    Bangladeshi here. I really don't care much about the T20 leagues around the world but I watch highlights packages of the matches often. Obviously there's the IPL. I do watch the Big Bash at times. Used to watch a bit of PSL and before that CPL as well but nowadays not as much. But the difference between these and the hundred is that I don't think there's broadcast of the Hundred in Bangladesh. Even if there is, they are doing a piss poor job of marketing and advertisement. I don't think close to anyone even know what the Hundred is in Bangladesh. And we are one of the biggest markets in cricket in terms of sheer numbers. I mean there are kids here who watch the T10, love it and don't know about the Hundred. Even a cricket nerd like myself had to look up the rules online and I don't understand much of it cause I haven't watched a full match ever. So, from my perspective at least, it is nonexistent. I think, the people who do care about it only do so cause the English players are pretty good at T20s at the moment. Take that away and it'll not sustain in my opinion. Like, I hear from these brits about this competition as if it is the thing that's gonna overtake the IPL when most of the cricketing world don't even know about it. And the ones that do, most of them don't even care.

    The biggest problem isn't that there are more games or more formats. The biggest problem is it's so expensive to even cone to the stadiums to watch these games or even play it anywhere. Firstly, the kit is expensive, it has to be decreased a lot to make it feasible to play, that may be done too but playing it in grounds by booking them is so expensive and you can't do it every weekend atleast and then you lose interest. And most importantly, the main number of people who want watch and enjoy sport are hard working middle class and lower middle class people which would come in if you decrease the prices of these tickets. Look at how expensive Ind vs Pak and Ind Vs Ire tickets were in the US? In the US where you want to promote the game?! These stands are not empty because of less number of people interested in it, they are empty because people can't afford it and everyone is looking to make huge bucks from this.

The best part of the Hundred is the lower ticket prices, free BBC streaming and the women’s tournament being parallel. Keep all of that - just change this to private ownership and t20 format

    Basically the 100 is ECB's version of IPL... atleast they wished it to become as big if not bigger. But it just seems way too complicated from the outsets. My opinion on that will be to merge that with T20 blast and create a common playing field for the franchises as well as the clubs. It'll benifit both parties and also develop hardcore fanbase from regional premises imo

    • @rangergaming8316
      @rangergaming8316 3 месяца назад

      Yeah, merge with the Blast but the Blast should be the one that remains. They could just make it so that 49% of the T20 team of the county is being sold to private investment and other teams are still fully owned and controlled by the county. They're doing the same with the Hundred except over there they have new teams for no reason.

  • @distortedsoul27
    @distortedsoul27 20 дней назад

    All it's done is shoehorn in a competition that wasn't needed, purely as a reaction out of panic for a lack of looking after County Cricket.
    As an Australian, I could see it from here that county cricket wasn't being managed at all. In saying that, the Sheffield Shield isn't what it should/could be either. The Shield teams had to rebrand themselves to attract more of an audience with names such as Redbacks, Bulls, Warriors, Tigers, and so on.

      Money. The ECB wanted something they owned - having failed to ‘copyright’ T20 - so that the money goes straight to them rather than to the counties (as is the case withT20). They can then sell shares in the individual teams to outside investors. The original idea was to licence the whole thing to other countries but there have been no takers as T20 is the globally accepted shorter form of the game.

    english fans are too close to it so they can't see the problem. as an india fan in england, here's the problem. you have the blast and the hundred, and then you have your tests. it dilutes everything. doesn't help either of the t20 events cut through the clutter. find a way to merge the blast and the hundred. maybe that's hard, but do it and it will be an incredible result. it's common sense really. also as an overseas fan, we respect the counties. there's some brand value there.

