    Never thought about how an oscillating sprinkler worked, just knew they were $15 at Walmart. It's surprising how simultaneously simple and complex the engineering behind it is.

    Oh damn, i always wondered how these worked after seeing one in action at my parents' yard. Kind of amazing how handy they are, being able to water in rectangles instead of circles, like most common sprinklers.

      Very nice video. but I’m slightly confused. When I click on the creator name and look at the channel information, it says “4” videos. (but there is currently only “2” videos there now)

      @@MikeCee7it looks like RUclips is counting shorts as videos. At this point the channel has 4 full videos and 3 shorts and the counter in the channel description is 7

    The fact that you have 11.9K subscribers from just two videos says everything there needs to be said about their quality.
    I always wondered whether there was actually a computer inside or some kind of pressure- or touch-sensor that somehow changes directions, but this design is both interestingly complex and beautifully simple. Very educational, nice animation, meticulous explanations: Please make more!

    The main object of the oscillating sprinkler is cooling down kids in the summer though. Even water distribution over a set area is secondary.

    Please do one that shows how mechanical recoil works with a person throwing an object on a frictionless surface, then a catapult or crossbow. Then show how this demonstrates the Law of Conservation of Momentum.
    Finally, you can show how the Law of COM applies to rocket propulsion and how rockets don't need anything to "push off of" in a vacuum.
    Your videos are so good you could do a really good job of making things clear for others.
