to check for EGGS?
Not budgies! There have been lots of untruthful stories circulating about this. Only birds that fly free like gamebirds, those that are traditionally kept as farmyard stock, raptors used for flying demonstrations pigeons etc. In essense, birds that are likely to be in contact with wild birds or those that could be used for meat or eggs production need be registered. It was in place for those owning 60 or more birds decades ago because recording egg or meat production was necessary so that, in a food poisoning outbreak a particular keeper, who might have caused it through dirty production method and poor hygiene could be held respinsible. When avian flu became a thing, it was changed to those keeping more than 20 birds and a about 2 years ago to just one. Pigeons and, I think raptors kept for flying displays etc are all included. I filled in the form again last wek. We used to keep around 60 birds, ducks, geese and chickens for egg production in a traditional, pastures setting but have retired and now have only 8 layers for our own eggs. You don't pay anything and you are registered and not licenced. Pet birds such as partots, budgies or canaries are not on the online form but Defra mentions that, if kept in an outdoor avery, the mesh must be small enough for wild birds not to get in. Technically, all swans are wild, you can't legally own one so, if one takes up residence in your land, you amenities owner and so wouldn't need to register it. If you don't know the ordinance survey map number where you keep them you can just fill in the post code and say something like ' in the back garden.' None of this is the big deal it has been made out to be. It took me less than 5 minutes to fill and return and an acceptance letter came back within three days. It was easier and faster than telling the DVLA when we sold our car.
Here in Portugal only commercial poultry places need to register, everyone has the right to keep own birds or grow own garden, though the powers that be did reduce the numbers of birds which can be kept without registration.
I can imagine the dystopian water holes selling half litres of grog in the future. That one old guy in the corner. "I remember Chickens and eggs youd get them for a dozen or arrf a dozen" As the Van pulls up to whisk him away.
I have a robin Redbreast, 3 blackbirds, cheeky wee birds, about 8 sparrows, and half a dozen crows, O i forgot 2 magpies. Winifred Thompson. Northern Ireland.
If you're interested, research "Ross 708", "Cobb" and "ISA" with the word "poultry", "broilers" or "chickens". The corporations behind the breeding of meat and egg producing birds will not admit that in their quest for high volume efficient production, they failed to also improve disease resistance. So a home bred or sustainably managed farm will always have birds that have similar disease resistance to wild populations. Wild bred, genetically diverse species will always outlive "clones" (very little genetic variance poultry). It's already happening with bananas. The original banana is already extinct.
I would, much rather pay more money for a pasture raised organic well fed chicken that is genuinely healthy to consume and what people dont do anymore is make their stock etc to get full use from the bones and that’s another healthy meal. We pay the money for the better ones because if that.
How is the shooting estates going to manage this .. They have the most birds wandering all over the place , Someone,s not thought this through 😂 but this is the U.K. so that’s entirely expected..
The new rules cover owners of backyard flocks, birds of prey and pigeon fanciers, but do not affect caged pet birds (excluding any poultry species) kept entirely inside a domestic dwelling, such as a parrot, canary or budgie, which never leaves the property other than to visit a vet or another short-term period.
Lobby your Local and district MP’s, that’s what they are there for. If every owner of any bird (or not, if you feel this is wrong) approaches their MP and says they think the law is a control measure and can affect their human rights, I’m sure the MP will do all they can. If not, you complain they are not representing their constituents and don’t deserve their place on the local or central gov. We’ve been owning and collecting eggs forever, and bird flu hasn’t been a problem in hundreds of years, only since the Chinese in 1996! What’s changed…..it’s the way the world food producers keep their animals and bird that cause diseases. They should be the ones to clean up their act, not a poultry (😮apologies) few. This is another monitoring exercise……I’m just a little fed up with people moaning and not actually doing anything.
Some people will be keeping chickens because the don't have money. They are the people that will end up in a slammer. Granny keeps a chicken? IN THE SLAMMER. Rupert got a budgie? IN THE SLAMMER! It's like witch trials. Keeping chickens is the new witchcraft.

