my heart goes out to all miners and their families, only they know the dangers and the pain it takes to endure such a loss, alas my views are mining companies are not always upfront when telling of safety checks etc .... the following link ruclips.net/video/sY_u6O_afGc/видео.html is my modest memorial when Scotlands miners were according to reports let down by mine owners and lost their lives
My hats off to you, cold moles, for doing what it took to help others by bringing that money out of the ground. Bless you on your walk to heaven and your families for getting stronger. Amen.
The psychotic thing about this tragedy is that year coal prices had began to severely decline from 2008 high’s, demand was weak yet Massey Energy continued to over produce coal, more than their contracts called for. So when this disaster occurred Massey was over one year into a declining coal market & was still over producing coal when it had stockpiles of unsold or uncommitted coal just sitting. Blankenship wanted to set production records, he always did. He didn’t care that over producing at the level Massey did was keeping the price of coal down & weakening demand, he wanted the claim to fame among the industry of who can run the most coal each year. UBB could’ve been down a week for safety checks & fixes & it wouldn’t have mattered, Massey had so much met coal & steam coal sitting with no buyer for it. This was an unnecessary tragedy brought on by Blankenship’s need to be known as the biggest coal producer in Central Appalachia instead of the most profitable & safest producer.
Every West Virginian remembers where they were when this happened.
My Grandma and I sat in the kitchen watching the news.
Oh no!
What
You'd think someone would have put a snipers bullet into the owner and others that put money over men.
