I brought the T4. God damn was it was it difficult trying to get a lead with guns, because firing missiles was more useless than throwing a paper ball at them.

I didn't even realise that not engaging was an option the first time around
Squaring off with 8 very capable aircraft in nothing but a frogfoot was terrifying in the best way

2:25 is legitimately one of the most genius applications of music design in gaming, the main theme comes in to add a bit of defiance and heroism, but you'll only get to hear that part in game if you have stuck around long enough and chosen to fight.
And it comes when Crimson 5 says "Crimson 1, are you seeing what i'm seeing?" It comes right when Crimson squadron starts to fear you
It's like Proof Of A Hero from Monster Hunter! You could feel like you're doing jack shit, but as soon as it kicks in, you could solo anything.
The irony for me is, I could never run. I had to fight to survive

i felt so awesome dogfighting defiantly even if i didnt get to kill them, i ran out of ammo quickly and just kept running them around the lava trying to cause a crash
With the intro it really feels like you are "invited" to dance over a volcano, regardless you wanted or not.
the foreshadowing is strong with this one
I love how this sounds like Kings but more heroic. Really makes you vibe when you're in the final battle and the soundtrack is full-on menacing.
I told my friend before they start mission 6 “only stubborn pilots fail this mission” he got in and after blasting the ground in the sk-25, he asked how anyone could fail this mission

Pov me crashing and become one with the ground even before crimson squadron shows up:
I remember when this fight started, was ready to fight then the boys said nah I'm out. The mission said run. The beat dropped and all confidence suddenly left my body. I even tried to turn and fight a little and they just dodged like it was nothing, did not help me at all. It was a hell of a moment.
I made the mistake of doing this mission in the SK.25 the first time, because I had no idea what was going to happen; I was sweating the entire run out dumping every flare I had on me, it was terrifying.

The intro A plus the "Crimson" name showing on the screen gives you a "Ohhhhh... shit" moment the first time you engage them.
The intros really build up the tension, like you're about to meet something ominous and dangerous. As always the soundtrack is amazing, thank you for uploading it!

Aha, so this would explain why the fan-made videos are gone. Very pleased to see an official release, the intros really add a lot of awesome tension to the song.

2:25 Note that this part sounds like Kings in a defiant and heroic matter. It literally showcases Crimson 1's frustration at Monarch for trying to steal his crown.

1:31 absolutely love this part, because in comparison to Ace Combat, Project Wingman is very punishing and tough, and this part really makes you feel the pressure in that first fight with Peacekeepers, if you choose to engage them. Flaring in the wrong spot or stopping pulling can mean getting killed, and the timestamp always kicked in when i was pulling and seeking for a moment to shoot (i was replaying this mission with Tomcat a lot of times to score a kill on Crimson lol)
Especially with the Giant words *DO NOT ENGAGE* Floating over your screen

The intro adds another level of tension. Seriously, it just makes it more epic with this one intro.

1:20 feels like a circus if they're beating the hell out of you and evading all your missiles , but in another way feels like an intro for a king if you start slaughtering them

You after complete camping and gotta go this mission BUT WITH PW1 THIS TIME: Game was rigged from the start boi
My goodness, that build up at the start is like seeing a squadron of death approaching. Coupled with the [[ENGAGEMENT NOT ADVISED]] in game, it really hits the nail
I remember my first time playing this mission. I was in a call with my friends on discord. We were just chatting and stuff. I was saying how easy this mission was as soon as the music started. I audibly said "oh shit" as I turned to try and fight. My friends asked what happened. I couldn't answer I and eventually just turned and ran. This soundtrack fully encapsulates that feeling the buildup gets you hyped like "oh yeah time to take down another squadron" then the actual song hits and you lose that feeling, your facing true aces. Crosstalk has a little bit of this but crimson does to a extreme.
Peacekeeper I is my favorite track from the album.
Now time for the B intro!
The vertical pipes at 2:25 alongside the cellos really help create an atmosphere of death, and that if you screw up its game over. Really awesome work!

I genuinely thought I might have to retreat because I ran out of hism, stdm, and had only 600 ammo left in my gun, not to mention that I had only damaged 1 of the vx-23s, then learned that you only have to get one to critical health
Me, a wild dog who brought gun pods: *I'M NOT FOLLOWING THE DAMN SCRIPT CRIMSON*
When everyone ran I tried to stay and fight peacekeepers.
I thought it'd be fine, there was only 6 of them and I've shot like 50 planes so far.
Then 1:51 hit and I watched the peacekeeper I was tailing stall his engine , do a 110 degree turn and zoom off before my STDMs connected.
My smile dropped as I felt like a clown with that music in the background.

Just finished mercenary amd all other difficulty and I remember replaying this mission that I use cheats sk 25 instead which turns out to be the horrible idea.
I really wish that opening guitar went on longer, its so so so good
Prez becomes real and your wife if you take down a Peacekeeper plane with a SK.25 on Mercenary difficulty.

I still vividly remember when I first faced Peacekeeper squadron. I was flying an attack plane (can't remember the name for the life of me, but it wasn't suited for dogfighting at all), and dumbass me decided to just go with it, when the rest of my squad just peaced out, I stayed back, and somehow managed to fend them off. And after taking out one of their own, even with that AoA limiter Belkan magic bullcrap, I felt so fucking powerful.
This doesn't sound like music for a game about planes, this sounds like the boss music for a multiphase JRPG antagonist.
Which, tbf, Crimson 1 kinda is.

I still go back to machine of the mantle, specifically for this encounter. I put more and more modifiers on, more limitations on myself, every time. Nothing quite gets the adrenaline flowing like the first fight with Crimson Squadron.

There's something glorious about going in with an F/D-14 to attack the schizophrenia squadron and getting so much into it that my sister has to remind me that I still had 85% (fuck cordium damage) while the VX-23 that I am engaging is at one machine gun hit from dying.

God I remember doing this mission when I was trying to do the mercenary playthrough to get the achievement. I accidentally and unknowingly had double time on which spawns twice as many enemies so this fight kicked my ass
