I like the perimeter brake on my Buell. I heard from sport bike riders "oh one rotor. I have seen enough". I think the super cruiser looks like a honda rebel. I don't want something that looks like a Rebel. I thought Nascar was involved with the Buell engine heads when it went from 1125 to 1190. I am thinking about the Super Touring to replace my Ulysses. But want to ride one first. No perimeter brake would make a difference. When I can get 2 adv bikes for the price of one Buell. At least they aren't super expensive like Motus MST.
Very interesting, thanks for the info. No matter the price I don't think I would buy on the first or the second year. But then I wouldn't buy one in the fifth year, not my thing.
Sounds a bit expensive unless you consider that EBR's were up in the $40,000.00 range it seems I recall. They really need to stick with the single outside Disc Brake.. My 2008 Buell Ulyesses has Chinese wheels on it .. A rear wheel bearing failed at 18,000 miles.. I found out that Buell upgraded to 3 larger wheel bearings instead of two smaller wheel bearings in 2009 or 2010 .. Buell did not stop Production in late 2009 when HD announced the Closing. I think they kept building more bikes from available parts through 2010.
The farther removed from the Buell lineage the bike will create its own identity. We’re at this point with the Super Cruiser. New frame, a modified Helicon derived power plant, bolt on parts from the warehouse parts bin that could be interchangeable with your favorite after market brand.
Where did you get the info that they eliminated the dual injector system? Not sure why they plan on ditching the perimeter brake, even if the performance is not quite up to par as a dual setup (only relevant during track days).
During my interview with a Buell engineer, the information is disclosed at timestamp 6:50 of this video ruclips.net/video/TNyFvaAGiz0/видео.htmlsi=s0BKNGL9zgpmN5zS
@@KennyQuestShow Appreciate that! Also, in case you were curious I just got confirmation from a Buell rep that the move to dual disc is to keep up with global export requirements.
The conventional dual disc systems allows them to very easily integrate a wheel speed sensor for ABS. ZTL actually created many more problems than it solved and was never embraced by the industry.
I'm probably their biggest fan, but I'm so over not having an idea of how the engines will be manufacted. From my understanding all their prototypes utilize leftover parts recieved from the purchase of the company. It's extremely easy to fuck this all up. I also live in Oregon and ABS is a must on consistently rainy oily roads (it's literally like ice). I'm at the point of just buying a GSX-S1000GT for a superbike touring bike. I don't want to stress. It's also $12,000 cheaper 😢
Oh that 1000GT is nice. I also like the V100 Mandelo from Guzzi. But yeah Bill Melvin Jr. CEO is a liquidation specialist not a manufacturer so I’m sure he’s leaning on past documents like purchase orders and potentially former employees to navigate this.
@KennyQuestShow I joined a FB group for the V100 and it's jam packed with significant issues. Like broken off exhausts, head gasket leaks, coolant hose clamps that can't be reached, snapping rear shock recall, leaking drive hub seals, rocker arm rods coming undone, starter falling apart in the engines, and then there's the whole fact that Moto Guzzi doesn't like paying for warranty work and the shops are overwhelmed making it a 6mon process for a fix. It's a horror story. The most I saw with the GSX-S1000GT was a noisy timing chain with a cruddy auto tensioner, and cruise control activation. But customers bring their bikes in, a few days goes by, and their bike is good forever. That Suzuki is literally the only option currently for having your cake and eating it too. Sorry for the long reply haha
Allow me to explain something. When adding a front rotor & caliper to the front. That’s not taking away from your value. That’s adding to your value & trust me better stopping is what you want.
Allow me to explain that in this case 2 doesn’t mean better than 1. It’s different technology. According to published documents and interviews the perimeter is designed to work better than dual disc on bumpy roads, allows for lighter wheels. But perhaps the new regime is right, it’s too complicated, nobody cares, 2 is better than 1.
