Nah, all of his songs are not about illness or necessarily "about him". In interviews, he talks about writing songs just for the fun - working out the rhyme schemes, syllables, alliteration etc. This is just a flex song. Animal Flow was also, but they tied it to Animal Farm (and several Kubrick films) when they developed the video for it. Ren's topics include money, power, corruption and the environment which are relevant to society in general. Of course we enjoy it when you're enjoying it! But I find it just as interesting to hear you discuss what you don't like about a song.
It's just something I've noticed is a consistent thing in his songs, that you can't really listen to them without him mentioning either himself or what he's been through. BUT there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And for sure, we all tie what we want to tie to it so could be our/my bias haha. Fair point! And I'm glad yall enjoyed it. Any artist who's as transparent, vulnerable, & yet so supremely humble, well, he has an astonishing way of providing his fans w/the space & opportunity to explore their own traumas, faults, & triggers. If your tribute is anything like Harry Mack's, in that it actually honors him rather than comes off as a parody, it will be phenomenal!!
