That will make a sweet bike ! I've seen that color on a corvette I think . this is cool since I am starting a build project on my norco bigfoot that I purchased new in 1994, just about everything stock sucked on that bike so only the frame will stay stock besides a color change. In 98 I installed a complete XT groupset which still works great so that will stay as well. Wish I had your CAAD 3 to work on though !
Nice one Dany, looking forward to seeing this one play out... I have a thought about how you could approach the area where it has that kink/dent in the frame... as it is such a lovely colour and in such great condition.... I would match the gold decals and mask that area off, adding some kind of racing stripe that wraps the top tube... basically it would look like a chunky gold ring.... possibly slant it at an angle... for a "racey" look so it looks more like it was meant to be there, depends on what look you are happy with really.... maybe try out a few ideas with some paper cut to size and shape and stuck to the tube, or even use some electrical tape, it will hep you visualise what it would look like once it is done and whether you would be happy with it. Make a feature of that area rather than hiding it under a total respray. I think I would go with this option... as apart from that one relatively small area, the frame looks fresh...and it would be a shame to have to respray the whole thing just because of that.... anyway, something worth considering don't you think?
I am brand new to road cycling. I was given a Cannondale R600 CAAD 3 by my cousin. It needs new handle bars and has a quill stem. It has a coda slice echelon carbon fork. Can I use this exact set up for the bars and stem? Again I am GREEN as can be and have zero experience in this field. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ELIW5
Yes a 105 will fit that frameset. I believe stock runs a Shimano RSX Groupset, which I currently run on my 95' Cannondale R400. My Cassette is a 9 speed. So for 105 you will have to get an 11 speed Cassette.(I think)
1996 Cannondale SR500 rebuild 2 yrs ago with major parts being retro upgrades from same year's aftermarket offerings. Could you post a link to a view of the finished or in progress bike.?
I have a caad 3 I have just rebuilt with 11speed 105 and an aksium wheelset. The frame has some corrosion under the paintwork which I'm not sure can be fixed?
@Evan Carroll your aksium wheels should be compatible with an 11 speed cassette. I bought the 105 groupset from a local bike shop and they swapped it all over for me. The frame is yellow and red but I've since swapped it for a Genesis Equilibrium steel frame with more comfortable geometry.
Mine an R900Si CAAD 5 is a nice road bike, albeit, on the left seat stay there is a small ding...probably at the bike shop as the paint is not scratched. How can I pull it?
I want to know what's the difference with between the R series. My Cannondale is a 95' R400. But it doesn't have a CAAD badge. But it is a CAAD frame. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.
Hi, I have a Cannondale super V 1000 . I want to rebuild its suspensions ( dd50 headshock and fox alps 4 ), However, I havent found the replacement parts . Please could you tell me Where I could find them ?
Help!! lol.. I got a caad3 2007 f1000 frame.. has the round wishbone seatstays with the single mars bar shaped block connecting them to the seat tube.. anyone who has had these frames..can you squeeze 27.5's into her?, Low profile tyres for city riding and some mega lube?.. got all the light weight gubbins..but as a city bike.. bigger wheels on low profile tyres..?...think they'll fit? You'll only know if you know these frames tbh.
That's a bummer. I'll just stick to my first plan which is to build it up with all the parts that's on the latest EVO and adding a stages power meter since the hollowgram si spider crank looks amazing.
Nice topic. Please don't use a fisheye lens when you are trying to show frame shape.
Man I would love that frame. Great color
I have a dent like that on my Klein road bike's down tube but so far it hasn't caused any issues in over a year.

+HOPKIRK Great suggestion, I would really like to keep the original paint.
Alloy Cannondale rules!
I just got done building a CAAD3 !!!

Cool video. I have a caad3 R600, would a new 105 group set fit in my frame? thanks.

I was running a sram cassette with a campag groupset before swapping to 105 and that worked ok.
I love my cannondale CAD3 F900 from 1997
I hope you didn't sell them, as I did with my F900 Sl...
Brave project is going ahead :)
+Wojciech Stępkowski Or rather I'm behind my projects ;)
I now have this bike (Caad4 model). Where is the finished product video?
Someone bought it from me...
For paint-2014? Chevy Sonic is close, try Duplicolor
+d aach Thanks!
rj advice is to use this rolling technik only on steel frames!!!!!
+George Petsis Oh, didn't he mention both materials??

is this frame for 650c wheels?
I have a 1980s moser that I want to cold set.
+jrocthadino Oh, RJ The Bike Guy just bought one :)
Recently picked up a 2002 r900si which I want to gut and build up. I want to get an electric groupset is that possible?
Wiring can be kind of problematic.

where is the link to the video you fix the big dent? thanks