@KennyQuestShow that is true. If there was a place to have it, it was on the super cruiser and not the high performance models. Still tho, I know a few buell owners and the front brake is always a complaint lol
Not sure how tall you are but the only thing I really hate about my sportster is at 6’ tall I am cramped. I will probably stretch my sportster in the future to be honest.
6ft. I adjusted the foot controls slightly, for longer rides I have a bung king highway bar to stretch out on. Less cramped on it than all the current mid control softails.
Fox was announced formally as the suspension partner. My texts with Buell confirmed a traditional duel rotar set up will be used on the V3 production prototype to debut at Bike week 2025
I can't justify the Price of any New Harley other than maybe the Pan American. If you want a heavy Low Performance air cooled bike with a nice Paint Job, then you are buying mostly for prestige.
@@KennyQuestShowThey tried that with the V-Rod but all the Harley “purists” were still against the fact that it was Porsche design liquid cooled motor. The problem with Harley is their consumers, boomers who are afraid of change and technology.
@@JAyy781 ironically Eric Buell was on the team started that project and inspired him to go water cooled for his next Buell engine, which ended up happening in 2007 in the Rotax collab.
That’s probably a great decision. The super cruiser is definitely not best choice for first bike. It’s going to eat Harleys and $hit scouts but I’m pretty sure there is going to plenty of new leather and Super Cruisers coming to extremely sudden stops.
@@BangChief_AllIsOne omg the widowmaker! And you’re still alive!? Get the Super Cruiser! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! You really wanna tell your grandkids how you almost got the motorcycle that revolutionized the cruiser industry?!😂👍
Great video on the buell. I was talking to Pedro and he said yeah they may not be all that they said they would be. Go watch Kenny’s video. How dare you pull all that out of it. To me it isn’t the super cruiser then. We could take many other platforms and do exactly what they have done.
That’s what I alluded to, to some 75% of the Super Cruiser performance is good enough, others more or less. For naked bikes it’s easier their SX is ready at $18,999.90 comparable to a KTM super duke 1290 RR. For cruisers you can build a nice bike off a HD or Indian for same money and have the cool parts to show for it.
I think there has been some misleading promotion like noted. Buell 2024 is not Buell 2008. They’re trying to get the Harley crowd appeased and saying that they’re making changes from feedback shows who they wanted input from. $50 lost, also as noted in the video.
They are certainly targeting the only market Buell feels will appreciate this bike, the cruiser sport rider/ hooligan. The only consumer basis they know of are owners or fans of the dyna/fxr and M8 platform low rider S. It’s a niche of a niche.
I recently got an email from them asking for the 1000 dollars down to hold my super cruiser i asked for a list of specs, parts manufacturers, heres the reply i received We are currently working on finalizing Super Cruiser details, and will be sure to update everyone as soon as possible!!!
Chris not correcting you on the engine is a giant red flag imo, even if he only has 6 months experience. Regardless, the price they’re asking vs what you get is wildly out of proportion.
Let's be realistic, they are a very small motorcycle company that makes hand made bikes by order for the most part. They designed and built a bike from scratch to compete with much bigger companies so yah, it's not going to be cheap lol the price is very competitive for other muscle cruisers.
Got an 1125CR and I wouldn’t trade it for the world despite all its oddities. That said the new Buell seems like they don’t understand what made people follow the original company when it came to their bikes, as it stands now the 1190sx is the only model they have that’s even slightly appealing but I could turn around an buy a superduke for a bit more and have a much larger dealer network and electronic aids
@@KennyQuestShow I think they saw how popular the harley hooliganism has become and wanted to quickly cash in on it which is why they announced it so early in development