Who is responsible for registering all the CHICKENS in the houses of parliament
At the moment there aren’t any, they have yet to come home to roost! But they will.
Very good lol thanks for the comment.
not chickens. theyre hogs wih their snouts in the trough
The swine and the dogs in there!
Budgies are mostly kept indoors. Not counted .possibly for out door aviaries.
Also not included cocatiels canary finches indoors.hope this helps
If the budgy is caged and the cage goes outdoors it has to be registered👍
Thanks for the comment
Free range eggs, are the only one's i will buy .
Thanks for your comment. I totally agree. I am trying to go one step further with pasture raised. I worked in a large chicken egg producer and asked about the free range. In that company if they got out for 20mins it was classed as free range lol. The rest of time locked up no light and fed on pellets…
No free-range eggs since 'bird flu' was invented
Get chat GPT to write a defence against the Non- registration of your birds by using the ECHR..
It makes a case against registering "PRIVATE PROPERTY".
"Right to Respect for Private and Family Life (Article 8 of the ECHR)
Under Article 8 of the ECHR, I am entitled to respect for my private and family life, my home, and my personal data. While the state may interfere with this right in pursuit of public health objectives under Article 8(2), any such interference must be lawful, necessary, and proportionate." IT IS NOT !
And there is a whole lot more....
Thanks for your comment lol I like it!
why you think they wanted to leave Europe.. they replacing the convention of human rights with there own version more suited to british standards.
That’s a silly headline. No one can make you register anything its your choice to do it. Ignore their ridiculous ‘mandates’. A ‘mandate’ IS NOT law.
Thanks for your comment. They are saying though you will be fine and jail sentence if you don’t comply. They are trying to take that choice away which is very sad
Most of what government comes up with is not law. Just look at the judicial system , removing rights to trial by jury . Will not end well .
Don't forget your partridge in a pear tree
@evaflowervines9520 thanks for your comment
The only way they can fine you is if you consent to letting them in to your property to check AND if you consent to being the name of the person you registered under. So don’t open the door and if you do and they ask you to confirm your name you simply say I don’t need to answer your questions thank you and you are trespassing on private property please leave, it’s all threats and coercion just like ‘Covid’. No one forced anyone to take a test or a jab but they can lie, bully and coerce. Just ignore. They are simply goons following orders
Do I need to register my weathercock?
😂😂😂

Enjoyed listening to you, on this serious Subject! love your Humour, no other Nation beats a UK sense of Humour!
thank you so much for the comment, it means a lot. Hope you enjoy my future videos as much. I will try and mix it up so not all serious. Some more life/look after yourself one’s coming and working on a couple of self sufficiency ones too. Spring next year I will make a video on the journey of hatching an egg to full grown bird as well. Have a nice weekend
From Gov website:
When you do not need to register
You do not need to register psittaciformes or passeriformes (such as budgies, parrots, cockatiels and finches) if they are both:
fully housed in a dwelling (your home or another indoor structure)
with no access to the open air
You do not need to register an exempt bird to visit a veterinary practice.
If your birds are taken outdoors at any time, for example to be exercised, trained, or taken to bird gatherings or shows, they must be registered.
During the war the ministery of food guy would go around to check if you kept birds in your yard or how many farmers kept .. Are we due a war here
Thanks for your comment
Next it will be wildlife in yor backyard
Thanks for your comment - I know! Bees are struggling so much in the U.K. due to a terrible climate which has been messed with by spraying of skies, fields etc :(
Have they the manpower to police this? and can they do you if you were slowly getting around to registering them?
Thanks for your comment. I don’t believe they have the police but will neighbours report you like people did in the lockdowns?

Let everyone in Uk register as sparrow keeper.

Ha😂
I’ve got 30 chickens in pens, I won’t be registering a single one of them.

