You know something...I'm the same way about spending a lot of $ on books I still want. I just finished my "No Buy" for 3 months..and I have to admit I watch the madness of it all from afar with a realization that I could not start all over again! The staples are an enigma to me? I'm replying to my own comment: I have certain books that I picked up off the racks that need to be in high grade. That's it isn't it? I can own a book from 1959 that is in low grade..but from 1971? No..It must be in a higher grade. But I do find some old time dealers, with high grading standards will sell me a book which i feel is a very fine..for the "Fine" price because they are strict with standards...
Third times a charm! I'm on that no-buy thing too but not on purpose. I had a dream the other day that I was taking all my comics somewhere and they were all stolen out of my car. I said "well. I'm not starting all over so that's the end of that" Wonder if it's a sign or something? Lets hope not, haha. Great to hear from you....

CC - great to see you are doing well. Familiar with the grand-kids taking your space - we just moved to be closer to ours and are living in a small apartment until we can buy a house - thus my comic cabinet is in storage and the books are in boxes in the corner of the living room! Anyway - I also share your pain on book-buying. As I fill in the later needs in my collection ('66 - '67), those are less expensive and easier to acquire. But now, some of the earlier ('63-'65) are not affordable unless I win the lottery. So at some point, my buying will slow down but for now, I still have some wants that are in my price range. Either way - it's a fun hobby because of the hunt!

Did you know that people still mention you in videos and live chats? You had quite an impact. Many collectors say they were influenced by your knowledge of non-mainstream titles. I feel your pain. I’m a collector as well and love high grade books, I’m very picky when it comes to condition. I just can’t believe what most high grade books go for these days....I’ve become a bottom feeder, unfortunately 😭😭😭😭😭
I lower my standards when it comes to the earlier Bronze and Silver age.......the only exceptions would be a huge modern key, something I don’t already have......like a Spider-Man 300 or NM 98 I have both in 9.6 I just won’t pay the inflated prices of 9.8’s

It is legit, its just strange that the staples are not in the same spot each time. Did you ever see a book that was cut cockeyed? It happened in the mid '70's. I think I have one, if I find it I'll post a vid. Check out ETANICK's video "You asked, I answered" from a few days ago about the staples. Good to hear from you!
Nice to see you back, yeah the comic prices have gone crazy not just on the grails and the blue chips but also on regular run of the mill issues books that used to be 5.00 to 15.00 for example are now coming in at 35.00 to 40.00 etc , and I was only talking to Allen at Afta about this last week here in the UK the books are getting virtually impossible to source in the wild they are just not there anymore, and one knows what a book is worth and when you look at some of the prices dealers put on books its insane. anyway enough of that like I said nice to see you back.

All is good Cougar,Its good to take breaks. Infact I feel it too,Ive been burnt out on on diging threw comics. My shops rarely have any good back issues,Mostly newer stuff and really common stuff. Seriously the oldest ASM was 281 an issue I already own... Silver Age stuff is just really scarce in my neck of the woods
Same here. Most local shops don't stock silver or at least the stuff I'm looking for. So I still search eBay which at times is like fishing in the desert. Good to hear from you!!

So have you lowered the grade you find acceptable? I have on early 60's books but I still haven't bought any!
