This is one of my favorite choruses on my upcoming album.
It brings out strong reactions in people.
Im finding 2 reactions the most popular.
1. What? Really? Cmon. You dont really want to sing that.
2. Oh my God. This is the chorus that my church has needed to sing for years. I cant sing it enough. BREAK US LORD!!!
Through my conversations with the reactionaries I am finding some things to be consistent.
Those who are comfortable in their faith really arent hip with too much disturbance and disruption in their mojo.
I get it.
If things are good. If things are stable, why ask God to save us from these comforts?
And those who are desiring somethingmorefrom whatever it is they are searching for, are singing this chorus until their voices give out.
Neither is wrong. Neither is right.
But I do know this.
I grow in my faith the most when I am disturbed and disrupted.
I get a spiritual fat @** when Im not.
This chorus is taken from a book of Puritan prayers.
Those guys wanted something extra.
Something I dont quite understand. Or didnt.
Until I met Danny.
Danny is a homeless guy in Atlanta who happened to walk up on me while I was shooting the EPK for my new record.
I was singing the songGod Of Second Chances.

If you listen carefully at the end you hear me saying this to Danny.

He looked me square in the eyecocked his head sideways with a confused look on his faceand said,

Some times, I feel that when we watch this video, we are watching a recording of an angel.

Yes, the homeless man probably is an angel in at that moment.

Suzie P I know that your post is old and you probably won't see my response, but my mother said a very similar thing. She said he is an Angel. At least that is her opinion and I think I'm inclined to agree.
you don't get it God placed Danny there for a reason only God knows at that time a few years later Danny was seen in Baltimore Md by another person that had watched this video and Danny has a prolific word for that guy then walked around the corner and the other guy went looking for him 2 or 3 min later and he was no where to be found

The song is called the god of second chance but this man has made the song more popular and better but yet you didn't include it on the final track, which is a shame as he brings out the best in this song

Who’s still listening to this in 2020? This never gets old I always come back to see this as a reminder. Carlos, you should do an update to this video, I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to see how Mr. Danny is doing. Especially during COVID, prayerfully he’s in a much better position than 10yrs ago 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.

Mr Whittaker, I had to comment on this video. As someone who has been homeless and stuck on the streets with my son. You have no idea, what you and your crew did that day. You gave Danny back a little dignity, you didn't chase him away. You welcomed him and made him feel human again. You gave him hope, and let him raise his voice in praise along with you. I actually read about this, and according to Carlos, they asked him if there was any way they could contact him, because they wanted to record with him, taking him on the road, etc. So, Danny gave them a cell phone number, and told them he was at the park often. The number didn't work for them, so Carlos went back the next day, and all of the homeless people in the park claimed to have never seen Danny. It's been more than 4 years, and they still haven't heard from him. Every time Carlos goes to Atlanta he goes and sits in the park, hoping he walks by again.

Matt Kitten If I was Carlos, I wouldn't be so cheap as to not get him a hotel room for the weekend, so he could shower, eat something and then getting together with him would've been easier - I guess paying $60 per night for a weekend was too much to ask for from a "Christian".

In the case of offering, Danny could have refused--I've met a few homeless people who were just too nice to feel like they were "imposing." Even if they weren't an imposition.
In the case of not thinking about it, hindsight is twenty-twenty. I don't doubt that, if Carlos didn't think about it, he regretted it as soon as he *DID* think about it.

My understanding is Carlos tried to find him and was unsuccessful. The guy may or may not be an angel but he sure sang like on. Danny was amazing
They went back and ask around and everyone said they had never heard or seen him before. I feel like he was passing through on his way back to heaven like he said in the song. But we never know
I'm not a religious person at all but i do dig this video. Currently i've sat and listened to it on repeat at least 4 times. Part of me wants to say you should have just jumped in a car with Danny and recorded the song again, and part of me would like to see you find Danny again so you can record it. Maybe even do a full album with the guy but at the same time i don't think anything would be as powerful as the moments captured on this video here.

You are correct. One day a very talented and well famous christian group visited our church and they were pros sax and all and we were barely learning. We shared music one night after service we ended up going out to eat and talked till about 4 am Holy Ghost was w us the whole night we could feel it there was so much joy it was only 5 of us sharing stuff and testimonies.. never had a moment like that ever that was 08 never forget that night

A homeless man can praise God like this, while a lot of us turn away from Him at the drop of a dime. I don't care much for these types of songs, and I don't know the back-story of this man, or of the video, but it was touching. Praise God.
I heard this song for the first time about a week ago and cried because of feeling so blessed to see such a wonderful thing happen. It's a beautiful song and I have had it in my heart since hearing, singing it throughout the day. I have also felt the need to share the song and story with others. Regardless of whether Danny is an angel or not, I believe it was Holy Spirit inspired. Thank you for sharing this Carlos. May you always be blessed.