What a load of cobblers !! How are they going to police that ? Check every home in Great Britain ...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for your comment. I know, police could be used better. They will hope neighbours keep an eye out like the lockdowns…
Believe in chicken, i do.
I have a stuffed black Crow on display , will i have to register that !!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Better check 😝
Or an oven ready chicken?
It’s about control, best to ignore and keep quiet. The chicken police will be overwhelmed.
If tv licence inspectors can harass you for just having a tv and POTENTIALLY being able to commit a crime, does this mean that Bird Licence Inspectors will be able to check for EGGS?
I used to have Rhode Island Reds, haven’t had any for about 10 years but if I did I wouldn’t be telling them anything..
Not budgies! There have been lots of untruthful stories circulating about this.
Only birds that fly free like gamebirds, those that are traditionally kept as farmyard stock, raptors used for flying demonstrations
pigeons etc.
What does Avian Flu look like ?
Does it kill birds ?
Here in Portugal only commercial poultry places need to register, everyone has the right to keep own birds or grow own garden, though the powers that be did reduce the numbers of birds which can be kept without registration.
Thank you for your comment. Not as bad but still tighten that knot… Hope your freedom remains…
Here in Portugal , we have to register our cats , dogs , goats , sheep , and pay taxes on them (it is not very much tho)
@dennisvanloock5728 hardly anyone does though, except dogs and horses or commercial establishments
Wow that’s quite interesting and worrying…
Interesting though
Bird Flue cull register.
Just that. And it is not the first time. 2021 saw ALL bird keepers being obliged to declare all their birds to DEFERA. But that was another time.
Look out - thanks for the comment
When the government tells you to register your chicken, it’s an indication that you should have already started breeding and growing your own food.
Notice that the government, don't give us the real reason behind this.
I can imagine the dystopian water holes selling half litres of grog in the future.
That one old guy in the corner. "I remember Chickens and eggs youd get them for a dozen or arrf a dozen"

😂😂😂 will I have to register my pet snail 😂 it's taking the piss
Thanks for your comment - you never know
Do not comply.
Thanks for the comment
Food control!!! 😢
I don't own my chickens! They chose to live with me and are free to come and go as they please. Does this mean that they have to register me?
joe salton wrote a good book on natural farming
If you're interested, research "Ross 708", "Cobb" and "ISA" with the word "poultry", "broilers" or "chickens".
The corporations behind the breeding of meat and egg producing birds will not admit that in their quest for high volume efficient production, they failed to also improve disease resistance.
So a home bred or sustainably managed farm will always have birds that have similar disease resistance to wild populations.
Wild bred, genetically diverse species will always outlive "clones" (very little genetic variance poultry).
It's already happening with bananas. The original banana is already extinct.
No i wont conform.i am getting 2quail who the hell do they think they are.i wont pay a fine so it looks like im going to prison.
@@Martin-g9o7s thanks for the comment Martin. I really like quails - lovely little birds :)
Do I need to register my stuffed parrot? LOL.
We’re all registered at the doctors but did that stop covid, it’s another form of tax , people making protein for their families need to be taxed ..
Thanks for your comment true true
I would, much rather pay more money for a pasture raised organic well fed chicken that is genuinely healthy to consume and what people dont do anymore is make their stock etc to get full use from the bones and that’s another healthy meal. We pay the money for the better ones because if that.
@@Diane739 good for you, thank you for your comment

How is the shooting estates going to manage this ..

Bravo! Thanks for the comment
I dont even fill out the government conscensus - 😜
Totally agree
The new rules cover owners of backyard flocks, birds of prey and pigeon fanciers, but do not affect caged pet birds (excluding any poultry species) kept entirely inside a domestic dwelling, such as a parrot, canary or budgie, which never leaves the property other than to visit a vet or another short-term period.
I have half a chicken in the kitchen, I will let then know.
@@spritzpistol thank you for your comment
My chicken identifies as a dog , do I need a dog license or a chicken licence? 😂
Some people will be keeping chickens because the don't have money. They are the people that will end up in a slammer. Granny keeps a chicken? IN THE SLAMMER. Rupert got a budgie? IN THE SLAMMER! It's like witch trials. Keeping chickens is the new witchcraft.
True…. Thanks for the comment
What about all the wild birds that fly in and out of garden,

They want the people to do their dirty work for them, by filling out the forms, they can only do it if you let them, us the people.