@@lukejohnson3612I can see that. But outside of a handful of DIY dyna stunt riders will there be enough buyers to sustain the company yet alone the model?
@@KennyQuestShow Unfortunately I don’t think so at the new price point. They should’ve made a smaller engine at 100ish horsepower in a sportbike and naked and move in on the middleweight sales that the R7 has been dominating
The power to weight, brakes and suspension is worth the 6k more than a low rider s. In order to get a low rider s near that power to weight you would have to spend 15k (parts plus installation)
Which could appeal to a small group of folks out there. Perhaps a current owner of a FXLRS. A ‘22 FXLRS can be had for $18k, plus the $15k you calculated that could be appealing. When the EL Diablo came out some folks were paying $33k out the door.
Stands to reason that if you’re still not droolin and hyped at this point this bike is not a life changing ride. So yeah look at what is available now.
Yeah I think the bike looks and sounds cool, but I’ll take an M8, I’ll be able to get cams, exhaust, and any other bits that will make the bike reliable, and PLENTY fast for street use, at those power levels I’d just rather have a Japanese super sport, I just really don’t see the point, especially at that price!
if anything they should have done dual perimeter brakes no the same ol BS... You realize the exhaust and signals need to pass DOT and a SHIT TON of other countries safety BS.. and you can buy cute little LED signals anywhere... I'd be willing to bet that exhaust will be on the market as soon as the bike is..
They get a pass on the exhaust like everyone does. But you add up the bs parts that look like what you’d find on a Yamaha then do the math to replace and your better off buying their motor and frame and building your own
Noted! There are modes and traction control settings programmed into the ECM. I was told by the engineer they don’t have budget to hire a coder to reprogram the ECM.
I replaced the controls and dropped them slightly, adding a bung king highway bar helps stretch out on longer rides. The result is better than a stock FXLRS set up. So no complaints at 6ft.
@@KennyQuestShow About a $8,900 price gap for 50 hp. These two would be interesting comparison as I would consider these the first "performance cruiser" these two companies (Buell and HD) have ever made
I've heard the perimeter rotor tends to not last as long a dual rotor set up. I would prefer the single perimeter brake as long as a replacement rotor is reasonably priced
lol, that exhaust is horrid. If i just had to swap out the exhaust and a couple other accessories to be where the concept bike is, this would be a super cruiser. But it’s going to require a whole lot more.
This viideo is about the value you get for the investment. If the bike was being offered for $20K, as much as a KTM Duke GT, I'd agree there's room left for upgrades and mods, but what is being shown will require $5-8k min of mods, possibly $10k with labor costs. This still wouldn't be the RSD bike, that would require alot more iinvestment. I'd prefer a more fully baked ride for $26K, or at least the only upgrades to remain would be the usuals..exhaust, grips, seat and tail tidy. Thanks for commentiing,
Very rare for a prototype bike/car to be remotely identical to a production model. Buell did a good job (so far) with keeping as original to the prototype as possible IMO
I'm all for buell getting rid of fuel in frame but the perimeter brakes is their staple and should be kept also for the super cruiser that exhaust is awful that that new radiator looks nowhere near as good as the aluminum one
Erik Buell has also stated the benefit of the perimeter rotor is performance on bumpy roads. It’s very iconic. Version 3 of the production sample bike will arrive in January. Buell has said the raw finish radiator will return.
@@KennyQuestShow I hope that is true. The super cruiser has the opportunity to be the only sporty cruiser on the market besides the new scout 101 some what
If they dropped the Ohlins suspension and the iconic front rotor I'm out. Also went with generic exhaust and turn signals. I was extremely interested in this bike but now it's just like a Japanese, German, Italian bike and probably not as good.👎🙄

