I think we can all agree that when that Gigantic Battleship emerged from the Comet Empire's ruins, it was the Ultimate HOLY SH*T! moment of the series!
In 2017, I showed S1 and S2 to my (quite young) girlfriend. I was secretly awaiting her reaction to the original "THIS AIN'T MAH FINAL FORM, MO'SUCKRAH!!!" moment Zordar would pull off. She absolutely lost it. She was *SO* angry! 😂 And rightly so. I don't think she expected Trelaina's Deus Ex Machina "mind power" shortly thereafter... heheh Some months later, we ended up doing a lot of cosplay of Leiji's characters. We even redid the voice-over work for the "Argo, make us proud" scene at S2's end. I even crafted my own dramatic teaser video regarding S1. Hard to explain. We also did some Harlock & Maetel stuff. Interesting days. She's long gone though, now. Just like the 80's, lol. And now, I'm an award-winning author of my OWN series ("Diamond Dragons"). Existence is weird. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
Yeah, the show does a great job of making things difficult, the Argo/Yamato manages to overcome the obstacle, then things get ever more difficult, the Argo/Yamato just barely manages to defeat that challenge, and just when you think they've won, things get INSANELY DIFFICULT!
It still feels like forbidden fruit. As I mentioned, when I was a boy I was grounded, no tv. But something told me to turn it on anyway. It was 1979. I was hooked.
The Japanese version is more brutally honest. There was no escape pod, there was no automatic controls. It was a suicide mission and Derek knew it. Nova didn't want Derek to die alone so she snuck back onboard.
I watched this as a kid, before my folks had a VCR. If you missed an episode, you missed it. THIS. This was an infuriating episode. After the Star Force came so far and fought so hard, it looked like Zordar would win after all. ...or would he? :)
It should have ended here, never understood why the Argo didnt blow up here ? as it should have done in the 1st series during the Rainbow galaxy battle vs Lysis No consistency here the so called modern battle ships of Captain Gideon during the battle prior blow-up completely after a few missile hits or one hit from the magnum flame gun.....yet the Argo does not blow up after much worse
The movie version of 2011 combined the entire series, the last scene was the argo Yamato colliding with the enemy. The stretch in these is remarkable. 1978 all over again!
This was a horrifying moment. And Trelena was the only thing that stood between the Star Force and saving Earth, in the end. Derek couldn't defeat this enemy.
Even stranger, the Empire’s bottom ring guns blew up one of the three front turrets. A few scenes later, it’s firing in unison with the other two to blast the hangar door open.
@@PhillyBagel Yeah this series has always had battle damage inconsistencies. I can forgive it, since the whole premise is kinda goofy (in a good way) to begin with, but once you notice stuff like this you can’t unsee it.
All I can say is try searching from time to time. It gets taken down but put up again later. Give Dailymotion a look also. I’d like to see the whole franchise go onto Disney+, Netflix, or another platform but I’m not holding my breath.
Italian version seems not deleted any part of the stories. You can see the scenes of Conroy and Knox's death. Though just you can enjoy the picture........... ruclips.net/video/_apsHE8fqaQ/видео.html

This series got me interested in anime and remains the best of all time! Thanks for posting!

Also, hardly any of the crew survived the battle.

They did not show the end of this because it is so sad. It would make you cry.
Next to Star Wars this is the best ever.
Yes, but my love for this show was at least the equal to Star Wars. I was about ready to join the Japanese Space Force, if they had one.
Next to Star Wars this is far superior.
@@ronaldfrechette2045 If you mean Disney Star Wars, I'd definitely agree. But that's setting a very low bar.

@@fendergibs9098 Yup. The Argo took an ass whopping like none other.
The Argo fought like a true champ.
Me too man. I never saw this episode as a kid and received closure. Lol. Just now seeing it now 40 years later. We didn’t have a VCR!
if it weren't for trelaina and her majestic taco bell fart, zordar would have

Thanks for the memories! This was such a cool animation series when I was a kid.

I love the disco music soundtrack
But Tralaina could!
If they ever created this into a movie...I think "POPPY SHOULD PLAY TRALAINA"!!!
We seem to be missing half the episode.
I have watched Star Blazers TOS multiple times, both seasons. I was sorely disappointed how they handled the Comet Empire in the recent reboot.
"we cannot use our wave motion gun, or our main guns, or any of our guns except torpedo's"...net episode: "FIRE MAIN GUNS AND ALL GUNS!" LMAO
They make repairs fast

This is amazing thanks for posting. Love this series!
Love this..."planets crumble

Leiji Matsumoto was one heck of an exemplary creator. He was the truth. ⚔️☠️⚔️ R.I.P.

Thanks for everything, but can you please reupload complete episode? Thank you.
To bad the Argo didn't have one last shot from the wave motion in her.
ゴジラ対宇宙戦艦ヤマトー此れはまるで、夢の饗宴みたいですね~!
Still my favorite anime series of all time. I think Star Trek 2 copied Zordars' look to make Kahn.
Yeah. Except Khan didn't have a change of heart. He became an unstable planet.
I always thought Helen Hunt looked like Nova
スターブレイザーズは、SFアニメ宇宙戦艦ヤマトのアメリカ版です!
Epp 25 gone ‼️😮
can you please post the full episode, I was a bit disapointed when it just ended right away
