Some of the most fun I had during my earlier career in film making...working on models and sets that got blown to pieces.

I used to watch a short version of this show in Brazilian tv about twenty years ago. It impressed me too much because I'm fascinated by vfx. Every single day I was in front of TV to watch it. I didn’t expect to find the original version that show, but I did and it brought to me all those good memories.

Brian Johnson, spfx supervisor on Space 1999 in the early 70s was the first to explore the zero g explosion effect. That’s a fact, as the series was produced before Star Wars. Lucas wanted Johnson to do the spfx on Star Wars, but Johnson had already signed on to do another season of 1999. Brian worked on Empire and won an academy award. I feel strongly about artists being correctly recognized for their contributions.

These guys have all my respect and admiration. They really did the real art of movies. All they had were creativity and real things to change in tools to achieve what they needed. Nothing of the pot of sh-/:it of cgi we have ruining movies today. Thanks, guys!

This stuff is almost a lost art. Is it just me or does Thane look and sound a bit like a young Wilford Brimley? I expect him to say "dye-uh-beet-us" any minute now.

It always hurts that someone makes all these beautiful miniatures just for them to be blown up.