@@mcnuggetapplethey technically already do, the Pan America is eligible for up to $8k discount (2023 models) from dealer stock, add a couple engine mods and a tune and you’re right there for under $20k.
@ that can be remedied. Not sure if you’ve been following some of the custom Pan AM builds or the new AMA hooligan race series but these are conversions that change the bike from sport touring or adventure riding to super moto / naked street bike style. You can pick up a 2023 in industrial yellow for $13k (using HD’s 8k rebate) change wheels, perform engine mods, add exhaust, change seat, wrap or paint the air box and be at or under $10k. OR Using the same engine with less body mods and some engine work you could get a Sportster S to 150hp. Also, Trask is developing a Turbo kit for the RH models. That will be interesting as that requires little engine modification. We’re entering a period where HP will be cheaper per HP gained.

The novelty engineering coupled with the V-Twin power made for a super fun and really good handling bike. You gotta appreciate it for what it was. Now I ride Austrian equipment that would decimate the Buells and handle amazingly but, I still miss those quirky Buell turds.

The Super Cruiser is a joke. H-D will make a touring framed sportier bike like the original FXR touring. They already have the parts between the Road King and Low Rider ST. The touring frames have similar if not exact swing arm geometry as the original FXR, and can handle the unbalanced larger motors like the 121 and 135 crate motor. If the potential H-D comes out around $25,000 it’s over for Buell. It’s funny one of the key optical style points of this Buell is the triangulated frame, which of course Erik Buell helped develop when he was at H-D for the FXR. I’m sure H-D has been watching.
Great, that Super Cruiser looks shit - a mish mash of parts that don't go together - their old sports bike 1125/1190 swingarm, wheels and forks, a horrible looking frame, resulting in a horrible profile. Looks like a cheap chinese bike.

Also, how long have you worked for Buell? So your saying the Super Cruiser provides a better return on your money than a FXLRS or a Indian Super Chief? How about a Super Duke 1290 RR

If it rocks your boat than you should!
Pompous and wrong. Congrats.
The single brake setup is not better then the traditional design. I'm not surprised to see them finally letting go of that gimmick
Gimmicky and more expensive. It’s not a super bike and track focused like thier hammerhead super bike.
@KennyQuestShow that is true. If there was a place to have it, it was on the super cruiser and not the high performance models. Still tho, I know a few buell owners and the front brake is always a complaint lol

I can't justify the Price of any New Harley other than maybe the Pan American. If you want a heavy Low Performance air cooled bike with a nice Paint Job, then you are buying mostly for prestige.
Pan AM is a fun bike to ride, perfect for the Harley enthusiast who doesn’t want to buy another brand to get liquid cooled higher revving performance.
@@KennyQuestShowThey tried that with the V-Rod but all the Harley “purists” were still against the fact that it was Porsche design liquid cooled motor. The problem with Harley is their consumers, boomers who are afraid of change and technology.

As minor as it may seem to some, I have a feeling the lack of a perimeter front brake is going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
I agree.
The perimeter break being dropped is the biggest plus that was a terrible breaking system and a massive liability

Let's be realistic, they are a very small motorcycle company that makes hand made bikes by order for the most part. They designed and built a bike from scratch to compete with much bigger companies so yah, it's not going to be cheap lol the price is very competitive for other muscle cruisers.
@@jonnymac8925 I don’t know if I agree with them being a “very small motorcycle company”, but I see what you’re saying.

It looks better than the Buell, too (IMO)
It’s missing 50 HP
I'm thinking 15 grand would be a fair price

What did you do to drop 30lbs from the sporty?
Most of the drop was from the removal of the stock exhaust. Changed foot control brackets to death metal racing shed 2lbs each, deleted guards.
We all knew it was too good to be true
Everyone likes an underdog
The power to weight, brakes and suspension is worth the 6k more than a low rider s. In order to get a low rider s near that power to weight you would have to spend 15k (parts plus installation)
Which could appeal to a small group of folks out there. Perhaps a current owner of a FXLRS. A ‘22 FXLRS can be had for $18k, plus the $15k you calculated that could be appealing. When the EL Diablo came out some folks were paying $33k out the door.
I have given up on waiting for this. Guess it's going to be a new Indian or Harley

Also, have you seen any of my last several Harley videos? They don’t want to partner with me. if someone else’s opinion causes you discomfort then yes please go away, go far away. ✌🏼