    Aussie Cricket fan here, mid 40s, been watching the sport my whole life, played a bit too, as has every Aussie bloke, at least over 30, ever........do not like IPL, know it... do not watch it.... too Hollywood.... or I guess Bollywood....with all the spectacle, and dancers and fireworks and rock soundtracks at stadiums, theme songs, and assorted BS seemingly lifted right from the US Franchise Pro League Sport playbook. Too much... tamasha? Is that the word.... yeah, sorry, sickens me in fact, and has no place in Cricket, I do not want to forced to cringe for half an hour before every match.... this is Cricket, we all know the MATCHES can do that to you all too often as it is. But I know it, obviously, the IPL, it has some standing in my world.... as evidenced by my strong opinion on it.
    That is why I like the BBL.... T20 is good, but not the best Cricket, just is not. Not to me. Red Ball beats White Ball, and ODI is the White Ball game of choice for me, by far. But I like the BBL. It is to me almost as good as the IPL... but with less BS, and more self awareness that it is basically glorified Backyard Cricket. It's professional and good quality though, well above all other T20 leagues save the IPL imho.... and again, you can see that it has a place in my world, by another controversial, but strong opinion.
    I am not as sure about the CPL and SA20. I watched Highlights, because I could not find full games, and did not know where to watch it in Australia. Pretty OK though... I think the CPL has an edge, the one place T20 might get a pass from me is the Windies, as it might make up for all the neglect and get them back in to Cricket, let them rebuild, and come to care about their ODI and TEST game too.
    What did surprise me and I enjoyed, was many of the MLC games in the US. Watched them after the season, on RUclips... or Vemo? Meh, who cares... the final, I loved that game, and the names, it was legit a series and I enjoyed it more because I want to see North America embrace Cricket, and this might have killed it, had it been a bummer series.
    I even know about the Blast... IDGAF about it... and cannot tell you much more than a number of poms I know mock it even more than I.
    But you know what I have never heard of?
    The 100.
    I have been watching Cricket around the world as possible for four decades, and I still have not worked out what the 100 is, even from this... and give so few f*cks that I will not even bother looking it up after I post this.
    I think that is what most fans outside of England think about it.

      ....and that's what HATE the most about American sports.
      Neither AFL nor NRL here in Australia have such, and they are the only pro sports leagues here which matter, and fortunately, the BBL is avoiding going full Hollywood/Bollywood too.
      The team owners don't matter, the team songs are meaningless, big spectacles at matches contribute nothing....Cricket is about the teams, the match, and the game itself.
      It stands on those alone perfectly fine, all the razzle dazzle of the IPL just males me cringe, sorry.

    9 million in losses in the the first two seasons-I think it will be gone pretty quick as well. It is the same as I thought in 2003 when they did the first T20 on UK television-they will do what they did with 50 overs-over-saturate it & tun it into the ground/dumb down the sport & that is what has happened. T20 has destroyed techniques to where most tests end in 3 days-why do test matches have to be played like T20 games? What is the point of having three different formats if you play them all the same way? The hundred is as pointless as the super sub silliness back in the mid-late 2000's.

    The 100 is a total and utter waste of time. Have never watched it and never will. The T20 Blast is fine. The ECB should have simply done more to promote what they already had.

    I completely disagree, my brother and mum would never come and watch a day at the test but the hundred format just takes down a couple of barriers of entry eg understanding overs and encourages casual fans to come

    The game can be sped up easily by making the DRS solely in the hands of the third umpire-it was promised to rule out the howlers-instead it is used by clueless captains to challenge marginal decisions. It also needs to be redesigned-why do we have to sit through several minutes of rolling the footage back & forwards to see if a batsman hit a ball, only then to roll on & see it pitched outside leg stump? I was once told the reason is it is set that way & you cannot change it. I don't believe we put men on the moon in 1969 when people were watching it on black & white televisions & yet in 2024 they cannot switch the order around!

    I see it as a gimmick same as t10, cricket doesnt need another format. I may sound like the cynicals that rejected t20 early on. however, reducing 20 balls seems like a t20 with dls in place

    I genuinely don't like and watch" Hundred " I mean the game's already shortened to T20 now for gosh sake y would u introduce Hundred? 1:26 this gentleman gave a perfect example of how we as a foreign audience think of "the Hundred " btw I think the ECB has to make easy access to cricket match such as giving free pass to elder citizens and (particularly) young children (age 6-10) this would promote more children exposure to the sport and naturally gain interest to it and also these kid's not going to stadium alone right? They gotta bring adults with them 😹, these are few examples what ECB needs to work on rather than perfecting the cricket why not find solution? And i think the easy access to the sport would be a great beginning?🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hundred just exists for the sake of it. Instead of making a new format they should have stick with T20 format.
    A new format just complicated an already complicated game.😂
    MLC is gonna be a bigger brand than the Hundred in next 5 years and they are gonna take more players to the US.
    The cricket schedule in England is a f*cked up puzzle which a normal fan of the game wouldn't want to stick their head into.
    Unnecessarily complicating the game wouldn't help you achieve the long term goal.

    The best players in the world are 90% Indian. Indians only play IPL, so all franchise league apart from IPL are substandard and mediocre. This is the truth but they obviously can't say that, they cannot stomach the fact that Indian Cricketers are on a different level to the rest of the world.

    100 is a stupid format , if u r playing 16 overs , you may as well play 20 overs .
    On a different topic , stop all ODI bilateral series and convert them to Tri Nation or Four nation series followed by the world cu like olden days. Thats only way to keep ODI intrest alive. Sadly despite being a great fan of ODI they need to phase out ODI over next 5 to 6 years. Age of ODI is over.
